Developing followership is equally essential to building trust and confidence within the dental practice and organization. Understanding group dynamics and intentionally developing followership among individuals and groups are vital to the health of organizations. This course will enlighten attendees on the differences between followership and leadership, how leaders build followers, and how to build a sustainable plan within the dental practice and organization to promote succession planning and growth. This course will also discuss principles of emotional intelligence that are essential to communication, building trust, conflict management, and influential negotiation within the dental practice and organizations. Following the presentation, participants will be able to: Understand how group dynamics with dental teams and organizations affect decision making. Understand how leadership and followership dynamics influence\ dental practices and organizations. Learn how the principles of emotional intelligence drive communication, decision making, conflict management, negotiation, and case presentation with patients and co-workers. Speaker: Kelly Tanner, Ph.D., RDH Kelly has served in areas of dental hygiene including academia, corporate, clinical, entrepreneur, researcher, and has also been active with the American Dental Hygienists’ Association at both the State and National Level. She has been recognized for her outstanding leadership within health care and university settings and is a recipient of the ADHA and Johnson & Johnson Award for Excellence. Kelly has been fully invested in developing leadership within dental hygiene for over 20 years through mentoring, coaching, and serving the profession. Kelly focused her doctoral studies on understanding leadership skills and methods to develop leadership among dental hygienists. *Courses Approved by the PA Academy of Dental Hygiene Studies Acceptable for DMDs, RDHs, EFDAs Fee for the Course: $60.00 for PDHA Members (must be a member of ADHA/PDHA to attend) Seating is limited. There may not be registrations available on the day of the course. Late registration fee will apply to registrations after March 15, 2020. There will be a networking social at 8pm on Friday evening, April 24th. The PDHA Board of Trustees meeting will follow the course on Saturday April 25th from 4pm-7pm and will resume on Sunday April 26th at 9am. Attendance by course attendees at the Friday evening social and Board meeting sessions is encouraged. You must be in attendance for the entire seminar to receive credit. NO REFUNDS! If PDHA must cancel the course, your fee will be fully refunded. *While we make every effort to run courses that will count towards your license renewal, the State Board of Dentistry has the final say on what courses they will accept based on the state practice act.
