Three basic kosher rules: Blood should be removed from food.

God commanded the Jews not to eat meat with blood in it because blood represents life. A carcass is hung up to drain, then a joint of meat is soaked in salt water to extract the blood. Once the meat is rinsed it can be cooked.

Only meat from permitted animals can be eaten. Leviticus 11 has detailed instructions about which meat is kosher. Meat that is kosher must come from: Animals that have cloven hooves and chew the cudBirds that are farmedFish that have fin and scales

Meat and milk must not be mixed in a meal

In the Torah it says, You must not boil a kid in its mothers milk. It has been decided that his means meat must not be eaten with milk products. So if a Jew eats a meat meal, they would not have any dairy products during that meal. Milk cannot be changed into butter or cheese. Milk is also in chocolate.

Eggs, fish, fruit, vegetables and cereal can be eaten with meat OR milk.
