ਿਦਸੰਤਰੁ ਭਵੈ ਅੰਤਰੁ ਨਹੀ ਭਾਲੇ ॥He wanders through foreign lands, but does not look within himself.

You are like a King living in a Dream

ਜਬ ਹਮ ਹੋਤੇ ਤਬ ਤੂ ਨਾਹੀ ਅਬ ਤੂਹੀ ਮੈ ਨਾਹੀ ॥When I am in my ego, then You are not with me. Now that You are with me, there is no egotism within me.

ਅਨਲਅਗਮ ਜੈਸੇ ਲਹਿਰ ਮਇਓਦਿਧ ਜਲ ਕੇਵਲ ਜਲ ਮਾਂਹੀ ॥੧॥The wind may raise up huge waves in the vast ocean, but they are just water in water. ||1||

ਮਾਧਵੇ ਿਕਆਕਹੀਐ ਭ�ਮੁ ਐਸਾ ॥O Lord, what can I say about such an illusion?

ਜੈਸਾ ਮਾਨੀਐ ਹੋਇ ਨ ਤੈਸਾ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥Things are not as they seem. ||1||Pause||

ਨਰਪਿਤ ਏਕੁ ਿਸੰਘਾਸਿਨ ਸੋਇਆ ਸੁਪਨੇ ਭਇਆ ਿਭਖਾਰੀ ॥It is like the king, who falls asleep upon his throne, and dreams that he is a beggar.

ਅਛਤ ਰਾਜ ਿਬਛੁਰਤ ਦਖੁੁ ਪਾਇਆਸੋ ਗਿਤ ਭਈ ਹਮਾਰੀ ॥੨॥His kingdom is intact, but separated from it, he suffers in sorrow. Such is my own condition. ||2||

Don’t pretend to be something you are not.

ਕਬੀਰ ਰੋੜਾ ਹੋਇ ਰਹੁ ਬਾਟ ਕਾ ਤਿਜ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਅਿਭਮਾਨੁ ॥Kabeer, let yourself be a pebble on the path; abandon your egotistical pride.

ਐਸਾ ਕੋਈ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੋਇ ਤਾਿਹ ਿਮਲੈ ਭਗਵਾਨੁ ॥੧੪੬॥Such a humble slave shall meet the Lord God. ||146||

ਕਬੀਰ ਰੋੜਾ ਹਆੂ ਤ ਿਕਆ ਭਇਆਪੰਥੀ ਕਉ ਦਖੁੁ ਦੇਇ ॥Kabeer, what good would it be, to be a pebble? It would only hurt the traveler on the path.

ਐਸਾ ਤੇਰਾ ਦਾਸੁ ਹੈ ਿਜਉ ਧਰਨੀ ਮਿਹ ਖੇਹ ॥੧੪੭॥Your slave, O Lord, is like the dust of the earth. ||147||

ਕਬੀਰ ਖੇਹ ਹਈੂ ਤਉ ਿਕਆ ਭਇਆਜਉ ਉਿਡ ਲਾਗੈ ਅੰਗ ॥Kabeer, what then, if one could become dust? It is blown up by the wind, and sticks to the body.

ਹਿਰ ਜਨੁ ਐਸਾ ਚਾਹੀਐ ਿਜਉ ਪਾਨੀ ਸਰਬੰਗ ॥੧੪੮॥The humble servant of the Lord should be like water, which cleans everything. ||148||

ਕਬੀਰ ਪਾਨੀ ਹਆੂ ਤ ਿਕਆ ਭਇਆਸੀਰਾ ਤਾਤਾ ਹੋਇ ॥

Kabeer, what then, if one could become water? It becomes cold, then hot.

ਹਿਰ ਜਨੁ ਐਸਾ ਚਾਹੀਐ ਜੈਸਾ ਹਿਰ ਹੀ ਹੋਇ ॥੧੪੯॥

The humble servant of the Lord should be just like the Lord. ||149||

Where do we learn to be like Waheguru/ Learn the qualities of Waheguru? In Sat Sangat.

Satsangat teaches us how to love Waheguru.

ਿਮਿਲ ਸਤਸੰਗਿਤ ਹਿਰ ਪਾਈਐ ਗੁਰਮੁਿਖ ਹਿਰ ਿਲਵ ਲਾਇ ॥Join the Sat Sangat, the True Congregation, and find the Lord. The Gurmukh embraces love for the Lord.ਆਪੁਗਇਆ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਇਆ ਿਮਿਲ ਸਲਲੈ ਸਲਲ ਸਮਾਇ ॥੨॥Give up your selfishness, and you shall find peace; like water mingling with water, you shall merge in absorption. ||2||

People only love what they can see; they can’t differentiate between the Creator and the Creation.

ਚਚਾ ਰਿਚਤ ਿਚਤ� ਹੈ ਭਾਰੀ ॥CHACHA: He painted the great picture of the world.ਤਿਜ ਿਚਤ�ੈ ਚੇਤਹੁ ਿਚਤਕਾਰੀ ॥Forget this picture, and remember the Painter.ਿਚਤ� ਬਿਚਤ� ਇਹੈ ਅਵਝੇਰਾ ॥This wondrous painting is now the problem.ਤਿਜ ਿਚਤ�ੈ ਿਚਤੁ ਰਾਿਖ ਿਚਤੇਰਾ ॥੧੨॥Forget this picture and focus your consciousness on the Painter. ||12||

Anything that won’t go with you in the end is Maya.

ਬਾਬਾ ਮਾਇਆ ਸਾਿਥ ਨ ਹੋਇ ॥O Baba, the wealth of Maya does not go with anyone.ਇਿਨ ਮਾਇਆਜਗੁ ਮੋਿਹਆ ਿਵਰਲਾ ਬੂਝੈ ਕੋਇ ॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥This Maya has bewitched the world, but only a rare few understand this. ||Pause||

Our mind’s fascinations leads us astray from God.

ਏਹ ਮਾਇਆਮੋਹਣੀ ਿਜਿਨ ਏਤੁ ਭਰਿਮ ਭੁਲਾਇਆ ॥This Maya is so fascinating; because of it, people wander in doubt.

ਸੁਤ ਸੰਪਿਤ ਦੇਿਖ ਇਹੁ ਮਨੁ ਗਰਿਬਆ ਰਾਮੁ ਿਰਦੈ ਤੇ ਖੋਇਆ ॥Gazing upon your children and your property, your mind is proud and arrogant; you cast out the Lord from your heart.

As a result of Maya, we have no love for God.

ਇਿਨ�ਹ੍ ਮਾਇਆਜਗਦੀਸ ਗੁਸਾਈ ਤੁਮ�ਹ੍ਰੇ ਚਰਨ ਿਬਸਾਰੇ ॥This Maya has made me forget Your feet, O Lord of the World, Master of the Universe.ਿਕੰਚਤ ਪ�ੀਿਤ ਨ ਉਪਜੈ ਜਨ ਕਉ ਜਨ ਕਹਾ ਕਰਿਹ ਬੇਚਾਰੇ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥Not even a bit of love wells up in Your humble servant; what can Your poor servant do? ||1||Pause||ਿਧ�ਗੁ ਤਨੁ ਿਧ�ਗੁ ਧਨੁ ਿਧ�ਗੁ ਇਹ ਮਾਇਆ ਿਧ�ਗੁ ਿਧ�ਗੁ ਮਿਤ ਬੁਿਧ ਫੰਨੀ ॥Cursed is the body, cursed is the wealth, and cursed is this Maya; cursed, cursed is the clever intellect and understanding.ਇਸ ਮਾਇਆਕਉ ਿਦ�ੜੁ ਕਿਰ ਰਾਖਹੁ ਬਾਂਧੇ ਆਪ ਬਚੰਨੀ ॥੧॥Restrain and hold back this Maya; overcome it, through the Word of the Guru's Teachings. ||1||

ਸਾਿਸ ਿਗਰਾਿਸ ਜਪਹੁ ਜਪੁ ਰਸਨਾ ਨੀਤ ਨੀਤ ਗੁਣ ਗਾਈਐ ॥੨॥With every breath and morsel of food, meditate, and chant with your tongue, continually, each and every day; sing the Glorious Praises of the Lord. ||2||

How do you love God?

ਅੰਤਿਰ ਗੋਿਵੰਦ ਿਜਸੁ ਲਾਗੈ ਪ�ੀਿਤ ॥One who enshrines love for God within his mind,ਹਿਰ ਿਤਸੁ ਕਦੇ ਨ ਵੀਸਰੈ ਹਿਰ ਹਿਰ ਕਰਿਹ ਸਦਾ ਮਿਨ ਚੀਿਤ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥never forgets the Lord; he continually chants the Lord's Name, Har, Har, in his conscious mind. ||1||Pause||
