La Posada – Age in place Elder care: Palm Beach Gardens, Florida La Posada is a resort-style community on Florida's Gold Coast owned by Westport Senior Living, a national leader in senior living communities. This project was constructed with unparalleled luxury, including 206 independent living units, 48 assisted living units, a community health center, an Alzheimer's center, a full feature bank, investment services, beauty salon, health spa, specialty shops and boutique. Rink Reynolds Diamond Fisher Architects of Jacksonville, Fla. was the lead designer for the project. Originally w e w e r e contracted by Perini Corporation for shell construction, our firm was later awarded the Prime-Subcontract for the balance of the project acting as general contractor under Perini’s management (CM). We self-performed all of the concrete and framing aspects of the project, as well as interior trim and casework. At the height of the project, we had over 100 unio n carpenter’s onsite. We completed the project 4 months ahead of schedule and under our contract. We closed-out this project only 120 days after occupancy and collected all monies owed inclusive of all of our outstanding change orders. Woolems was issued a termination for cause notice by Perini for the lack of performance, which facilitated my hire. We negotiated the removal of the notice, the removal of back-charges and were brought back onsite which we successfully completed. Note: The relationship building performed during this phase allowed us to negotiate the 10.6 million dollar restaurant project at Ft. Lauderdale’s Hard-Rock hotel and casino; a project which was designed on-the-fly and went from groundbreaking to completion in 100 days allowing the on-time opening of this facility. Sq. Ft. +/- 700,000 Cost total: +/-$45,000.00 Delivery: Lump-sum / design assist Schedule: 22 months – including interiors. Position: VP of Construction operations
