Over 2,000 years ago in the town of Nazareth, there lived a young woman named Mary.

Hace dos mil aos en la cuidad de Nazaret, viva una joven llamada Mara.

Mary was soon to become the wife of a good and kind carpenter named Joseph.

Mara pronto se convirti en esposa de Jos, un carpintero bueno y amable.

One night, an angel appeared to Mary.

The angel said, I have some wonderful news! You are going to have a baby. His name will beJesus and He will be the Son of God.

El ngel le dijo: Tengo una noticia estupendo! Tendrs un bebe! Su nombre serJess y el ser el Hijo de Dios.

Mary was amazed. She said, I am ready to do whatever God wants me to do.

Mara se sorprendi. Ella dijo, Estoy lista para hacer lo que sea que Dios quieraque yo haga.

Some time later, Caesar Augustus made a new law. Every person had to go back to the townwhere they were born to pay money to the government.

Poco despus, el emperador Augusto Cesar haba promulgado una nueva ley. Todosdeban volver a la cuidad donde haban nacido y pagar dinero al Estado.

Joseph and Mary had to travel to Bethlehem. It was a long and difficult trip, and Mary was verybig and pregnant.

Jos y Mara tenan que viajar a Beln. Era un viaje largo y difcil, y Mara tendrapronto a su beb.

Joseph and Mary arrived in Bethlehem, but could not find a place to stay. Every inn was full.

Jos y Maria llegaran a Beln, pero no podan encontrar un lugar para quedarse.Todas las posadas estaban llenas.

Joseph knocked at one last door. The innkeeper said, I wish I could help you, but my innis full.

Jos toco a la ltima puerta, y el posadero le dijo, Me encantara ayudarlos, peromi posada est llena.

The innkeeper then thought for a moment. I have a stable out back, he said. Youre welcometo stay there.

Joseph thanked the innkeeper and then led Mary and the donkey to the stable.

There, baby Jesus was born.

Mary wrapped the baby in a blanket and put him in the manger.

That same night, a group of shepherds were watching their sheep on a hillside.

Suddenly the sky was filled with angels! The angels told the shepherds, Today Christ the Lordhas been born! You will find the baby lying in a manger.

De pronto, todo el cielo se lleno de ngeles! Los ngeles dijeron a los pastores: Hoy ha nacido Cristo, el Seor! Hallarn al nio acostado en un pesebre.

The shepherds hurried toward Bethlehem, where they found the stable, baby Jesus, Mary andJoseph.

Los pastores se apresuraron a ir a Beln, donde hallaron el establo, al Nio Jess, aMara y Jos.

Far away, in another country, lived some wise men. A special star led the wise men to whereJesus was.

Muy lejos, en otra tierra, vivan unos sabios. Una estrella guio a los sabios a dondeestaba Jess.

The wise men knelt down before Jesus and gave him giftsgold, frankincense and myrrh.

Los sabios se arrodillaron frente al Nio y le dieron regalos: oro, incienso y mirra.

And that is the story of the first Christmas, when God sent his son Jesus to earth.

Eso es, pues, el relato de la primera navidad, cuando Dios nos envi a Jess, su Hijo.
