Musical Theatre Lab Syllabus Spring 2015 MTR 111 Sec. 01 Musical Theatre Lab is graded on a Pass/Fail as it is a 0 credit Course. Purpose: the teaching of the Business of Musical Theatre and to prepare majors for the professional world of entertainment by bringing in Guest Artist who can impart to each student their experience and knowledge. Students will learn many aspects of the business, from performing, to finding agents, producing and song writing. Attendance: As this class meets only once weekly, no more than 2 absences for Passing Grade. These absences can be for any purpose, illness, rehearsals, meetings and family emergencies. Attendance will be taken in the first 10 minutes of class. (Exceptions are made for Musical Theatre performance with permission of instructor.) In the event of special guest artists being scheduled outside of the Monday night 7-9 time periods, students will be required to attend only when given 4 weeks prior notice to arrange work or performance schedules. During these weeks, the scheduled Monday night Lab will be cancelled and the extra lab will take its place in that given week. No matter the length of a specific class, each meeting is equivalent to one hour of class for attendance purposes. If you are asked to sing with your class for audition preparation or a final and you are not prepared, it is the equivalent to an absence. Preparation is judged on memory, knowledge of melody and accompaniment.
