What is “More Than”?

It means growing beyond just

what an athlete can do on the

court. It means developing

young athletes mentally, ath-

letically, spiritually, and social-

ly. Upward Stars exists to do

just that. They seek to build

young athletes into great peo-

ple, not just great players.

They look not just for short-

term success but long-term

development of young ath-

letes. The idea of “More

Than” comes from the book of

Ephesians: “Now all glory to

God, who is able, through his

mighty power at work within us,

to accomplish infinitely more

than we might ask or think.”

Why Upward Stars?

Upward Stars programs offer a unique for-

mat that aid in developing the needs of each

athlete regardless of experience. We recog-

nize that each athlete has individual skills

and needs, so we place priority on meeting

each athlete where they are and helping

them reach their potential. We take time to

focus on long-term development which

means encouraging players to try new

things, learn by experience, and focus on be-

ing a well-rounded athlete. Upward Stars

programs increase in intensity with each ath-

lete as they improve; enhancing their physi-

cal, emotional, social, and spiritual develop-

ment. Athletes receive evaluations on their

current skill level with clear direction on how

to improve.

We believe that playing sports should be a

life-changing experience that prepares ath-

letes for success on and off the court.

Established in 1995, Upward Sports is

the world’s largest Christian youth

sports provider. The performance level

of Upward Sports was established in

2012 and is know as Upward Stars. Up-

ward Stars provides opportunities for

young athletes to further develop their

athletic skills and participate in a higher

level of competition. Upward Stars pro-

grams are for young athletes ages 8-18

that have the drive and intensity to per-

form at a high level of competition. Up-

ward Stars programs are led by Certi-

fied Leaders in over 40 cities across the

country.

to offer the 360 Progres-

sion™. The 360 Progres-

sion is the development

of the total athlete men-

tally, athletically, spiritu-

ally, and socially, applied

intentionally through all

Upward Sports program-

ming.

Experienced coaches guide players

through three stages of athletic growth:

game discovery, skill development, and

peak performance - while using the

teachings of Christ to foster positive

sportsmanship and character.

Where does my athlete fit in?

Upward Stars has three programs that give

young athletes the opportunity to play bas-

ketball beyond a recreational level.

Developmental

Developmental Programs include several

opportunities designed for players of all skill

levels and experience. The Technical Devel-

opmental Program features a Fundamental

Skills Academy, the Position Specific Skills

Academy teaches more experienced ath-

letes specific techniques that apply to the

position they play and the Tactical Develop-

mental Program features a 3v3 plan that

immerses athletes in game scenarios to

teach them tactical concepts.

Camps

Upward Stars Camps include an Individual

and Team Camp option. The Individual

Camp focuses on individual skill develop-

ment with a high emphasis on repetition and

improving sport-specific technique. A Team

Camp focuses on tactical improvement and

group exercises that will help teams prepare

for their club or school season.

Travel teams

Travel teams require a higher level of com-

mitment and skill and are recommended for

athletes who have played on school teams,

other travel teams, or participated and ex-

celled in an Upward Stars Developmental

Program. Travel programs give young ath-

letes the opportunity to play at a high level

of competition against other local, regional,

and national teams.
