WEEK 8 , TERM 3, 2019
Principal’s Message Wow how quickly time flies. In a couple of weeks it will bring the end of Term 4.
Parent Teacher Interviews
Thank you to all the parents who attended a very important “Parent Teacher” discussion session. To move forward with data presented, parents are now able to work in partnership with the class teacher to enhance learning outcome. I encourage all parents to have a round table conference with their child/ren on the outcomes of the interview session.
Dance Programs
KPS presented an outstanding result across all our dance groups. A huge thanks to all the parents who supported the KPS program. Results from the Kurranulla event demonstrated the skill and high level decorum of our Kirrawee Public School students. and I would also like to thank the KPS staff for their super effort, especially attending the afterhours commitments.
Film By The Sea
“It is with pleasure that the Film by the Sea committee would like to congratulate you on the successful inclusion of your film: Da Veggie Rap in the 2019 Film by the Sea Festival to be held at Event Cinemas

Support Unit Swimming
Next week the support unit students (25), start their swimming program. I encourage ALL families to engage this invaluable learning event. KPS is very lucky to have a facility within walking distance to the school.

STAGE 1 REPORT This week Stage 1 participated in Science Week, we had a wonderful time!
Thank you to all of you how took the time to prepare a Rube Goldberg video, a science fair entry or created
a space vehicle. We had a great day and learnt so much.
In Themework we have been continuing to learn about different cultures and Miss Wallin has let us in an
excellent art lesson, where we learnt how to make rangoli artworks from India.

STAGE 2 REPORT Students in Stage 2 have enjoyed writing persuasive texts on topics relevant to the theme. This includes
discussing people with disabilities, demonstrating empathy and expressing appropriate behaviours. We have
continued our learning on multiplication and division facts, along with exploring the relationship between
equivalent fractions.
Congratulations to all Year 3 and Year 4 boy and girl dancers who competed in the Kurrunulla Dance Festival
on Wednesday 4th September. All groups achieved a place! A successful event for wonderful performers who
also behaved so beautifully throughout the night.
On Tuesday 10th September, students participated in the Science Week activities. Dr Hester (Scientist)
presented a variety of space concepts, and the Stage 2 students asked a lot of interesting and relevant
questions. All primary classes engaged in a Sphero activity, and had lots of fun adjusting the angles and times
to race their Sphero through the lined course. Congratulations to all creative participants in the science fair
exhibit and Rube Goldberg machines – we loved seeing your creations come to life!

STAGE 3 REPORT
A busy term continues in Stage Three as we build towards the end of the term. This week we have enjoyed our
Science Week celebrations with a ‘Science Day’ on Tuesday. Each class was able to attend an information
session with our ‘Science in Schools’ ambassador, Dr Hester, about Space Exploration. Each class then also
had a robotics programing lesson with ‘Sphero’ robots. Well done to all the Stage Three students who
submitted some brilliant entries into the ‘Science Fair’. A lot of time and effort seems to have been put into
these and students across the school were able to learn some fascinating information as they visited the fair.
This Thursday Stage Three will be taking part in Peer Leader training to prepare them for their Peer Support
sessions, beginning in week 9 of this term and continuing throughout Term 4. During their training students will
learn how to be an effective leader in order to be able to inspire others to achieve a goal. In their Peer
Support sessions, our leaders will then run sessions with a small group of students from across the school.
Permission notes for our end of year camp to Berry Sport and Recreation are due back Friday week 9, along
with the initial deposit of $90. Remember, the $90 deposit is needed at this time, however you may pay in full if
you wish. The rest of the payment plan is simply a guide for you, but full payment is required by no later than
Friday Week 7, Term 4 (November 29th).
Kind Regards,
Stage 3 Teachers

SUPPORT UNIT REPORT
As part of our PDHPE program the strand Movement Skill and Performance focuses on active participation in a
broad range of movement contexts to develop movement skill and enhance performance. We have been
taking part in a multi-sport weekly program run through Disability Trust enhancing our movement and ball skills.
We have participated in soccer, netball, basketball and Frisbee drills and games as well as general
coordination and movement development. The students have enjoyed taking part in the sessions and have
also developed interpersonal, turn taking and social skills. We are looking forward to continuing this program
through Term 4.
