Lake Superior Community Development CorpLake Superior CDC is a Native CDFI created in 2008 to serve the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community in rural Upper Michigan with training and low-interest loan funds for home and improvements, and small businesses. Over time, the organization has gradually expanded to serve Indian Country throughout the state of Michigan.
CDFI Story - Traditional Treasures, L'Anse, MI
Through its membership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis, the Lake Superior Community Development Corp was able to secure an Elevate Grant for Traditional Treasures, a Native American-owned maple sugar producer in L'Anse, Michigan, selling through Dynamite Hill Farms. As a result of that grant, Traditional Treasures was able to purchase needed equipment to process exponentially more maple syrup and increase employment opportunities while providing traditional foods to the community on and surrounding the L'Anse Reservation in Upper Michigan.
