You Task – In pairs, you are to read the Christian

views of God and come up with a problem for each of the statements.

Read the examples and think carefully before writing down your answer.

1.God is Benevolent (God is kind and good)

2. God is Omniscient (God knows completely everything)

If God knows everything, then he will know when bad things are going to happen: he could stop them from happening. He would also know what I will do before I do it: is it really a choice if my actions have already been decided?

3. God is Omnipotent (God is all powerful)4. God is real. 5. God judges us (God decides if we deserve to be rewarded or punished after death)6. God speaks to us

through acts of kindness

God must exist, as so many people believe in Him


If God created everything, then He also created evil: He therefore cannot be benevolent


God has given humans free will: it is up to us to choose between right and wrong. God just hopes that we make the right choice


A God who is kind and loving would not allow suffering and pain to happen in the world


God sends terrible events such as earthquakes, famines and diseases to punish or test us


If God knows everything, then He knows bad things will happen before they do. If God existed, he would stop the bad things from happening


Heaven and Hell are just ideas to make people do what they are told


If God did exist, then He would prove it somehow: why would God want to leave everyone guessing?
