Courtyard Gathering SpaceCommunity Environment:This high school attracts enrollment due to its quality programs and is best accommodated in a new facility that is designed to specifically offer the features needed for these CTE programs. Consolidating a group of career academy programs in one location for better articulation among instructors was our goal. This new facility makes it possible to facilitate curriculum integration efforts within the career center, enhance student/teacher networking and faculty interaction. This new facility will foster successful students who will be better prepared for such outcomes as learning industry-standard skills in preparation for transition to employment and/or community colleges/private postsecondary institutions that offer these career technology programs.

Building “M” Career Technical Education Floor Plan and MaterialsPhysical EnvironmentLQHS design of the Career Technology Education (CTE) is an anchor at the end of a new mall concept. The multipurpose room is the other anchor and in-between are structures housing science labs and classrooms. The Culinary Arts Institute, Public Services Academy (PSA) and Medical Health Academy (HSA) are grouped together to create a synergy of learning between these various career pathways. The fabric sheltered courtyard serves as the commons area supporting many various functions – outdoor dining, overflow lecture space from adjacent PSA operable glass door wall lecture classroom, overflow dining from adjacent culinary arts operable glass wall, dining room, health fairs, fund raising, and public outreach events.
