I just say travelling with a 1 and a half year old (who is verging on becoming a ‘terrible two’) is hard work. I would like to acknowledge Mrs O’Neill for stepping into my role again as well as Mr Tregea and Mr Fitzgerald who also took on extra responsibility. I’d also like to congratulate Mr Fitzgerald who was successful in the applying for the position of Relieving Head Teacher, Engagement. This is a new position that is only till the end of the year. It is a project based position and Mr Fitzgerald is utilising his wealth of knowledge and recent experience in improving our transition programs. This includes working on our Year 7 transition program. There will be further staffing announcement throughout this term as we are currently filling many 2020 staffing positions. I will keep you informed through the P&C and also newsletters when I can. At the P&C meeting I outlined some of the changes that I will be bringing about through the school. Some of these include: Setting major overnight excursions in advance so there is an expectation of when and where certain year groups will be going on educational based excursions. I will draft this document and present it to the P&C at the next meeting. From 2020 we will be moving primary classes to stage-based structures (for example like our existing Year 5/6 class). A review of student leadership in the school. We will perhaps be moving to a school Parliament based on the model I implemented at Euabalong PS. I will be consulting with current student leaders before proceeding with this change. A review of procedure regarding mobile phone usage in secondary. I have many concerns of the use of social media and phones in general in the classroom and playground. As this is a significant change I will be putting that proposal in the newsletter and will be asking for feedback. I’m happy to discuss any of these changes with you if you weren’t able to attend the P&C meeting. I do encourage you to attend the meeting and the next one is on Tuesday 29th October at 6 pm in the LCCS Library. I just heard that we weren’t successful in the My Community Project grant but I wish to thank everyone for their support. Watch this space I am planning on seeking further opportunities to improve “Cargelligo Park “. I am looking forward to another great week of learning next week and again thank you for your continued support in educating your children. The team with their Gold Medallions

Cody with his MVP trophy

Opens Rugby League State Champions Last Friday the Opens Rugby League Team competed at the state finals in Dubbo. The boys played four teams from across the state. The first game saw the team face Bundarra who they completely out classed winning the game 48-6. Cody Collins had a field day scoring three tries and kicking seven goals. Jamie Morris crossed for two tries with Malcolm Watts, Zac Brown and Jack Little also crossing for tries. In the second game of the day the boy’s faced Coolah. This was a much tighter affair with the boys finishing winners 28-26. Coolah was a much bigger side made up of predominantly year 12 students compared to our team which was made up of students from year 9, 10 and 11, this made the win even more impressive. Logan Biggin hit form scoring a hat trick of tries, with Cody Collins and Jack Little each scoring one. Cody was again consistent with the boot kicking four goals. Game three saw the team face Woodenbong. This game was a very heated match with Woodenbong attempting to rattle the boys with big hits and some un-sportsman like tactics. This did not faze our boys only encouraging them to lift their intensity. Jamie Morris was outstanding with several big runs and bone rattling defence. Zac Brown also led from the front with some massive hits and strong runs, he also crossed the line for a four pointer. The team came out winners 26-14 with Cody Collins the star of the match scoring four tries and kicking three crucial goals, Cody was also outstanding in defence, punishing the opposition with some huge hits. This win was even more impressive considering the star of game two against Coolah Logan Biggin went down with an injury which saw him unable to continue. Beau Twomey also played bravely through a shoulder injury pulling off a number of big shots. The final game of the day came against Menindee. The team was now down to only seven players and a number of boys were carrying injuries into the game. This did not faze our boys who again lifted like champions for the game playing an outstanding brand of football. It was a very back and forth match with both teams swapping the lead several times in the first half. The team took a slender four point lead into the half time break. The second half saw much of the same with the lead changing hands a number of times. Our boys were showing the signs of fatigue but lifted and took the game 32-28. Cody Collins was again outstanding scoring four tries and kicking four goals. Jack Little was another stand out displaying lightning speed scoring two tries. Each member of the team can hold their head high and be extremely proud of their efforts. Despite being outsized by the opposition each and every team member

played with true LCCS spirit and courage. The boys truly did themselves, their school and the community proud. After going through the tournament undefeated the team was crowned Opens Rugby League State Champions, an outstanding achievement. Cody Collins was awarded MVP of the tournament with Jamie Morris coming in a close second. Well done boys. Mr Carter Open team Zac Brown, Cody Collins, Logan Biggin, Jamie Morris, Malcolm Watts, Jack Little, Beau Twomey, Harry Luck, James Fell
