Baptismal Thanksgiving

As I write this article for the December newsletter, I am sitting in the kitchen of my son’s home in North Carolina. It is 37 degrees outside with a slight wind. It is indeed chilly and adds to the sense of celebration for this year’s Thanksgiving Day events.

The cold temperature is the best reason for heating the house with the stove! Bring on the turkey, the mashed potatoes, the green-bean casserole, the pumpkin pie and the German chocolate cake! As the house warms it is filled with the aroma of all the foods that make Thanksgiving so special.

This year is very special for us; especially so, as we celebrate the baptism of our grandson, Gunnar. Here is a picture of us with my son, his wife and Gunnar. The baptism took place in the JFK Memorial Chapel at Ft. Hood, NC. As we took out the candle to light it and give it to the family, I mentioned how every year they should throw a party and light the candle as a remembrance of this important event. Mission and Evangelism News From Lamb of God’s Mission Statement: “The purpose of

Lamb of God LCMS is to proclaim God’s love in Jesus to each other, to our community, and to the world…”

Jesus said to them “I am the Bread of Life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger and

whoever believes in me shall never thirsts.”

John 6:35

This is the verse that is included with the loaves of bread given out at the end of each service to guests and members to remind them that Jesus is the Bread of Life and to encourage continued worship with us at Lamb of God. Please enjoy the bread or take it to share with a neighbor, friend or neighbor that needs the message of the Bread of Life, Jesus. Remember our members that are at home because of illness; share a loaf of bread and a visit with them.

We also have our meetings at 11:15

am on the second Wednesday of

each month, after Bible class. We

would love to have you join us! Call

Sharon Mahnke 504-578-7479.

Community Christian Concern Please continue to bring your pantry

items to the CCC basket, now located

in the Narthex. Items are delivered on

the fourth Wednesday of the month!

of anyone who has been in the hospital, has

been ill or has a family death and needs a meal

so that the care committee can extend an offer

to help. Anyone interested in participating in this

service to others can contact Jackie Kennedy at

985-640-5400.

Helping Our Neighbors at Trinity Lutheran Church, Panama City, FL

The Mission & Evangelism committee has been in contact with Pastor Paul McComack of Trinity Lutheran

Church in Panama City, Florida. We have requested information on one-two families (with young children) from

Trinity that our congregation can help provide a Christmas. He assures us that there are many to

suggest! He will provide us with some information after Thanksgiving. As soon as we can, information on the

ages, sizes, needs and wants on all the family members will be provided to our congregation. All items will be

transported over to Panama City before Christmas!!! Help us give to those families who have lost everything!!!

The Mission and Evangelism Committee has a fund to accept all payments and donations for our projects

(except Mt. Olive Feeding Ministry) Instead of writing on the memo line for whatever projects we have (example:

shirts; Christmas gifts, etc.) now you simply write the check to Lamb of God Lutheran Church and put on the

memo line: Mission and Evangelism Fund. The ONLY exception is for donations to Mt. Olive

Feeding Ministry Fund!!
