How can you work to build capacity in your community?

Community Capacity Building Training
• Significance from a DoD perspective Nearly 80 percent of military families live off an installation Families do better when they are connected to their community How can we help foster that connection of resilient military families with their
local community?
• Background on training development 2010 started by reviewing what’s out there Developed Family Support Map Created curriculum, on-line inventory Created CCB concentration area on the MFLN

Community Capacity Building Training
“Having taken the Community Capacity Building training through the Military Families Learning Network, I was impressed by the excellent content overview provided in this series of short, user friendly modules. The work we do here at SAMHSA has demonstrated time and again, the value of engaging our larger communities as we work to meet the behavioral health needs of our country's military and veteran families. Engagement in groups or communities that you are not originally a part of takes a special set of skills. The CCB courses allows both individuals and organizations to understand how to start this process with our military and veteran communities from early engagement all the way to methods to sustain valuable connections and collaborations. I would recommend these free federal resources to those interested in engaging in serving our nation's families that serve and have served. “
