ORIENTAL RUGS AN IM PORTANT FACTOR IN
• SUCCESSFUL HOME I DECORATION
' By N. Mont Wayne,Manager Rug Department, Dauler-
%
v- Close Furniture Co.
Oriental rugs are important factors in successful home decorating. The colorful charm of a beautiful oriental rug has lent distinction to many a room in many a home, and the general public "is becoming more appreciative of their merit as time goes on.
Not a little of this increasing ap preciation is due to the efforts of re liable dealers in oriental rugs whose business standards are such as to in spire confidence.
The history of oriental rugs dates back some four hundred years, and up to the present time there has been nothing in the way of floor coverings that approaches their beauty of de sign, coloring, and texture.
Already it is difficult to find in many of the oriental rug departments in the. various- stores old types such as Ghiordes, Sennas, Old Kirmans, Berg- amos, and Kulahs. Wherever we find these pieces today they should be carefully preserved as in another thirty years they will be utterly un obtainable except in homes.
- • With the political changes in for eign lands and commercial changes the typical rugs are fast losing their characteristics. Many rugs are sold today, entirely, on price,, to a public of whom many on] y know oriental rugs because some advertiser has sold them a bill. Had the purchaser a case of appendicitis she would call a spe cialist; like care should be taken in the purchase of oriental rugs.
With many people the purchase of oriental rugs is a hobby, with, many a desire to have the beautiful "ciar'pet" on their floors. It is a well kno.vni-ifact that you can build a beautiful room with an oriental rug as the'-floor-eov- ering, nevertheless, -discrimination must be used in the
