We hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving, and are enjoying the holiday season.
Please join us for our next PTO meeting which will be held at 7pm on Monday, December 9th in the BMS library. Superintendent Mike Mesorre will be joining us to discuss new policy changes regarding technology use and field trips, he will also give us a curriculum update. Please spread the word!
Tryouts for the Arts Alive production of High School Musical Junior were a huge success!
The cast is excited to start rehearsing. If your child is not in the show, but would still like to get in-volved there will be plenty of opportunities to help with the show. We will keep you posted.
The student variety show is scheduled for February. This is an exciting opportunity for all Barrington Middle School students to showcase their talents. More information to come.
There are many you can participate in the PTO, we have upcoming events and need many volunteers. *One Amazing Night Committee (chaired by Angelica Bazyk) *Variety Show committee (chaired by David Lauria) *Library volunteers *Arts Alive (chaired by Kirsten Davis)
If you are interested in these committees, or have any questions, please contact Carolyn Greeley ([email protected]), or Kirsten Davis ([email protected])
We have added a few new PTO members this month including teachers and administrators bringing our membership up to 227. We would love to see the number increase, if you have not joined yet, it's not to late! Your PTO membership helps support classroom enrichment.
Thank you for your support!

THINGS TO REMEMBER
NO SCHOOL—Dec 23rd—Jan1st Winter Recess
SECOND MARKING PERIOD—November 1st - January 17th
Kidscope News and Notes - December 2013 Page 2
What a frenzied time of year this is. Holiday season, preparing for and adjusting to winter, a new year, it can all be very overwhelming. For me, it helps to stop, take a deep breathe, and remember just how fortunate I am. Working with the students here at BMS is truly a gift. I get so much pleasure from seeing the enthusiasm so many of our students bring to school. Listening to the chatter about a new or an especially popular book is a special bonus I get from my job. At this time of year, many people ask for book recommends. Reading taste is so subjective; I am reluctant to suggest specific titles. The new “Diary of a Wimpy Kid Hard Luck” is out. You can also use the following websites for other ideas: Nancy Pearl’s Teen Reviews – http://www.nancypearl.com/?cat=63 ALA’s Awards and recommendations – http://www.ala.org/awardsgrants/awards/browse/rlist?showfilter=no Top 100 Middle School Must-Reads – http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/1606.Top_100_Middle_School_Must_Reads
Please continue to support our Box Tops program. Although the count is not in, judging from the number of coupons I see going into the collection box, we are well on the way to a record breaking year. A simple snip snip of the coupon on your grocery packaging is worth ten cents. With just ten coupons, we earn one dollar. You can see how quickly that amount can grow. Please remember to send in as many coupons as possible and please include your student/s’ cluster and homeroom. I wish all of you a joyous holiday and the very best in the coming year. . - Mrs. Nancy Maddocks BMS Library Media Specialist [email protected]
