CONDITION:

CAUSE:The suppressor on the line in or the quencher is not oper-ating or has been removed.

RESOLUTION:Inspect the washer or dryer for installation of the quencherand the suppressor as described on the following page.The suppressor assembly is designed to absorb line spikesto prevent damage to the electronic control. Some spikesare above the ability of the suppressor to absorb and causesupressor or control failure. Visually inspect the suppres-sor for signs of discoloration. In the event that the linefilter MOV within the suppressor fails as indicated by theMOV turning from red to black, the board should be in-spected for evidence of damage. Replace suppressor withpart number indicated in the suppressor /quencher table.Replace the board if there is extensive discoloration in theillustrated areas combined with erratic operation.

A quencher is located in the wiring harness near the water level switch on the washer and screwed to the cabinet of thegas dryer in front of the burner assembly. The quenchers are designed to reduce EMI from the water level switch or gasvalve when they change state. EMI generated from a switch state change may cause the electronic control to reset duringa cycle when a quencher has failed or has been removed.

Kit 3952286 is designed to replace the water level switch quencher on EMS1000 washers built prior to 1999. Starting with1999 production the water level switch quencher is integral to the wiring harness necessitating harness replacement forquencher failure.

QUENCHER REPLACEMENT EMS1000 WASHERS PRIOR TO 1999 WITH WATER LEVEL SWITCHIN THE CONSOLE1. Unplug the washer from the AC outlet.

2. Remove the screws from the front bottom of the console and rotate the console up into the service position.

3. Disconnect the violet wire with the white stripe from the pressure switch.

4. Connect either quencher wire into the pressure switch where the violet wire with the white stripe was removed.

5. Reconnect the violet wire with the white stripe to the piggyback connector on the quencher wire.

6. Disconnect the pink wire from the pressure switch.

7. Connect the remaining quencher wire in place of the pink wire on the pressure switch.

8. Connect the pink wire to the piggyback connector on the quencher wire.

9. Route the black quencher wires, along with the pink and tan wires, and use a wire tie to tie them together near thequencher body.

10. Close and secure the console.

11. Reconnect power to the washer.

SUPRESSOR REPLACEMENT EMS1000 and ADVANTECH™ WASHERS1. Remove the 2 control panel screws at the base of the console and rotate the console open into the service position.

2. Remove the electrical tape that secures the suppressor/quencher assembly to the wiring harness.

3. Unplug the suppressor from the power cord connector and the wiring harness connector.

NOTE: On washers it is possible to plug the wiring harness connector directly into the power cord connector BYPASSINGthe suppressor. On dryers the unit will operate without the suppressor plugged in. This will expose the control to linetransients (voltage spikes) that can damage the control. Internal switch closures may also cause the control to reset.NEVER eliminate the supressor or quencher!

SUPRESSOR REPLACEMENT 27” EMS1000 and ADVANTECH™ DRYERS1. Disconnect electrical power.

2. On gas dryers remove the power cord access panel from the rear of the dryer.

3. Remove the power cord from the backsplash.

4. On electric dryers remove the control panel mounting screws and rotate the console open into the service position.

5. Unplug the suppressor from the power cord and wiring harness and replace.

6. Replace all panels and reconnect electrical power.

NOTE: On 29” Dryers remove the rear access panel to gain access to the suppressor assembly located underneath theterminal block.

CONDICIÓN:

CAUSA:El Supresor en la línea o el Atenuador (Quencher) no estáfuncionando o ha sido retirado.

SOLUCIÓN:Inspeccione, como se describe en la página siguiente, lainstalación del Atenuador y del Supresor en la lavadora oen la secadora. El ensamble del Supresor esta diseñadopara absorber los picos de la línea de energía y evitar eldaño del control electrónico. Algunos picos están por en-cima de la capacidad del Supresor y pueden causar fallasen el Supresor o en el Control. Inspeccione visualmenteseñales de decoloración del Supresor. En evento de quefiltro MOV de la línea dentro del Supresor falle, lo cual sepuede ver por el cambio en el color del MOV de rojo anegro, la tarjeta debe inspeccionarse para encontra evi-dencias de daño. Reemplace el Supresor con el númerode parte indicado en la tabla Supresor /Atenuador (Quench-er). Reemplace la tarjeta si la descoloración se extiendea las áreas ilustradas y el funcionamiento es errático.

l Si la pulsera anti-estática no está disponible,toque con su dedo repetidamente el punto deconexión a tierra verde o una parte metálicadel aparato que no esté pintada.

l Antes de sacar la tarjeta del paquete, coloquela bolsa anti-estática en el punto de conexióna tierra verde o en una parte metálica delaparato que no esté pintada.

l Evite tocar las partes electrónicas o loscontactos de las terminales.

l Sostenga las tarjetas electrónicasúnicamente por los bordes.

IMPORTANTE: Electrónica Sensible a DescargaElectrostática (ESD)

No abra el paquete que contiene el reemplazo de la tarjetaelectrónica hasta el momento de instalarla. Las condicionesde ESD están presentes por todas partes. La ESD puededañar o debilitar las tarjetas electrónicas. Puede parecerque la nueva tarjeta trabaja bien después que el serviciotécnico ha terminado, pero la falla puede aparecerposteriormente debido a la tensión de ESD.

l Utilice una pulsera anti-estática. Conecte la pulsera aun punto de conexión a tierra (verde), en una partemetálica del aparato que no esté pintada.

En la lavadora el Atenuador está localizado en el arnés de cables cerca del interruptor del nivel de agua y en la secadoraa gas asegurado al gabinete adelante del ensamble de la resistencia. Los Atenuadores están diseñados para reducir elEMI del interruptor del nivel de agua o de la válvula de gas cuando estos cambian de estado. El EMI generado de uncambio de estado del interruptor puede hacer que el control electrónico se reinicie durante un ciclo cuando el Atenuador(Quencher) ha fallado o ha sido removido.

El kit 3952286 esta diseñado para reemplazar el Atenuador del interruptor del nivel de agua en las lavadoras EMS1000fabricadas antes de 1999.En la producción de comienzos de 1999 el Atenuador del interruptor del nivel de agua se íntegroal arnés de cables lo que hace necesario el reemplazo del arnés si falla el Atenuador.

REEMPLAZO DEL ATENUADOR (QUENCHER) EMS1000 LAVADORAS ANTERIORES A 1999 CON EL INTERRUP-TOR DE NIVEL DE AGUA EN LA CONSOLA

1. Desconecte la lavadora del tomacorriente de AC.

2. Retire los tornillos de la parte inferior delantera de la consola y gire la consola a la posición de servicio.

3. Desconecte del Interruptor de Presión el cable color violeta con trazos blancos.

4. Conecte cualquiera de los cables del Atenuador (Quencher) en el interruptor de presión, en el lugar de donde retiro elcable color violeta con trazos blancos.

5. Reconecte el cable violeta con trazos blancos al conector del cable del Atenuador (Quencher).

6. Desconecte del Interruptor de Presión el cable rosado.

7. Conecte en el Interruptor de Presión, en el lugar de donde retiro el cable rosado, el cable que queda del Atenuador(Quencher).

8. Reconecte el cable rosado al conector del cable del Atenuador (Quencher)

9. Reúna los cables negros del Atenuador (Quencher) junto con el cable rosado y el canela para atarlos. Utilice unamarre de cables para asegurarlos cerca del cuerpo del Atenuador (Quencher).

10. Cierre y asegure la consola.

11. Conecte la lavadora al suministro de energía.

1. Retire los 2 tornillos del panel de control a la base de la consola y ruede la consola abierta a la posición de servicio.

2. Retire la cinta eléctrica que asegura el ensamblaje el Supresor y/o Atenuador (Quencher) al arnés de cables.

3. Desconecte el Supresor del conector del cable de suministro de energía y el arnés de cables del conector.

NOTA: En las lavadoras es posible conectar el conector del arnés de cables directamente en el conector del cable desuministro de energía con una DERIVADA al Supresor. En la secadora la unidad funcionará sin el Supresor conectado.Esto expondrá el control al transito de la línea (los picos de voltaje) lo cual puede dañarlo. Los cierres interiores delinterruptor también pueden causar que el control se reinicie. ¡NUNCA elimine el Supresor o Atenuador (Quencher)!

REEMPLAZO DEL SUPRESOR EN LAS SECADORAS EMS1000 y ADVANTECH™ DE 27”

1. Desconecte el cable de suministro de energía.

2. En la secadora a gas retire el panel de acceso al cable de suminsitro de energía de la parte trasera de la secadora.

3. Retire el cable de suministro de energía eléctrica del protector de salpicaduras trasero.

4. En la secadora eléctrica retire los tornillos de montaje del panel de control y rote la consola abierta a la posición deservicio.

5. Desconecte el Supresor del cable de suministro de energía y del arnés de cables y reemplácelo.

6. Reemplace todos los paneles y conecte el cable de suministro de energía.

NOTA: En la secadora de 29” retire el panel de acceso trasero para alcanzar al ensamble del Supresor localizado debajodel bloque terminales.
