Barbara Pandolfo – District Administrator – Farmingdale UFSD

Retiring after 34 years in education from the Farmingdale Public Schools. I began as a junior high school librarian and public librarian. I then became a director of libraries at Farmingdale, as well as, director of other services such as Audio Visual, Gifted and Talented Education, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Non Public Textbook department. I have also been on the LISMA board for the last 33 years having served on the executive board in all capacities. I have enjoyed it all and I am also grateful to the Nassau Library System (was a liaison before the System existed) for its support and guidance in bringing all libraries successfully into the 21st Century.

I presented in Washington DC at the Computers in Libraries/Internet @Schools Annual Conference. My presentation was on the Common Core Standards and School Libraries as shown through my 5th grade research project, "Survivor MD". The conference was in April 2013.

Arlene Munson - Glen Cove CSD

Advisor to the high school newspaper club, The Cove-erTimes. Entered the newspaper and the student reporters in two Long Island young journalists contests -- LIU-(Best of High School Journalism Awards and Adelphi University's Quill Awards for the Best high school journalists. The staff garnered 5 awards which was outstanding for such a nascent paper. We appeared in the Glen Cove Record Pilot, the Glen Cove Patch and in news releases from LIU and Adelphi.

Valerie Mignone/Kathryn Elefterion- Baldwin UFSDThis year we received a grant for 8 iPad minis from the Baldwin Foundation for Education.

Shari Stack - Bellmore-Merrick CHSDI received a LISMA and Bellmore-Merrick CHSD Mini-Grant - both for enhancing my non-fiction eBook collection aligned to the Common Core.

Jodi Thompson - Herricks UFSDReceived 2 grants this year. The first was for $1000 for nook books from the Herricks PTA and the second was for $400 from LISMA for Playaways.

Actually received (2) grants: Grant 1 from LISMA (Long Island Media Association) for $400 to purchase ALA READ Graphics software to recreate the Celebrity READ posters...but this time using school faculty, staff, administrators and students to highlight their favorite books. Grant 2 was for $10,600 for the WEATHERBUG Weather Forecasting Station & Lightning Alert. Am advisor to the school's TV Broadcast Club and wanted to implement state-of-the-art weather graphics to our Morning News show, while offering the opportunity to use the equipment w/our 8th grade Earth Science students.

Catherine Brown - Malverne UFSD

My library program was the beneficiary of 2 grants from the Malverne Educational and Fitness Foundation. "Poetry Cafe" funded an afterschool poetry reading set up as a cafe (books, berets and beverages). "Nooks and eBooks" funded our first set of circulating Nooks and ebooks.
