General Information

§ FREE coffee and donuts in the morning for exhibitors provided by PoultryShowCentral.com § Entries accepted until maximum capacity is reached. § Live musical entertainment during lunch in the pavilion from 12 – 1pm § Entries MUST BE postmarked by September 27, 2016, NO EMAIL ENTRIES § Showroom will be open Friday the 7th from 5 PM – 10 PM and Saturday the 8th 6 AM – 9 AM. § Opening Ceremony at 8:45; Judging will begin at 9 AM § Awards will be given out following judging § Ribbons awarded for Best of Breed. Poultry & Pigeon Show Rules 1) All poultry must meet the PA Dept. of Agriculture health requirements

2) All animals must be free of infectious and contagious diseases and external parasites.

3) The state of Pennsylvania requires that all poultry shown or for sale must be Pullorum/Typhoid free. In state and out-of-state exhibitors must be tested for AI within 30 days & Pullorum within 90 days of the show date. Exhibitors with flocks on US NPIP 90 day Avian Clean Flock are exempt from the 30 day requirement. If there are any questions or concerns, feel free to call show secretary at 610-823-2831.

4) Entered specimens must be bona fide property of the exhibitor 30 days or longer before the opening day of the show.

5) All birds entered for exhibition shall be free of external parasites.

6) Lebanon Valley Poultry Fanciers will supply coops. Exhibitor will be in charge of all feedings. Shavings will be available.

7) It is to be understood that there will be classes for young and adult males and females in all breeds and varieties as listed in the Standard of Perfection.

8) Coop in will be 5:00-9:00 PM the 7th, and 6:00-9:00 AM the 8th. Judging will start at 9:00 AM. Release time will be after awards.

9) The latest editions of the “American Standard of Perfection” of the American Poultry Association and the “Bantam Standard” of the American Bantam Association will govern poultry judging.

10) The latest edition of the “Book of Standards” of the National Pigeon Association will govern the pigeon judging. Note: This will NOT be a NPA sanctioned show.

11) A bird can only compete for one prize, except as provided for in special awards.

12) The management reserves the right to make any alterations which may seem necessary for the success of the exhibition. Furthermore, the management reserves the privilege of refusing any entries which are not deemed desirable for the best interest of the show or those not entered on any entry blank.

13) No specimen is to be handled by anyone other than the owner, judge, or show management unless permission is given by owner.

14) No person shall interfere with the judge in any manner while in the performance of his/her duties as a judge.

15) All rules apply to Open and Youth Shows.

16) Runner duck exhibitors should have their birds number banded, as they may be judged on the run in the designated area at the judge’s discretion.

Sale Cages

Poultry sale cages are available on a first come first serve basis to exhibitors only ($3.00 each). No more than 4 birds in a cage. Please include your payment and number of sale cages needed with your entry.

We will have sale areas of 10’x10’ available for $20. They will be available on a first come, first served basis.

Only exhibitors are permitted to sell birds at the show and they must be sold from within the show building. Sale cages will be available.

Directions The show will be held at the Lebanon Valley Expo Center & Fairgrounds located at 80 Rocherty Road, Lebanon, PA 17042. From Lebanon: Rte. 72 South to Rocherty Road (Sheetz intersection). Turn left on Rocherty Road. Fairgrounds will be your right after next traffic light. From Lancaster: Rte. 72 North to Rocherty Road (Sheetz intersection). Turn right on Rocherty Road. Fairgrounds will be on your right after next traffic light.

Chicken Poop Bingo

We will be having chicken poop bingo. The official rules will be posted at the game area. The cost is $2 a ticket. If you have the “lucky” square, you will win half the money collected. The chicken or chickens have one hour to make their selection…if business is not completed by then, the Chicken Poop Bingo Judge will draw a ticket out randomly.

Breeders Silent Auction

We will be having a Breeders Auction featuring quality breeding birds from prominent breeders. So come to see what you can add to your flock, while supporting the LVPF club!

Youth Skillathon 1st Place $30, 2nd Place $20, 3rd Place $15,

4th Place $10 and 5th Place $5 Prizes donated by Birds of a Different Feather Poultry Club in memory of Carolyn Blum

A Skillathon is a written test on general poultry knowledge, including breed ID, diseases, anatomy, hatching and general care. This contest will be organized by Valerie Miller and sign-up will be on the day of the show.

Junior Show The Junior show will be held along with the open show. The birds will be judged in the Open show and Junior show. It is one fee for both shows. Birds must be entered in the Open show to be shown in the Junior show. Juniors are defined as being 18 years old or younger. PLEASE MARK ENTRY FORM AS JUNIOR!

Reserve Large Fowl, Bantam, Waterfowl, Turkey, & Guinea - Rosette

Junior Showmanship A Junior Showmanship Contest will be organized by a Youth Exhibition Poultry Association (YEPA) representative and our Junior Show judge. This program will be governed by the rules set forth by YEPA. Awards sponsored by YEPA will be given out immediately following the contest.

*NOTE : Please bring a bird that is not competing in the regular show for this event.

Egg Show

Rules:

1. Exhibitor may only enter one entry per class. 2. Entries will receive ribbons for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. 3. Entries will be judged on:

a. Exterior Quality – uniformity of size, shape, color, shell texture and condition.

b. Interior Quality c. Ideal total weight is 24-27 ounces per dozen

4. Entries Will be disqualified for: a. Showing signs of incubation or germ development b. Inedibility c. Adhering dirt, manure, or yolk - eggs must be clean.

5. Entry fee is $2.00 per dozen
