This is a great way to brush up on your photography skills
during the year and see some of your art work displayed to
the public on Facebook. There are different themes every

your photo and then it is judged and they pick out the top
few to be voted on by the public through Facebook. The
public votes on their favorite photos.

planning process for the banquet? We
are looking to put together a small com-

ning. If you are interested call Breana at
the Extension Office today. We are also looking for other com-
mittees to be put together as well, like fundraising, and work-

able to join us for one or all of these. Banquet is just
about a week away. If you are a Clover Kid don’t forget
to check out your section. Don’t forget to recruit for 4-

Attention Swine Exhibitors:
For many years our swine from Lee County have been harvested at Tyson in Columbus Junction and they have always paid fair market value for our animals. Tyson has joined many of the other packers in the US, moving to a program where no pigs com-ing to the plant have ever been exposed to Paylean (Ractopamine). In the past many 4-Hers have used Paylean to increase muscle deposition and growth rates in the pigs. With African Swine Fe-ver rampant in China our pork exports from the US have increased substantially to that coun-try. China does not allow Paylean (Ractopamine) to be fed to pigs. They will be testing incoming carcasses for any trace of Paylean and would reject the entire ship load if just one sample was positive. Please be mindful of this new requirement.
If you have any questions feel free to contact me at the Lee County Extension Office,
319-835-5116.
4-H Rabbit Workshop
We will be hosting a 4-H and Clover Kid rabbit project workshop on February 19 from 6:30

grooming, breeding, handling, culling and showmanship. We encourage you to bring a
rabbit.
To register for this event please contact the Lee County Extension Office at 319-835-5116.
2020 Dog Obedience Classes
Dog Obedience classes will be formatted like last year.
We plan on meeting 2 times a month starting in January

ed at the Extension Office in Donnellson. If you intend on
showing a dog at the Lee County Fair you must sign-up by
calling the Extension Office at 319-835-5116 so we can
send you a packet and schedule. Classes will be the first
and third Sunday of the month from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm.
