2015 Shine AwardEach year the Shine Award is

presented to a person who is an outstanding volunteer and generously gives his or her time and talents for the benefit of the Lighthouse ArtCenter.

Jane O’Neill is a member of the Board of Directors and chair of the Education Committee. She and her husband Pat chaired the 2012 Annual Beaux Arts Ball. She also coordinates faculty events, started a fund for visiting workshop artists, and helped to start the Plein Air Festival, along with many other projects. It is with gratitude that we thank Mrs. O'Neill for all that she has done for the ArtCenter!

Board NewsThe Lighthouse ArtCenter welcomes

Tricia Trimble to its board of directors.

In 2005, she joined Maltz Jupiter Theatre as Director of Development and its Managing Director in May 2008 until August 2014. She co-led the Theatre from a budget of $3.5 million to $6.2 million, a subscription base of 2,300 to 7,650 and a donor base from 695 to 2,733. Through her efforts the Theatre was also able to pay off a large operating debt, expand the physical facility and secure a $10 million endowment.

In August 2014, Tricia joined her husband Tom at Morgan Stanley forming The Trimble Group and works full-time as a financial advisor. She

serves on the board of The Boys and Girls Club of Martin County.

Mrs. Trimble is a native Floridian raised on Key Biscayne and lives in BallenIsles Country Club.

2014-15 Season D'Art for Art

ArtyBras Pink Cocktail Party & Fashion Show was an “uplifting” success! More than 220 guests enjoyed tasty bites, pink cocktails and a one-of-a-kind fashion show featuring artistically designed bras auctioned to benefit the Jupiter Medical Center.

Champagne, gourmet tea, arty edibles, artistic clothing and the chance to purchase artist-made clothing and accessories highlighted the inaugural, sold-out ArtTea Fashion Show event in January.

Guests got into the 1970’s art scene fun at the Art Dine & Dance Experience and the event raised more than $60,000 for the Lighthouse ArtCenter’s art exhibitions, ArtReach and educational programs.

Fifty professional plein air artists traveled from Alaska, Virginia, Wisconsin and other parts of the United States to capture local beauty for all time during the 2nd Annual Plein Air Festival. Jason Sacran won the $5,000 grand prize.

Carl Bretzke won the $1,000 Quick Draw Paint Out prize. Festival attendance was over 1,000 and more than 55 paintings sold.

In our ArtReach program, we offer

art instruction and materials to individuals who would otherwise

have little opportu-nity to participate in

artistically creative pro-cesses. We serve students with mental and/or physical handicaps, as well as those who are economically disadvan-taged or elderly. Our programs bring the joy and healing of artistic expres-sion to those where it is lacking, and we also welcome students to our loca-tion to experience the ArtCenter. Our

comprehensive curriculums address the specific needs of these students. In 2014-15, we have the privilege of work-ing with Martin County Special Needs, New Day Adult Care, El Sol Commu-nity Resource Center, Jupiter Medical Center, Beyond Blind Institute, River-Bend Academy at Sandy Pines, as well as numerous local schools and special needs programs. The positive impact this program has had on the individ-ual students and our community is remarkable, and would not be possible without the continued support of our members, donors and grants.

As part of an international effort to fight hunger, the Lighthouse ArtCenter was the source for 1,000 ceramic bowls at Empty Bowls 2015. More than 350 people volunteered in our ceramics studio in the five-month effort to cre-ate the one-of-a-kind bowls that were sold at two events in February. We are proud to have been a part of this successful fundraiser that raised nearly $50,000 for the Palm Beach County

Food Bank! Participants in the ceram-ics studio ranged in age from 2 to 89, from complete novices to professional ceramic artists. Helping to feed the hungry families in our county through this local effort raised awareness of the power of art, teamwork, community and the need for volunteerism in our culture. We thank the many kind peo-ple who helped us make Empty Bowls 2015 a success!

Empty Bowls

ArtReach: We bring the joy of art to all!

In February, eight Tibetan monks visiting from the Drepung Gomang Monastery created a mandala out of colored sand in the ArtCenter Museum.

Director of Education Cynthia Trone selected the theme of Chenrezig, or Compassion, for the ArtCenter’s own mandala.

More than 1,500 visitors enjoyed the Dalai Lama-sanctioned Sacred Art Tour, and watching the mandala created.

The monks shared their traditions, including making traditional dinners at the ArtCenter, sharing their knowledge of sand art during family workshops, and beginning and ending each day with a meditative chant.

The week-long event culminated with a special ceremony dissolution of the sacred sand mandala and blessing of the Jupiter Inlet and waterway at the Jupiter Lighthouse.

Nov. 19, 2015 to March 5, 2016 • Two Centuries of American Art: Manoogian CollectionConsidered to be one of the most significant p r i v a t e c o l l e c t i o n s of American art compiled during the 20th century. This landmark exhibition will include 19th- and 20th-century American paintings.

The collection has been at the White House, The National Gallery of Art, The Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Detroit Institute of Art, among other museums, as well as tours outside of the country.

submissions to art competitions. The ArtCenter is making this easier and affordable with professional photographer and ArtCenter faculty member David R. Randell photographing of your art in

the ArtCenter's Photo Studio. Wait while your art is photographed or come back to pick up your pieces. Within one week, digital files will be ready online or on a CD. For $65, you will receive high-resolution images up to five pieces (suitable for printing and reproduction), plus lower resolution versions for submissions and posting online. He comes to us from Kentucky, where he earned his BA in Art Studio at the University of Kentucky. He will be supervising the ceramic studio, teaching classes and summer camp, and being the heart of our vibrant ceramics community.

The Lighthouse ArtCenter welcomes young adults from age 15 to 18 to join our Teen Internship Program. As an integral part of our 10-week Summer Enrichment ArtCamp, teens assist faculty in the dynamic multi-media studios. Teens earn community service hours for their participation. Many of our teen interns have gone on to earn their Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts, and their experience here often ignites an interest in teaching and artistic potential.

Mandatory orientation is on Tuesday, May 19th, from 6 to 7 p.m. at the School of Art.

During our 45th Annual Summer Enrichment ArtCamp, youth ages 4 to 12, will explore drawing, painting and ceramics. Along with multiple art projects, kids are exposed to art history, renowned artists and world cultures. Fun Fridays include a visit from Jupiter Academy of Music and Absolute Music, as well as a guided tour of the exhibitions at the Museum.

Week 1: June 8-12 Meet the MET (New York City) Explore the largest art museum in the United States and one of the ten largest in the world. New York is the city “that never sleeps” and the art world there is wide awake and thriving!

Week 2: June 15-19 La La LoUVRE (france)Bonjour Paris! We’re exploring the famous masterpieces at the world’s most visited museum, while discovering the wonderful art scene found all around Paris. After this week of camp, Mona Lisa won’t be the only one smiling!

Week 3: June 22-26 Ah....Acropolis (Greece)On the archaeological site of Makrygianni and the ruins of a part of Roman and early Byzantine Athens, we will virtually tour many of the artifacts that Greece has to offer.

dEAR STUdENT: We are a nonprofit 501(c)(3) charitable organization. Tuition fees cover only 60% of the costs of operating the school. The balance is raised through donations, fundraisers and member support. We must abide by these policies in order to be here to serve you and future generations. Classes are now only available to current members of the Lighthouse ArtCenter. REGISTRATIoN ANd REfUNd PoLICY: Included in each course registration is a non-refundable $25 registration fee. To withdraw, students must submit a written withdrawal request at least five working days prior to the start of the course. Students who meet this requirement will receive a full tuition refund minus the registration fee. Students who withdraw less than five working days before the start of that course will not receive a refund. There are no exceptions.

PRoRATING: If space is available, and if approved by the instructor, classes in Late

Spring, Spring, Summer, Early Fall and Fall will be prorated for a $25 processing fee. Classes enrolled must be consecutive. Full-session students will have priority when registering for classes. There is No prorating in the Winter session.

MISSEd CLASSES: The Lighthouse ArtCen-ter staff always does their best to accom-modate all students. The School of Art is NOT responsible for providing students with make-up classes when a student has missed a class for any reason not the fault of the faculty or the School of Art. There are no refunds or make-ups for missed classes. Upon request, we will issue a tax-deduct-ible contribution receipt for missed classes. CoURSE CHANGES/CANCELLEd CoURSES: The School of Art reserves the right to sub-stitute instructors for any of its classes at any point in any term and to change its calendar, withdraw or modify a course at any time. Classes or workshops cancelled due to inclement weather or instructor absence will

be rescheduled according to studio availabil-ity. Students enrolled in courses which are cancelled by the School of Art will receive a full refund. In the event that a course or work-shop is cancelled, every effort will be made to notify students as quickly as possible. Off-site classes (i.e. Plein Air) will receive emails the evening before class announcing the location. SAfETY & LIABILITY: While the student can be assured that every reasonable safety pre-caution will be followed, the ArtCenter will not assume liability for injuries that occur within the scope of the subject area for which the student is enrolled. By completing reg-istration online or in person for any course, the student agrees to assume all reasonable liability from injuries related to the scope of the work being taught and releases the Light-house ArtCenter from any liability claims related to any injuries and/or accidents that may occur.

Exhibitions: Nearly 30,000 visitors see a dozen or more unique exhibi-tions a year. There are guided tours of these ArtCenter curated exhibitions for adults, families and school children on field trips.

Special Events: Every 3rd Thursday at 5:30 p.m. is a reception featuring exhibition openings, lectures, concerts or performances, along with other exciting cultural events.

Gift Shop: Artist-made jewelry, ceramics, paintings and greeting cards are made by our members. Featured books are also written by ArtCenter members. They make ideal gifts while supporting our creative community.

Artists' Guild Gallery: The ArtCenter offers juried guild members the chance to display and sell their work, as well as off-site exhibition opportunities.

School of ArtMuseum & GalleryEvery year, more than 1,500 adult

students and 800 youth students learn from outstanding professional artist instructors about ceramics, drawing, jewelry, mixed media, painting, pho-tography, Photoshop and sculpture.

More than 400 kids, aged 4 to 12 enjoy an enrichment ArtCamp every summer. Funds are raised to offer scholarships to families in need.

Our Art Supply Store carries many items selected by our instructors for your class supply list and artistic gifts.

The School of Art building is handicapped accessible.
