Location

DublinDublin, the capital of the Republic of Ireland, is built on

the River Liffey and is situated besides the sea and close to both the countryside and mountains. The city, which was previously voted the friendliest city in Europe, is a vibrant, fun city full of young people.

Many of Dublin’s attractions are free and travelling around is easy. The diversity of Dublin is an educational experience in itself.

Dublin offers a lot of shopping and sightseeing in comparison to other cities in Ireland and it is exceptional in its number of parks, gardens and leafy squares.

Dublin is a small city that offers a unique range of cultural, historical, recreational and educational amenities that makes the city a great place to live and work.

Dubliners are as varied as the city itself, with commu-nities from most countries of the world, living in a diverse, multicultural and friendly environment.

Ireland Ireland is one of the most beautiful countries in

the world. It is a small island on the north western edge of Europe with a population of less than four million people. A Green and pleasant land due to the influence of the Gulf Stream, the weather is mild which means it’s never too cold or too hot . It is 486 kilometers long and 275 kilometers wide. Ireland has 3,172 kilometers of coastline, the longest coastline per head of population in Europe.

Facilities

Campus facilitesAt Leinster College we have excellent learning fa-

cilities. Being a relatively new college has enabled us to invest in the latest computer hardware and soft-ware, wireless networking and internal systems. Lein-ster College main campus is located at 26 Harcourt street, Dublin 2.

This City centre location is within one minute walking distance of Stephens Green Park. Sorrounded by the recreational and cultural amenities of the city centre,this location provides an ideal atmosphere for students.We are easily accessible with excellent trans-port links including the Luas, Bus and Rail.

Class roomsThe welfare of our students is our primary con-

cern; all of our classrooms are designed to be pleas-ant places to learn. The classrooms are spacious with a significant amount of natural light they also are

centrally heated in winter making it a comfortable atmosphere for both teacher and students.

AccommodationWe can provide accommodation to our students,

for further assistance on choosing accommodation students can seek advice from our ‘Student Care Team’ which is able to provide all assistance needed.

International Student Leinster College welcomes students from all over

the world. The staff of our International office is ded-icated to ensuring a high quality academic, cultural and social experience for all our international stu-dents. Leinster college provides confidential advice and guidance on any issue related to college life. All our international students can rely on the support of an ‘International Officer’ with any concern they may have while attending Leinster College.

Health ServiceThe College will be happy to help students

to register with their local General Practitioner (GP) and will assist you in making appoint-ments with a doctor or a dentist if you need treatment during your stay.

Health Care is not free in Ireland and can be very costly. The GNIB insist that students ar-range Medical Insurance before they will issue a Visa. Leinster College strongly advises students to arrange Medical Insurance before travelling to Ireland and will assist you in doing so.

Student Support Students at Leinster College enjoy the support of

all the staff. We get to know the students well and take an interest in progress and a their general well-being.

In particular, the course tutor will monitor stu-dents’ academic progress and ensure that any prob-lems are identified and discussed as early as possible. Students can also speak to the principal about any se-rious personal problems or issues they have with the course.

Leinster College also has a student affairs officer whose role is to provide students with non-academic support and assistance.

Bank AccountsOur administrative staff will help you to open

your own student bank account in Dublin. The Col-lege has special arrangements made with the local bank which gives priority to our students in deal-ing with bank matters. In order to be eligible to open a bank account in Ireland, you must be enrolled in a full time course for a period of not less than 6 months. For overseas students, most banks require an Irish student visa valid for at least 6 months.

Job Guidance Leinster College assists students to find part-time

jobs. Students can work up to 20 hours per week dur-ing term time and any hours during the holidays. All international students need a PPS number before getting a job and Leinster College provides related documents to assist students when applying for a PPS number.

yone who is a non-native speaker of English and who would like to demonstrate their ability to communi-cate in English. Many english-speaking universities accept this qualification as evidence of language pro-ficiency for entry on to their courses.

AssessmentFor the award of a full certificate, candidates must

successfully complete the assessments for one core unit plus two optional units. Candidates will also re-ceive a certificate for each individual unit achieved.

Course descriptionThe Level 3 e-Quals IT User qualification is ideal

for your learners who want to build on the already impressive IT skills that your learner will already have. The IT Principles unit complements the op-tional units that help learners build on their skills. As well as using the e-Quals units, learners can also use the Microsoft Office Specialist (Expert Level) units in Word and Excel to gain their Advanced Di-ploma for IT Users.

All the students are welcome to apply.

AssessmentTo achieve the qualification, learners must be

successful in the assessment for 1 core unit and 4 op-tional units, at least 3 of the optional units must be from the level 3 IT Systems Support group, one unit may be from the other optional groups.

Course descriptionThis qualifications are for learners who want to

progress in supporting users and supporting, main-

training and developing systems. They cover more complex work and learners could develop their su-pervisory abilities as well. Learners can select from a range of Software Development, Systems Support, IT User and non-IT units and can include units from Microsoft, CISCO and CompTIA to contribute to their Advanced Diploma. For learners to achieve the Advanced Diploma for IT Professionals (7266/25), they must achieve a minimum of 450 guided learning hours. They must be successful in a core unit, either 306 Requirements analysis and systems specification or 502 Customer support provision 3, plus additional optional units to make up the total guided learning hours. 60% of the total guided learning hours must be from units at the level of the qualification.

Personal DevelopmentAs your education with ABE progresses, you

may discover new interests and after completing the HRM programme, decide to specialise in an addi-tional programme, for example Business Manage-ment (BM). You will be credited with your passes in the HRM programme which are also common to the BM programme and you will simply enter for the remaining subjects in the BM programme in the next exams. Similarly, having completed the BM (or other) programme you can enter for the HRM programme. You will be transferred automatically to the new programme when you make the exam entry. Please remember that you must pass all the required subjects to complete a qualification.

Certificate in Human Resource Management (HRM)The HRM programme is a professional QCA accred-ited qualification. At present demand for trained and qualified HR professionals is exceeding supply. The HRM program will make your skills fit for a profes-sional setting.

Entry RequirementsTo enter the Diploma you must have completed

the ABE Certificate (in any programme) or have two GCE A – Level and four GCSEs at Grade C or above or posses a BTEC National award or equivalent NQF level 3. Students with at least two years’ work experi-ence can also apply, even without any of the above qualification.

AssessmentAssessment will be a written examination. One

three-hour paper relating to a business scenario provided in the question paper, containing six ques-tions, of which four should be answered. All ques-tions carry equal weighting.
