28. K – AMERICAN LEGION, JOHN MCNEIL POST #217 – Open to all King Philip Seniors residing in Plainville. Applications from all Plainville seniors will be considered however, a preference will be given to those students who have family that has served in the military. (Donor Selects)

K – BRIAN COLLENTRO MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – Essay Required - Must have participated in an activity within the King Philip Community (sport, club, volunteer, or work) and demonstrated dedication, leadership, teamwork and a strong work ethic within the activity. Applicants should submit a short (no more than 500 words) essay explaining how he/she exhibited these qualities while overcoming a difficult situation or hardship. (Donor Selects)

30. BUBBA STRONG CHARITABLE SCHOLARSHIP – Essay Required - Candidates for consideration to receive this scholarship shall be residents from Norfolk, Plainville or Wrentham who are currently enrolled as a senior in high school, plan on attending college (2 year accredited community college, or a 4 year accredited college or university) in the Fall of 2017, and have been impacted, directly or indirectly (i.e. the student or an immediate family member of the student), by a life-threatening disease. Essay required – Candidates are required to write a 250-minimum word essay (font size 12, single spaced) stating their reason for applying for this scholarship and explaining how they have been personally impacted by this particular life-threatening disease. (Donor Selects) 31. K – BYRNE FINANCIAL FREEDOM SCHOLARSHIP – Essay Required - Open to all King Philip seniors. Applicants are required to submit a 500 word or less essay on the following: “Why do you think Financial Planning is important?” (Donor Selects) 32. DENTAL ASSOCIATES OF WALPOLE SCHOLARSHIP – SEPARATE APPLICATION REQUIRED – This scholarship is open to seniors who

are pursuing their studies in dentistry, medicine, dental hygiene, nursing or other medically related fields. Applicants must have a GPA between 3.2-4.0. Dental Associates of Walpole Scholarship applications can be picked-up in the Guidance Office. (Donor Selects) 33. K – EILEEN M. HAMLIN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP – A King Philip Senior with financial need; must be very involved in community service. (Donor Selects) 34. K – FRIENDS OF KING PHILIP TRACK & CROSS COUNTRY – Essay/Paragraph Required - Open to all King Philip seniors who participated in Cross Country, Indoor Track and/or Spring Track who has exhibited a positive attitude, put forth extreme effort and models excellent sportsmanship throughout their career. Optional – Candidates are invited to submit a 5-7 sentence paragraph about what Track and/or Cross Country has meant to them during their high school career. (Donor Selects) 35. FRIENDS OF THE FISKE LIBRARY – Essay Required - Must be 2017 high school graduate from the town of Wrentham, with a parent/family member that is a current member of the Friends of the Fiske organization (Anyone who makes a donation to the Friends of the Fiske’s current annual appeal is considered to be a member of the Friends of the Fiske). Essay Required – submit essay that is approximately 250 words about a book that has influenced your life (include the name of the FOF family member on the bottom of the essay). Note: Relatives of library employees, trustees or FOF board members are not eligible to apply. (Donor Selects) 36. K – GEOFFREY B. SWAN SCHOLARSHIP – A King Philip Senior continuing his/her education in the field of art and who has shown excellence in art achievement. (Donor Selects) 37. K – GEORGE W. McINNIS WRENTHAM AMERICAN LEGION SCHOLARSHIP – All King Philip Seniors from Wrentham are eligible. Must have a parent, grandparent or great-grandparent (including adopted and stepparents) on Active Duty, in the Reserve or of Veteran status of the United States Military. Seniors must also be involved with community service during their high school years. (Donor Selects)

38. HENRY CARR SCHOLARSHIP – Essay Required - If you want to ask one question, ask yourself, what are you giving to the universe and only

that will be returned.” - Amit Ray Henry Carr gave to the whole KP universe and beyond. His gifts were not limited to one activity or one peer group. His ubiquitous appeal to every corner and person in the KP universe was the fact that his concern and friendship was “real.” He gave—not because of recognition—but because he loved the diverse people and personalities that make up the King Philip community. And when Henry was diagnosed with cancer in the spring of 2014, he received that love back from the King Philip family. This reciprocal relationship continued for two more years. Cancer did not stop Henry from giving to our community—not even when his cancer returned and not even when it became terminal. And through that courageous battle, he leaned on KP after having given so much to our universe. One of Henry’s questions to himself and others throughout his battle was "Tell me what is it you plan to do with your one wild & precious life?" So what is your answer to Henry? As importantly, how
