ThefinalcollaborationbetweenRichardRodgers&OscarHammersteinII,TheSoundofMusic,hasbecomeaplaybelovedaroundtheworld.BasedonthetruestoryoftheVonTrappFamilySingers,thisplaycapturesapersonaltaleofgrowthandhopeamidstthehorrorsofWorldWarII.TheSoundofMusictellsthetaleofyoungpostulantMariaRainer,whosefreespirithastroublefittingintotherulesandregulationsofNonnbergAbbey.CommissionedbytheMotherAbbesstoserveasthegovernessforsevenmotherlesschildren,MariatransformstheVonTrappfamilyhomefromaplaceofdourrulesandregulationstoonefilledwithjoy,withlaughter,andwithmusic.Intheprocess,Mariawinstheheartsofallsevenchildren--andtheirwidowerfather,CaptainVonTrapp.WiththeMotherAbbess’blessing,andtothechildren’sdelight,Mariafollowsherheart,andMariaandtheCaptainmarry.Uponreturninghomefromtheirhoneymoon,MariaandtheCaptainlearnthattheirbelovedAustriahasbeentakenoverbytheNazis,andtheretiredCaptainisaskedtoreportforimmediateserviceintheNaziNavy.WhentheNazisshowupattheirdoortotakeCaptainVonTrappaway,itisafamilysingingengagement(wilynavigatedbytheirfriendMax)thatbuysthefamilytimetomaketheirnarrowescape.TheirAustrianconvictionscompelMaria,theCaptain,andthechildrentofleeoverthemountainsofSwitzerlandtosafety,takingthewordsoftheMotherAbbesstoheart:“ClimbEveryMountain…tillyoufindyourdream.”

Auditionsforadultcastmembers(includingLiesl)willtakeplaceonTuesday17thAprilatStJohn’sChurch,Radlettfrom7.30pm.Onceallauditionformshavebeenreceived,youwillreceiveanindividualtimeslotforyourauditionAuditionsforchildrenwilltaketheformatofaworkshop,andwilltakeplaceonSunday13thMayatStJohn’sChurch,Radlett(2.30pm-6pm).Childrenmustbeaged6by1stSeptember2018inorderforthemtoabletoperformintheshow.Itwould be great if the two ladies cast forMaria and Liesl,were able attend the children’s auditionworkshop.There will be a non-refundable audition fee of £10 for adults and children for non-members.
