Listening Transcript

Mrs Lee : I’m worried for our children in this neighborhood. They are exposed to danger as I

often see them chasing one another along the roadside.

Puan Aishah : Yes, I get worried too. When I see the children playing by the roadside, I’m afraid the

cars or motorcycles might hit them. They always tell me they’ll be careful but the

motorists may not drive carefully or slowly. By the time they step on the brakes, it’s

too late. Accidents can happen.

Mrs Lee : You’re right, Puan Aishah. The children should play in the playground. But my

children tell me that the playground is unmanageable. The swing is wreck and the

grass is haven’t been cut for quite a while.

Puan Aishah : I think we should suggest to the neighborhood community to carry out a

‘gotong-royong’. We could clear up the playground so that the children have more

space to play and run.

Mrs Lee : Good! I will suggest that in our next neighborhood meeting. Do you know that many

parents allow their children to play badminton just outside the gate? Usually one of

them is inside the compound while the other is outside. I don’t think this is a good

idea. That’s why I enroll my children for badminton classes in the town hall.

Puan Aishah : Oh, that’s a great idea! When the classes held?

Mrs Lee : Every Saturday. Are your children interested?

Puan Aishah : I suppose so but I’ll have to ask them first.
