Lesya Ukrainka drama's "The Forest Song" one of the the most beloved works of Ukrainian classical literature. A forest nymph Mavka falls in love with a mortal youth Lukash causing a dramatic clash between the world of carefree beauty of the forest and the world of the humans filled with jealousy, passion, rivalry and evil. The "Forest Song" characters include mythological beings from Ukrainian folklore.
