AND VIGOROUS, FIBROUS ROOT SYSTEMS.
10. TREES AND SHRUBS SHALL BE FREE FROM DEFECTS AND INJURIES AND
CERTIFIED BY APPROPRIATE FEDERAL AND STATE AUTHORITIES TO BE
FREE FROM DISEASES AND INSECT INFESTATIONS.
11. TREES AND SHRUBS SHALL BE FRESHLY DUG AND NURSERY GROWN.
THEY SHALL HAVE BEEN GROWN UNDER CLIMACTIC CONDITIONS
SIMILAR TO THOSE IN THE LOCALITY OF THE PROJECT OR PROPERTY
ACCLIMATED TO CONDITIONS OF THE LOCALITY OF THE PROJECT.
12. ANY TREE OR SHRUB WHICH DIES WITHIN THE 1 YEAR MAINTENANCE
PERIOD SHALL BE REPLACED BY THE LANDSCAPE CONTRACTOR.
13. IT SHALL BE THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE LANDOWNERS, TENANTS
AND/OR OTHER OCCUPANTS OF THE PREMISES TO ADEQUATELY AND
PROPERLY MAINTAIN THE LANDSCAPED AREAS, WHICH RESPONSIBILITY
SHALL INCLUDE WATERING, CLEANING OF WEEDS AND DEBRIS,
PRUNING AND TRIMMING, REPLACEMENT OF DEAD OR DISEASED
PLANTINGS AND FERTILIZING TO MAINTAIN HEALTHY GROWTH.
GREEN ROOF OPERATIONS AND MAINTENANCE PROGRAM
THE VEGETATED AREAS OF THIS PROJECT WILL REQUIRE ON-GOING REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND
INSPECTION. THE GREEN ROOF AREA WILL REQUIRE MAINTENANCE A MINIMUM OF FOUR TIMES PER
GROWING SEASON (APR - OCT).
MAINTENANCE ACTIVITIES ON THE GREEN ROOF WILL INCLUDE:
· HAND WEEDING AND REMOVAL OF PLANT MATTER. CLEAN OPERATING PROTOCOLS SHOULD BE
FOLLOWED TO MINIMIZE THE TRACKING OF WEED SEEDS ONTO THE ROOF BY MAINTENANCE CREWS
DURING MAINTENANCE.
· AS NEEDED, HARVEST AND SPREAD SEDUM CUTTINGS ONTO PORTIONS OF THE ROOF WITH SPARSER
COVERAGE
· AS NEEDED, SEPARATE AND TRANSPLANT STRONG PLANTS TO PORTIONS OF THE ROOF WITH SPARSER
COVERAGE
· FERTILIZE IN THE SPRING USING A SLOW-RELEASE NITROGEN-ONLY FERTILIZER AMENDMENT. THE
APPLICATION RATE SHOULD BE DETERMINED BASED ON ANNUAL SOIL TEST.
· APPLY ADDITIONAL NUTRITIONAL AMENDMENTS RECOMMENDED BY THE SOIL TEST RESULTS
· REMOVE PLANTS FROM VEGETATION FREE ZONES
· OPEN AND EXAMINE ALL DRAIN ACCESS CHAMBERS AND SCUPPERS TO VERIFY THAT THEY ARE OPEN
AND OPERATING PROPERLY
· EVALUATE SOIL MOISTURE FOR INDICATIONS OF INSUFFICIENT OR EXCESSIVE MOISTURE IN THE SOIL
· REPORT INCIDENCES OF WIND SCOUR TO THE SYSTEM PROVIDER OR MAINTENANCE CONSULTANT
· INVENTORY PLANT TYPE, EVALUATE OVERALL COVERAGE, AND RECORD WEED ACTIVITY
· DURING THE FIRST 24 MONTHS, TEMPORARY IRRIGATION SHALL BE PROVIDED AND INSPECTED ON A
