Participants Senior 4 th Cork (SSPP) 49 th Cork (Ballincollig) 45 th Cork (Blarney) Junior 4 th Cork (SSPP) A 4 th Cork (SSPP) B 4 th Cork (SSPP) C 49 th Cork (Ballincollig) 45 th Cork (Blarney) Event Description Junior teams started from Mount Melleray Scout Centre and hiked up Dyrick mountain, completing bases on feature identification, bearings, weather charts and mountain first aid along the way. Senior teams, starting from the Vee , took in the peaks of Sugarloaf Hill (664m), Knockmealdown (794m), Knocknagnauv (655m)and Knocknafallia (668m) before returning to the base at Mt Melleray for a well deserved rest, followed by the cooking of their test meals and a lively campfire. Venture Scouts from Ballincollig and Blarney Venture Groups staffed the event, which benefitted from beautiful weather allowing clear views and even some suntans for the participants. After a Scouts’ Own ceremony on the Sunday morning teams headed home. Lee Valley Mountain Challenge 2009

Event Description

Junior teams started from Mount Melleray Scout
