EYEDEA PRESENTS: KIM WINSER OBE ! PAGE2

University Women’s Club | 2 South Audley Street, London, W1K 1DB | www.eyedea.org.uk

Kim Winser is a highly talented tennis player, leading businesswoman, private

equity connoisseur and we are truly lucky to

host her tonight. Kim is part of the 0.17% of the UK’s population that has been honored

by the Queen with the Order of the British

Empire. How do you get awarded an OBE?

Changing the face of the retail industry

certainly helps..

Fresh out of secondary school, Kim Winser

was contemplating a career in tennis, and

would have provided the Williams sisters very tough competition no doubt. Instead, in

1977 she joined the management training

program at M&S and soon became their

youngest appointed divisional director, the first for a female in the commercial field.

Kim, eager for new challenges, was presented with the opportunity to turn

around Pringle of Scotland in 1999. She took

the former men’s golf wear label and

revamped it into the fashionable brand we know today. Having improved the Hawick

factories, she took the brand to Bond Street, Sloane Street and Pringle made a ‘wow-

factor’ debut during Fashion week.

Amongst Kim’s repertoire we also see the revival and expansion of Aquascutum,

where she brought in Gisele Bundchen and

Pierce Brosnan as the new faces of the brand. Ms. Winser was also the driving

force behind the turnaround of Agent Provocateur and is on the Board of our

favourite French Sole. Her achievements for the industry, widely appreciated by the fashionistas, are well documented – BBC

hosted two programs dedicated to Ms. Winser, and she was honored as one of the top 3 most successful businesswomen ever by

the Wall Street Journal (Europe).

Her accomplishments for charity cannot go

unmentioned. She is an Ambassador for

Cancer Research UK, for which we are fundraising tonight, has done extensive work with the HRH Prince Charles for The Prince's and Lady Helen Taylor for CLIC

Sargent.

A vivacious personality, devoted mother and

dedicated charitable personality, Kim

Winser is a true tour de force. Enjoy!
