The Music Society provides a real opportunity for parents to become truly involved in the musical life of the School. We welcome new members – current and ex-parents, former-pupils, members of staff and patrons outside the School. If you enjoy music and are keen to help your son or daughter make the most of their musical time here at KGS, please do join us. Pupils really benefit from our support

Over the last 26 years, the Music Society has contributed to new grand pianos, violas, xylophones and a double bass and also donated a beautiful Clavinova Piano to the School.

We fund a full year’s music lessons for several pupils who take up “rare” instruments missing from the orchestras. In 2015-2016, four pupils will be able to take up instruments like the oboe, bassoon or trombone.

We give financial support to music workshops and masterclasses, including the dynamic and ever popular Third Year Maroon Town ska workshop, Earth Song African drumming workshop for Second Years and an Opera workshop for First Years.

We have made donations towards new violins and a range of brass instruments which enable every First Year pupil to have experience of playing an instrument.

We have supported the School choir trips to Germany, Venice, Salzburg and most recently, Rome, by funding the hire of inspiring and beautiful performance venues.

Why not get involved?

At every level, from supporting musical events, to serving refreshments at concerts and choral society rehearsals, to becoming a full committee member of the Society, your involvement will help to further the enjoyment of music at Kingston Grammar School. And joining the Music Society is a great way to meet other like-minded parents.

Membership Details:

Annual family membership is only £15 per year.

Please do consider joining the Music Society. You can pay by cash (at the AGM or any other KGS musical function), by cheque or by standing order. And if you can complete the enclosed Gift Aid Form, your contribution goes further.

Gift Aid

The Music Society is a Registered Charity and, with the permission of the taxpayer, is entitled to reclaim income tax from HM Revenue & Customs through the Gift Aid scheme. It helps the Society if your family membership is paid for by a taxpayer who signs the enclosed Gift Aid form. The subscription for future years will be added to the School bill if you pay by cash or cheque.
