Greetings! The following is a chapter from my upcoming book “Messages from Heaven.”
This is a fun way to discover your past lives, and the past lives of others.
Enjoy!

Welcome Back! “How many people believe in past lives?”
Typically, more than half the room will put up their hands when I ask this
question.
“Welcome back!” I’ll shout loudly to great laughter.
I try to keep my events fun and upbeat, and this corny joke never fails to get a
laugh.
I’m often asked if I believe in reincarnation, and the answer is yes. It is an
absolutely fascinating topic and I fell into it quite by accident.
How many times have you experienced déjà vu? How many times have you
visited a new place and felt that you were there before?
I met a lawyer many years ago at a charity golfing tournament. We were playing a
game of best ball, and given that the two of us were horrendous players, we ended up in a
cart together “playing” (if you can call it that) and enjoying some beers. He is a very
well-known and much-respected lawyer in Canada, so we’ll call him Alan.
Upon discovering I was a psychic medium, Alan told me in great detail about his
vacation in Pennsylvania. He had extended family there, and for some reason he decided
to visit Gettysburg with them. He enthusiastically pointed out that he had no real interest
in going, but it was something to do.
Once there, he had both déjà vu feelings as well as a strong feeling that he had
died there. The longer he visited, the more overwhelming it became.
Alan knew he’d been there before, knew he had been a Confederate, and knew
that he died on July 2. The blow that had brought him his death was something big and
large that struck his chest.
As he walked around, he could smell the smoke, could feel the souls of those who
perished with him, and he felt horrible at the complete massacre that took place.
Alan’s story was utterly fascinating. We had agreed to meet up again to do a
hypnotic past-life regression, but the session never manifested.
How can this be? Surely stories like this could just be fantasy.
Years ago I would have agreed with you. Today, however, I’m convinced of it.

Here’s why: As you are aware, I enjoyed a terrific career as a stage hypnotist. In
the process of mastering hypnosis techniques, I learned a considerable amount of
hypnotherapy techniques and have helped thousands to quit smoking, lose weight, banish
pain, etc.
My first introduction to hypnotherapy was through a famous hypnotist by the
name of Dr. Ormond McGill. In the 1940s, he toured with his show, calling himself, “Dr.
Zomb.” Although quite elderly by the 1980s, Dr. Zomb offered hypnotherapy instruction
through the National Guild of Hypnotists.
I was a voracious reader and read everything I could on hypnosis and
hypnotherapy.
I was visiting my very good friend, Richard Webster, in New Zealand in 1995
with my ex-wife and daughter, who was a toddler at the time. I was lamenting how much
I enjoyed doing the shows but loathed all the travel involved. Through our conversation,
he encouraged me to run a part-time business in past-life regressions.
We spent a day with him coaching me on what to do. He helped me learn the
techniques needed to help people regress hypnotically back in time, and he basically gave
me a wonderful business to run on the side.
When I returned to Canada, I didn’t have much expectations for it, but to my
surprise, it took off like a rocket!
Now, I will confess that I didn’t have much faith in past lives. In hypnosis, you
learn that a fear can be real or imagined and can have the same paralyzing effect on you.
Much of what holds us back in life is imaginary.
Over time I learned that people could heal themselves with hypnosis so, to be
frank, I didn’t care if past lives were real or not. As long as it helped them be a better
person, did it matter?
My very first memorable past-life session was a gentleman in his sixties.
Unfortunately, I don’t recall his name, but I do remember his situation. We’ll call him
Ronald.
Ronald told me that he had been to doctors all his life for a pain in his right arm.
Immediately, this sent off warning bells in my mind, because I’m not a doctor and it’s
against the law to diagnose anyone if you are not.
Blair Robertson

Page 6
He calmed me down and said, “No, it’s between my elbow and wrist. I’ve had
every X-ray and scan you can imagine. I’ve been tested for everything. They can’t find
anything. My doctor said it was psychosomatic and just in my imagination.”
I was puzzled. I was advertising past-life regressions, not therapy sessions. I’m
embarrassed to admit this, but I was very naïve about past lives and it should have been
clear. I thought people would come just for something fun, not to resolve past-life issues
or get answers! Unfortunately, he had to spell it out to me after I protested I couldn’t help
him.
“No, son, you can help me. I’m willing to have several past-life regressions to
find out what the root cause is to the pain in my arm!”
He insisted, so I gave in.
Our first session went well; he regressed back to several past lives, but they
resulted in no definitive answers. I thought for sure he’d never want to come back to me
again, but he booked another appointment.
The next regression went not only smoother, but faster.
We traveled back to old Britain. Details flowed about his village where he grew
up. How he had joined the military against his will to help the family. Of miserable
conditions. On and on. Great details, too. But nothing really remarkable until he
described an ambush of some sort. My client was clearly bewildered, as he and his fellow
villagers in this past life were attacked from all sides.
He managed to mount his horse, but his horse was killed and fell against a tree.
He got up and started running in pure terror through a wooded area, as he was pursued by
his attackers. He had his sword, but couldn’t seem to grab it.
He looked down in horror to discover that his arm had been completely severed
by the fall!
He started moaning in pain, and I repeated to him the hypnotic suggestion that he
was merely witnessing—like a reporter or a movie—the scenes, and there would be no
pain.
He said everything was fading to black and I then regressed him back.
Ronald returned with a blank look on his face. I stared at him for a second and he
exclaimed, “Wonderful!”
Blair Robertson

Page 7
I was stunned, puzzled, but I didn’t let on.
“What’s wonderful?”
“That explains my arm! Don’t you see? My right arm was severed off—that’s my
karma from back then!” Ronald said.
He was very happy. Excited in fact. He returned for a few more sessions and was
one of my best early clients. Sadly, he passed away the following year from cancer.
It was Ronald’s enthusiasm and encouragement that I steered me toward doing
group regressions, which turned out to be much more fun than one-on-ones. I was,
without a doubt, convinced that we all have lived lives before.
Richard Webster wrote a terrific book on how you can personally explore your
own past lives. It’s called Practical Guide to Past Life Memories: Twelve Proven
Methods. It discusses twelve different ways that you can regress back to a past life.
I’m biased, though. Richard personally taught me how to do it, so I know his
techniques are effective. And he dedicated the book to me!
My favorite method in his book is the “Tick Tock” method. Check it out.
Reincarnation and Karma
As a medium, I have brought through many generations of family members. Dad,
Granddad, Great-great Granddad, Great-great-great Grandad, and in a few rare cases,
more.
But I’ve never brought through a Viking. Or an Egyptian king. Or a Biblical
figure.
Why?
From my experience, we live many lives. In many cases, we return to live new
lives to improve our life lessons, aka “karma.”
I believe that time on the other side isn’t the same as time here on Earth. When we
pass over to the other side, we are shown a tally of our successes and areas of
improvement. Nobody is perfect, and there are many lessons to learn in a lifetime.
As such, I believe that we are given a chance to live life again and address weak
areas in a previous incarnation. In other words, we get the opportunity to experience what
the Japanese call Kaizen: an opportunity to constantly improve and develop.
Blair Robertson

Page 8
Regardless of whether you believe in reincarnation or not, the concept of karma is
pretty clear: do no harm, and live your life to the fullest.
Many ask me if they are a new soul or an old soul. In other words, have they lived
many lives or only a few? From my perspective it matters little.
A young soul is innocent and inclined to make many mistakes. While they may
get breaks in life seemingly, they will have many, many lessons they need to learn.
An old soul has wisdom and often greater challenges. As such, their challenges at
times can sometimes seem overwhelming. They are given these challenges so that they
may learn and be tested.
My first roommate, Brian, was a horticultural expert. We visited a friend who had
a giant palm plant in his living room. Brian noted that the plant had an infestation of
mites and needed a severe pruning. Brian stayed inside with a pair of scissors while the
rest of us went outside for a BBQ.
When we came back in, we discovered that Brian had hacked down the palm to
essentially three wisps of leaves. Our mutual friend nearly fainted!
Brian assured him that not only would the plant grow back, but that it would grow
back fuller, thicker, and more beautiful. It wasn’t long before it proved true. The plant
ended up being magnificent, twice as beautiful as it once was.
Pruning can be painful at first, but in the long run, it will result in beautiful
change.
Lessons
So what do difficult challenges teach us?
Challenges teach us to be mindful in this lifetime. To watch for opportunities to
learn and grow. To be, do, and have as much as possible in life, so long as we don’t hurt
others.
Difficult challenges or lessons also teach us that while life may not seem fair,
everything happens for a greater purpose.
Why is it that one person works hard all of their life but doesn’t seem to get
anywhere, when a trust-fund baby gets everything they could want by doing nothing?
Why is it that a war criminal lives to his nineties before being caught and dies a
natural death before seeing trial, and an innocent six-year-old girl dies of cancer?

Page 9
I could write a book of “why’s,” but it doesn’t matter. Truthfully, it’s none of
your concern or mine!
We are on our own unique path. All that matters is that we live our lives to the
fullest. All that matters is that we learn the lessons that are laid out for us to learn.
The fact of the matter is that, yes, some people will live easier lives than us. But
remember, there are also people who are living much harder lives than us.
We are to focus on the task at hand: our own personal journey.
Old Soul or New Soul?
Want a fun way to discover if you are a young or old soul karmic-wise? You can
do this quite easily with numerology. It’s fun and easy to do.
All you need is a pencil and paper. Simply add your birth year plus your birth
month and birth date together.
For example, let’s say Janice is born on April 5, 1977.
April is the fourth month, so we add 4+5+1977, which gives us a total of 1986.
Next, we add those numbers together, so we add 1+9+8+6, which gives us
twenty-four.
The rule is that we must keep reducing the number down to a single digit, except
if the result is an eleven or twenty-two. These are called “master numbers,” which I’ll
explain in a moment.
Twenty-four is not a master number, so we add the 2+4, and that gives us a
number of six.
In numerology, we call this a “life path” number. Janice has a life path number of
six.
To determine if someone is a young soul or old soul, we look at this number.
Generally speaking, the lower the number, the younger the soul. Obviously, the higher
the number, the older the soul. Remember, this is simply a guideline.
To put it another way, the bigger the number, the more lifetimes you have had and
the more experience you have attained from past lives. Not to mention, more
responsibility.
Blair Robertson

Page 10
Note: being a “one” doesn’t mean you’ve lived one life, nor does a “twenty-two”
mean you’ve had twenty-two past lives. Numerology just gives us a guideline as to where
we are in our journey.
Again, I’d like to point out that while you might be a wise, old soul, you have
been given challenges that wouldn’t even be considered for a young soul!
One trait I have found is that old souls get challenged in patience! It seems that
old souls are constantly having to test patience.
I’m an old soul (my master number is 22), and I have to say that I’m as impatient
as you can get. Contrarily, young souls tend to rush into things without thinking and end
up making a mess.
No matter what you are, there will be things to learn. But the faster you can learn
and master these things, the greater your life will be!
I’m sure you would like to know a little bit about yourself and your life path
number. Here are the basic meanings.
Meanings of Life Path Numbers
Life Path Number One: People with a life path number one are young souls.
They are new around here!
Ones tend to start off dependent and may be slow starters in life. But just like a
child is dependent on parents from a young age, this shouldn’t be construed as a negative
trait. In fact, as they mature, they become more and more independent.
Curiously, they tend to end up in the number “one” position: they often start
businesses, reach high levels in work-related activities, make great sales people, etc.
Their life challenge is to avoid being selfish and self-centered. Ones tend to be
very charming and persuasive. Ones can be very stubborn and inflexible, which helps
them achieve their desires most of the time, but it can equally be their downfall.
Ones must be wary of rushing things, as doing so almost always ends up in a
roadblock.
Honesty and loyalty tend to be words you hear about these folks.
Life Path Number Two: People with a life path number two are givers in life,
tending to look after everyone else first and themselves second.
Blair Robertson

Page 11
Rarely do they take the lead role. They prefer to be invisible and in the
background. Think of a president or prime minister giving a perfect speech or answering
questions in a brilliant manner. What many people don’t realize is that the staff behind
the scenes briefs them to make them look great without sharing in the limelight. This is
the number two’s role to perfection.
Twos are powerfully persuasive and diplomatic in a soft, gentle manner. Most
people won’t realize that they have been influenced by a two until it’s too late!
They tend to be sensitive, often to a negative degree. This lifetime will be a test to
learn to value themselves and their contributions.
Twos are very intuitive due to their sensitivity.
Twos make excellent and trustworthy friends.
Life Path Number Three: People with a life path number three are often multi-
talented and highly creative people.
Threes are great conversationalists but often you can’t get them to be quiet. They
have a strong underlying need to communicate through speech, the written word, or
through the arts.
This lifetime is all about enjoying life. They are often found busy having fun.
Threes tend to skim over things. They don’t want a lot of detail, which can often
be their downfall, as they tend to not like to do things over, which causes them
frustration.
In early life, threes tend to be moody and hard to please. This changes though as
they realize that they can use their charm and wit to get things more in line with how they
want them to be.
Threes have amazing imaginations and are problem solvers. What most people
find challenging they tend to see right through. Threes are very valuable in business in
creating breakthroughs and thinking outside the box. When questioned about their ideas,
they’ll likely state that these ideas were “obvious,” leaving the rest befuddled.
Threes tend to excel in communications, like teaching and in entertainment. They
need a lot of variety to be happy in life.
Life Path Number Four: People with a life path number of four are masters of
creating order out of chaos.
Blair Robertson

Page 12
They are typically very slow moving and methodical. They dot every “i” and
cross every “t.”
Fours are hardworking, honest, and loyal. They tend to come across to others as
rigid and stiff.
Fours get the job done, but in this lifetime, they need to appreciate themselves and
reward themselves on a regular basis. If they do not, this can lead to a life of quiet
desperation, which is not good.
Fours don’t handle instability very well. In today’s day and age, it is a life lesson
that they must adjust to. The faster that they can achieve a modest financial
independence, the better off they will be. Parents of fours would do well to teach them to
save and plan early on.
Fours can do almost any job and excel when left alone.
Fours can take time to settle down in love, but when they do, they tend to mate for
life and are tremendous lovers.
Around mid-life, they tend to shift focus toward helping others and can often be
found doing much for charity.
Life Path Number Five: People with a life path number five have experienced
enough previous lives to understand working hard and playing hard.
Fives tend to sort out their strengths and weaknesses early in childhood, and as
they mature they tend to work toward their strong points.
Fives are restless and very impatient. They must learn in this lifetime to relax, as
they tend to get stressed out, sometimes dangerously so.
Fives will have a childlike attitude all their lives. They tend to never really grow
up and are often the life of any party or gathering.
Distraction and lack of focus in the first half of their life has the potential to cause
problems with jobs and settling down in relationships. The earlier they learn to focus and
control their interest, the happier they will be.
That said, fives tend to roll with things very well, even if they fall apart.
Because fives know their strengths, they can be counted on to do a great job in
whatever it is that they do. They take pride in their accomplishments. They are
contagious with enthusiasm and are great for building a “we can do it” attitude.
Blair Robertson

Page 13
It seems like fives have it all to an unfair degree. And to a degree they do. One
major area of concern is that of overindulgence in food, booze, or drugs. Balance is key,
or they can often bring misery to themselves.
Fives are fun to be around and highly generous. Success in virtually anything
tackled is common.
Life Path Number Six: People with a life path number six can be described by
the words comfort, love, care, and assistance.
Sixes make great doctors, nurses, and caregivers. Virtually anything in the service
of others they will excel at to an incredible degree.
Family is very important to sixes. In many ways, it is their life. In this lifetime
they understand the value of a close family and will go to the ends of the earth to
maintain balance, harmony, and discipline.
Sixes see things clearly and are excellent negotiators and amazing at diffusing
difficult situations.
Without question, sixes are the least selfish in this lifetime. That said, they value
and highly appreciate material things. Don’t be confused—sixes can be very wealthy in
this lifetime, but their wealth will be directly attributed for the amount of selfless love
and caring they give.
Another trait that stands out for sixes is fairness. They recognize that they cannot
please everyone but are both confident and fair when it comes to judgment. As such, they
make great judges and make fair decisions.
Life Path Number Seven: People with a life path number seven have achieved
and learned much from past lives regarding materialism and related lessons. This time
through will find them being much more spiritual, loving, and giving. Sevens are great
with details and have a keen interest in technology.
Sevens can tend to be awkward and shy in their early years, and if they don’t push
outside their comfort zone, they risk being like that their whole lives, which would be a
shame, because these people are both fascinating and inspiring.
Sevens, due to their ability to get to the bottom of things, are excellent thinkers,
analysts, and programmers.
Blair Robertson
©2014 BRP Inc. www.BlairRobertson.com
Page 14
They are able to easily tap into a vast spiritual database of solutions. Their
solutions can often seem magical.
Sevens must learn to control their tempers or allowing themselves to get upset.
Just because they have a spiritual nature does not mean others will understand them, so
one must learn to be at peace with that.
While some might consider them loners, they are true friends once you get to
know them on a deep level.
Life Path Number Eight: People with a life path number eight are magnets for
success and achievement, although not necessarily in their youth or even early years.
Eights tend to jump in with both feet and tackle large-scale tasks often with
startling results.
Donald Trump admonishes people to “think big.” Eights are the big thinkers and
expect compensation when the goals are achieved.
Eights must learn in this lifetime to share. We need eights, as they drive the
economy and create jobs, but they can tend to focus only on themselves. Eights who
master the balance of sharing their success are aligned to achieve even greater success
and are often tremendous leaders.
However, if they fail to learn this lesson, they run the risk of crashing and having
to start all over again.
Life Path Number Nine: People with a life path number nine are humanitarians.
They are here to learn to care for others and the Earth.
Because of their sensitivity, they are tremendous lovers and givers. They tend to
be easily hurt by others and must learn in this lifetime to seek to understand.
Unfortunately, in their effort to help and give, they can often run the risk of being
taken advantage of by others, even family. The hardest part for nines to learn in this
lifetime is the difference between helping and enabling.
A deep love for the simple things in life, they make cheap dates: romance to them
is just being together under the stars or for a walk along the beach. They value and
cherish everything in life and are sentimental.
The next two numbers are slightly more scarce and don’t come up as often. While
a nine could certainly be considered an old soul, we make a jump when we get to elevens
Blair Robertson

Page 15
and twenty-twos. These latter people are decidedly older souls. Always keep in mind that
these numbers are simply indicators, but you can be sure that these folks have been
around many times.
Life Path Master Number Eleven: People with a life path number eleven are old
souls. They have lived many, many lives before. They have experienced great joys and
terrible tragedies, and this lifetime is focused on balance.
Extremely capable of virtually anything they attempt, elevens can tend to be
dreamers and barely achieve a fraction of what they are capable of early on in life. This is
often frustrating to them, as it is like having a warehouse of capability but not opening
the door to access it. This tends to change later in life, with elevens understanding their
capabilities and becoming determined to put all their efforts into achievement.
“Pressure” is a word often used for those who are master numbers. Elevens tend
to be nervous and under a great deal of pressure both external and internal. So, when they
are younger, they tend to not live to their potential, but as they get older, they can suffer
from the feeling of never being good enough. This can cause problems if they don’t seek
balance.
Elevens must learn in this lifetime to set benchmarks and force themselves to be
happy when they reach them. This helps them evolve spiritually and brings happiness and
contentment.
Life Path Master Number Twenty-Two: People with a life path number twenty-
two are the oldest of souls.
Twenty-twos have all of the strengths and life lessons of all numbers that have
gone before them. They are the most evolved. That’s the great news.
The bad news is that they have all the potential weaknesses of all the other
numbers as well.
Being a numerology step up from eleven means that twenty-twos are capable and
practical. They are able to act on plans, take action, and really make things happen.
They are often charismatic and typically end up in leadership positions. They
often excel in multiple areas. For example, they may lean heavily toward being a
humanitarian and desire to further a worthy cause. This desire, combined with a
Blair Robertson
©2014 BRP Inc. www.BlairRobertson.com
Page 16
materialistic ability to generate tremendous money, could mean unbelievable success for
the charity. Bill Gates would be an example of this, as he is a twenty-two.
Twenty-twos tend to be very talented, and when they put their minds to work,
they can be very prolific in whatever output they are trying to achieve.
However, twenty-twos are very nervous, and like elevens, twenty-twos must look
after their health. Stress often holds them back early in life, but in later life they manage
it better.
One life lesson they must learn is to take breaks. They tend to be workaholics and
not understand how to holiday or relax.
Almost all twenty-twos do not see measurable success until their mid-forties.
About half will simply drift through life before they have an awakening: it can literally be
an epiphany that changes them. The other half does well but don’t hit that magic
combination.
It does happen though, and when success comes, it typically comes so fast it can
make your head spin!
Try It!
Try working out life path numbers for yourself and your family. It’s fun to do and
you’ll be amazed at the results.
Remember, the rule of thumb is that the younger the soul, the more lessons they
must learn. In many ways, life will be easier. The older the soul, the greater the potential,
but life can bring more challenges and lessons.
All in all, it’s great to be alive and learning, don’t you agree?
