What does this mean?

I believe that God created me and all that exists, and that he gave me my body and soul, eyes, ears, and all my members, my

mind and all my abilities.

And I believe that God still preserves me by richly and daily providing clothing and shoes, food and drink, property and home, spouse and children, land, cattle, and all I own, and all I need to keep my body and life. God also preserves me by defending

me against all danger, guarding and protecting me from all evil.

All this God does only because he is my good and merciful Father in heaven, and not because I have earned or deserved it. For all this I ought to thank and praise, to

serve and obey him.

This is most certainly true.

1. Why do we call the first person of the Trinity “God the Father”?

We call him God the Father because he is Jesus’ father.

God adopted us into his family!


We call him God the Father because he is Jesus’ father.We also call him God the Father because he is our father. He is the father of all that he created.In a special sense, he is the father of all believers.

2. What is God the Father’s special area of work?

God the Father’s special area of work is creation.

Evolution: The false teaching that more advanced creatures slowly developed from less advanced ones.

We often use this to mean all the “scientific” ideas about where the universe came from, like the Big

Bang theory.

Theistic Evolution:

The false teaching that evolution happened, but God controlled it.

This idea tries to make evolution acceptable to Christians.

Creation Science:

The attempt to demonstrate by scientific observations and principles that creation is true.

This practice tries to make creation acceptable to unbelievers – it forgets that we only accept creation by faith.

Providence: How God takes care of us.

Miracles: When God suspends the normal laws of nature to accomplish his purpose .

4. What is our response to God’s love?
