SPIRITUAL DIRECTOR CORNER
Dear Brother Knights:
We have seen the recent passing of Brothers Mark Han-
nah and Jack LaSpina as well as Doug Walsh's wife,
Marilyn. Both of our Brothers received the Sacraments
months before and just prior to their deaths. We are
happy for them in the certainty that they died free of
mortal sin and in solid friendship with Jesus.
The dignity with which both men suffered and died and
their undying love of Christ serve as a Christian
model for each of us and a reminder that we need
to take an honest inventory of our own life. We need to
ask ourselves where would I be if the Lord were to call
me tonight. We must remember that the way we are
living today is the way we are preparing to live in all
eternity - either in heaven or hell. Fr. Henry Nouen
said, "If we live well we will die well."
Sadly, we know that everyone does not afford himself
the luxury of a peaceful death. Some of us die tragic
deaths and leave our families spiritually destitute. As
Knights of Columbus, and more importantly as Catho-
lic men, we are called to lead by example. Here are
some questions that immediately face me:
Have I made a real confession recently?
Do I receive the Holy Eucharist every week?
Have I made amends with the people I have injured?
Have I been late in saying, "I love you," to Jesus and
the people who need to hear it?
Have I made financial and funeral preparations for my-
self and my family?
This life on earth is the time of our time for "pass or
fail." Purgatory is for those who are going to heaven
and Hell is reserved for those who leave earth unpre-
pared.
Vivat Jesus!!
Dcn. Dave

month from now on. We want to thank Anthony
Giordano and Knights of Columbus for their
generosity.
Our Prayer Lady will be Kathy Semper.
The Ladies will not be meeting for the months of June,
July and August.
We will resume our meeting in September.
We look forward to having successful meeings and

tember.

District Deputy Report
The month of May is the "month which the piety of the
faithful has especially dedicated to Our Blessed Lady," and
it is the occasion for a "moving tribute of faith and love
which Catholics in every part of the world to the Queen of
Heaven. During this month Catholics, both in church and
in the privacy of the home, offer up to Mary from their
hearts an especially fervent and loving homage of prayer
and veneration. In this month, too, the benefits of God's
mercy come down to us from her throne in greater abun-
dance" Supreme Knight Carl Anderson says, “It is our duty
to help every mother in need.” May is a month to honor our
Mother in Heaven, as well as our Moms and the mother of
our children here on earth. Please take special care of your
mother and wife to further build our domestic church at
home. Also, please remember our Military men and wom-
en who gave their lives for our freedom. On Memorial
Day, the 4th Degree will have Honor Guards at Masses and
ceremonies at many cemeteries across our great state.
Please plan to participate or attend one of these in your ar-
ea to show your respect for these fallen heroes.
