1 Lesson 1 (Introduction to 3D design and Modelling) Key Vocabulary: - Perspective: Seeing an object on a flat surface as it is seen by the eye, getting smaller as it gets further away from the viewer. Orthographic view: Seeing a 3-dimensional object in 2 dimensions. Value: What something is worth. Dimension: The space something occupies, height, width, length. Polygon: A closed shape that has three or more, usually straight, line segments. Edge: the outside limit of an object, area or surface. Face: A flat surface of a geometric solid. Polygon mesh: A group of polygons which are connected by shared vertices. - 3D and 2D 3D stands for three-dimensional. It means we can now see that an object has a width, height and depth (length). What we see in the real-world is 3D. Our eyes and brain work together to show you how near or far something is. We have 3D glasses for 3D movies. - 3D design is used in many fields such as: Medicine Architecture and Design Forensics The Military Pilot Training Movies, Video Games, Virtual Reality – 3D and polygons
