Welcome to Kingston Community School. I was privileged to be involved in the Australia Day Ceremony where the Kingston Community School Pedal Prix Team was awarded Community Event of the Year. Congratulaons to the teams for their dedicaon and to Mr Watson for his movaon as the organiser of the event. This event would not be possible without all the parent and community support and sponsorship. It is a great partnership and on we hope to connue it over the coming years. The site improvement focus for the year is consolidaon of work started over the last three years, building learner capacity, making our learners powerful, resilient and responsible by teaching them how to learn and analyse. It is my goal that we have a producve partnership with all families to ensure all students reach their learning potenal and make a year’s worth of improvement for a year’s worth of input. Having a strong partnership with families to support this learning is essenal to success and students meeng their goals. To do this we need to work closely with all parents. The staff will connue to build their capacity as teachers through further developing understanding of assessment, standards and moderaon. My aim is to embed this pracce and focus on our core business of preparing students for later life through improved literacy, numeracy and 21 st century learning skills, as these aributes are crucial in becoming a producve and valuable community member. We again had wonderful SACE results in 2015 with 100% SACE compleon. This is a credit to our students and their teachers and we congratulate the 2015 Year 12 students for their pleasing academic results.

Special congratulations to Jordana Troeth for her Merit in Research Project and for being awarded the “Young Citizen of the Year” on Australia Day.

I would like to take this opportunity to invite all parents and caregivers to Acquaintance Night to learn about the expectations and curriculum at their child’s year level. There will be an opportunity to meet all specialist teachers in a relaxed and friendly environment. You can also take the opportunity to have a tour of the school, as many parents have not had the opportunity to see all our facilities.

As I start my week as Principal of Kingston Community School, I feel very privileged to be leading a hard working, dedicated team and I am very proud of the friendliness that has been shown to new students and staff. It has been fantastic to see such endeavour by students in our first week and it amazes me how quickly students adapt and learn.

Best Wishes.Lucretia Tocaciu.
