Smart grid technolo- gies are enabling utilities to be more proactive with outage management. Lean how to leverage existing technologies and software to deploy lifecycle outage management and be better prepared for the next disaster. To see how to prepare for these storms and reduce restoration time, come by the ABB booth where ABB and Ventyx will demonstrate three levels of storm response solutions that help utilities decrease restoration time. Presentation times: Tuesday 11:30 AM, Wednesday 1:30 PM Asset health demonstration ABB and Ventyx allow utilities to uniquely embed transmission & distribution engineering, equipment monitoring and systems expertise into a compre- hensive intelligence platform that enables utilities to lower costs, minimize risk and improve reliability. We will demonstrate how the combination of IT and OT can be leveraged to provide an asset health solution that can en- able asset intensive businesses to unlock the wealth of real-time sensing and monitoring data now. In combination with maintenance and enterprise data, utilities can pro-actively predict, prioritize and act on potential risks to maximize up time, safety and total return on capital investments. Presentation times: Tuesday 2:00 PM, Wednesday 3:00 PM Distribution optimization demonstration Need to lower peak demand, support sustainability, and promote customer engagement? ABB and Ventyx will demonstrate several levels of Volt/ VAr optimization (VVO) which can be used to reduce distribution losses and manage feeder voltages. Learn how VVO is being implemented as a demand response tool to lower peak demand and decrease T&D and gen- eration capacity costs. Additionally, discover how distribution optimization tools enable utilities to effectively manage and integrate distributed energy resources to increase use of renewable generation, energy storage and microgrid technologies. Energy storageWith more than 125 years experience in power engineering and a decade of expertise in energy storage implementation, ABB is a leader in energy storage solutions. Our technology allows stored energy to be accessed exactly when required, meeting the high-est peaks of user demand at any time, resulting in optimum efficiency and cost effectiveness for the power industry and its consumers.

Outdoor distribution productsABB solutions help control costs and meet consumer demand with fewer resources. One way of achieving this is through distri-bution grid management, which increases reliability and efficiency, while reducing operating costs through better communications and control. Visit our booth for hands on demonstrations on volt var optimization and fault detection and isolation with our outdoor distribution products such as instrument transformers, sensors, circuit breakers, reclosers, capacitor banks and transformers.

Protection and control devicesABB’s world-class protection and control products ensure reliable power transmission and distribution. ABB delivers a full range of genuine IEC 61850 protection and control devices, including network automation. Whether substation automation or distribu-tion automation, ABB’s scalable, open platform solutions allow easy integration onto your system.

Tropos wirelessABB’s Tropos Wireless Communication Systems offer outdoor wireless broadband IP mesh networks trusted by customers to enable mission critical applications. Customers use their broad-band mesh networks to monitor and control thousands of auto-mation devices in the field and large outdoor facilities and to communicate with mobile workers.

Ventyx enterprise software solutionsVentyx, an ABB company, provides SCADA-based network management and central market software systems. Their full-range solutions enable utilities to collect, store and analyze data from hundreds of thousands of data points in national and region-al networks and play a very central role in the on-going develop-ment of smart grids. Ventyx solutions help meet growing demand for electricity by raising the efficiency of electricity systems and helping to incorporate renewable energy into the grid.

We are pleased to launch two new products at Distributech: the Pre-Configured Matching Unit (PCMU) and the REF615R.

The PCMU is an alternative to upgrade legacy relays using the Relion 615 series of intelligent electronic devices in a simple, easy to install, retrofit assembly. These retrofits, which replace existing ABB legacy relays such as DPU, DPU2000, TPU2000, IMPRS, and Pro*Star, allow the user to take advantage of features pro-vided by the 615 series such as high impedance fault detection, improved fault recording capabilities, upgraded communication protocol or port, and even add arc flash detection.

The REF615R is designed to provide customers with a 19” rack mount version of the Relion series REF615 feeder IED, as well as an easy, cost-effective upgrade of the DPU2000R. This dedicated feeder relay is perfectly aligned for the protection, control, mea-surement and supervision of utility and industrial substation feeders requiring ANSI/IEEE and IEC standards and ring-lug terminals in grounded and ungrounded distribution systems.
