One Amazing Night May 21
Hi There! It is rather diffi cult to believe that we are in the midst of April already,
and closing in on another well-deserved vacation!I am excited to report that One Amazing Night is scheduled for Thurs-
day, May 21st! This magnifi cent evening is planned to commence at 5:30. It will be jam packed with an eclective array of activities for everyone! It promises to be another extraordinary family oriented event, so come one, come all! I would also like to extend my gratitude to the One Amazing Night Committee for their stamina and perseverance in partaking in an event of this magnitude!
Additionally, our April general meeting date has been changed to Monday April the 27th at 7:00 in the school library. We will have Dr. McIntyre on hand to discuss the impending budget. Participation is a vital part of the process as the Barrington Schools’ budget is developed for the upcoming academic school year. So we ask you to join us, and stay tuned to learn more about the budget as it unfolds, and be prepared to participate in the process.
In other news, our Nominating Chair, Donna Williams is currently re-cruiting parents for PTO positions that will be vacated at the close of this year. There are executive positions as well as general committee positions available. Remember, it’s never too late to “pay it forward!” Please contact her with inquiries at [email protected].
Moreover, you are always welcomed to contact me with questions, con-cerns, or if you would like to become involved with the PTO. The best way to reach me is via my email at [email protected], for I am teaching all day.
Finally, I hope to see you at our next scheduled meeting, Monday, April 27th at 7:00 in the school library. Again, our very special guest will be Dr. McIntyre our superintendent. I hope to see you all!
Yours truly,
Donna Frederick, PTO President

Over the past few months, all middle school
students have been involved in a mini-
research project. Recognizing that 21st
century learners are part of a vast and
constantly changing information landscape,
the need for solid research skills has never
been greater. In addition, every senior at
Barrington High School must successfully
complete the Senior Project to graduate. A
component of that project is a thesis-driven
research paper. Anyone who has ever
conducted research knows that it is a process
filled with both frustrations and rewards. It is
not something that can be taught in just one or
two lessons. Like so many things, it takes
practice and experience. This middle school
unit is still in the formative stage. The district
is committed to developing an effective
integrated research curriculum and giving
students multiple research opportunities to
build a solid foundation.

Important information from the Nurse
GRADE 7 PARENTS- There are many students missing proper documentation for 7th
grade physicals and immunizations. The seventh grade physical is a requirement
from the Department of Health. The immunization requirements include a Tdap
booster, Hepatitis B vaccines (three doses) and documentation of the chicken pox
vaccine or the disease. Notices have been sent home several times. Please forward
this information as soon as possible.
The school physician will be in school in March to perform physicals for students
who have not returned this requirement.
GRADE 6 PARENTS

In accordance with the Rhode Island Department of Health
        (R23-1-IMM), all
children entering the 7thgrade are required to have the following immunizations:
Booster dose of Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) vaccine, if it has
been 5 years or more since the last dose of diphtheria-tetanus containing
vaccine.
Four (4) doses of Polio vaccine
Two (2) doses of MMR vaccine (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
Three (3) doses of Hepatitis B vaccine.
Two (2) doses of Varicella (chickenpox) vaccine received a statement
signed by your child’s doctor stating that your child has a history of
chickenpox disease.
One (1) dose of Meningococcal conjugate (Meningitis) vaccine
All children entering 7thgrade are required to be up-to-date on their immunizations as
well as have a physical exam. This is the perfect opportunity to review your child’s
immunizations with the doctor to ensure your child is protected from all vaccine-
preventable diseases. The physical examination is required to maintain current health
information. The physical dates from September 2008 to March 2010 are acceptable.
Thank you in advance. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me.
