KENOSHA SPORTFISHING AND CONSER-
Fish-N-Fun Committee: See page 2 for the 1011 Fish-N-Fun event. Just over 100 visitors went through the classes. The committee did a outstanding job pre-paring and executing the plan. All sponsors and individual’s donations were card for properly. Fish were caught and smiles were plenty. The Fish-N-Fun committee and other KSFCA members who helped work this event can rest easy. Thank You all for making this event another success. A anonymous donation of $500.00 went to the club for this event. The donor says “Thanks for holding the event even through such economically tough times for everyone”.
Contest Committee: Rules are on page 3. Make sure to read them through. Point system has changed along with check in procedure. Use channel 8 on the lake. Remember to contact Mark D’Aloia if you take a “guest” for the 10 point’s. Or if you wish to be a guest. Rough winds delayed the 1st tournament, If a rain date is held a mass e-mail will be sent.
Fundraiser Committee: This year profits approximately $4,600. Plans in the works for next year. So far changes would be a $5.00 raffle for 2 chances for a rod & reel. Giving earlier notice to Kenosha area business’ for their hopeful contri-bution budgets.
Sunshine Committee: Past member/President, Bob Schultz passed away in Ari-zona, his wife will be holding a memorial for him at Southport on June 15th at 5:30. Jerry Vigansky had Mark Kummerow as May’s guest speaker. Shore and off shore fishing techniques. Mark shown the Bud Diver and spoke of Okuma’s gear, including a new 6:1 reel. Raised a few eyebrows!
Supporting & General Membership Committee: As of May there are 60 mem-bers and 35 sponsors. The KSFCA has hats for sale for $15.00.
Rearing Pond Committee: First we need to say thank You to John Ernst and Boy Scout Troop 591 for helping with the care of our fingerlings and assisting with the Fish-N-Fun. Please see pages 6 and 7 for pictures and release information. One or two weeks prior release, we were loosing up to 200 fish a day, a fungus is suspect, however a dike slipped and about 10,000 were released to the Pike. Not to despair though, after that we only lost 3 to 5 a day. Committee members be-lieve the fish survived for the water difference between the river and pond was 2 degrees. Rumor is too many fish in one bay, of four. Possibly not enough water exchange for that particular area. Our seasoned veterans committee members are on this. The release went very well. In the mean time the best wood to use for the dikes is “Yellow Pine” a expensive wood. If any one knows anyone that may have some stashed in their barn or wherever please contact a Rearing Pond Committee Member. Walter Kreuser will look into grants for a permanent roof over the Pond.
Pike River Committee: No development information at this time.
Fly Tying Committee: The board approved the purchase of a video camera for Jack’s tying. I am sure he will put it to good use and all students will get a good view.
Publication Committee: Please e-mail [email protected] if you have any sto-ries or recipes you wish to submit. Items or services you wish to sell or buy also can go into the classifieds.
Latest News: Mike Williams accepted a 3 year board position.

2011 Kid’s Fish-N-Fun
The event turned out better than expected. The threat of rain all day never panned out, however the wind switched off the Lake
and cooled things off considerably. We hosted a little over 100 visitors.
After families registered they went through several classes. We had “Doc” go over fishing techniques and safety was a main topic.
He was patient and got the children involved. The DNR had a presentation with Doc. Actually quite impressive. Bob DeAngelis had a
presentation about bait and when to use them. Jack Springer held a casting class then the children could receive their rod and reel.

fishin' report 5-12-11 They are finally get ting fish on the big lake. Most guys actually ran into a couple of schools of Cohos over the weekend. Mostly south and inside, (around 40ft.). Some of the "less" professional of the group are still getting limits. Of course mostly Cohos, but also nice Kings are showing up. Some in the area of 20lbs. Basically everyone fishing inside 100 is catching fish. Delavan is still going strong. I will be trying to get to Fremont on the 19th, and possibly on the 26th, but the 26th may actually be the first trip. I only have a week to get my boat ready. That's all the news for now-Bob.
fishin' report 5-17-11 Miserable weather has basically shut down fishing here on the big lake. Friday was the last good day. Mike W. aka Hawkeye got 14. Saturday was rain and wind. Sun. was rain and wind. Mon. wind and cold, and the same goes for today. Fish were out there in big numbers when it was last fishable. In close like they're supposed to be this time of year. Perch fishing has obvi-ously been non-existent as well because of the weather. Here, the water is dirty out to 44ft. That report came from Minnie Al who actu-ally ventured out this morning because he couldn't talk his custom-ers into not going. He was here on dry land by 6:am, so they must have gotten enough of the bouncing early. Not much going on inland either.

Announces Mike Williams, A well known member has
taken classes and passed his USCG Master’s Captain Li-
cense exam in March of 2011.
Please note his card above.
Congratulations' !
As we chatted at the boats on a terribly windy Saturday Mike
mentioned that it is a law to have cable cutters available
with your downrigger’s. Because of the accident last year
with gear getting caught up in trapping nets causing a death.
One can argue all they want, it is not a bad idea. I had to
pass on this information. Thanks for the reminder Mike.
A Little Work Equals A Little Play
Time
An Outing for the Boy Scout’s that assisted with the rearing pond and Kid’s Fish-N-Fun has been set for July 30 with a rain date of the 31st. There are seven Boy scouts with five leaders, so only 4 boats needed and the board is pretty sure 3 are going already, with cook-out to follow, hours 6AM to noon.
The Wisconsin DNR wants' to hear from you! We're
launching a statewide effort to learn what you think about trout fishing in Wisconsin and what could be improved. We also want to learn more about your fishing habits and preferences. Walworth, Racine, and

15 minute mari-nade Grilled salmon with
orange & sesame glaze
Recipe From the GLA Web site
I found a recipe that got the proverbial wheels turn-ing. I would give this one an A-; possibly an A. Here is what I used:* 2 lbs bone-less, skinless, 'defatted' salmon fillets* 1/2 c orange marmalade)* 2 t sesame oil* 2 t soy sauce (could probably substitute about 1 t salt)* 1/2 t grated ginger* 1 clove of finely chopped garlic (or ~1t garlic powder)* 2 T rice vinegar * 1/4 c toasted sesame seeds. Combine the above and marinade the fish for about 15-20 minutes. I don't rec-ommend marinating much longer than this - the acid in the OJ and vinegar work to 'cook' the fish before you ever put it on the grill. I grill my salmon in a fish basket. SAVE the left-over mari-nade! Place the loaded fish basket on the grill (preheated to low/medium heat) and cook for approxi-mately 5 minutes. Flip the fish basket and using a clean paint brush (or other BBQ sauce application de-vice), slather the grilled side of the salmon with the left-over marinade. Grill the undone side for about 5 minutes, then flip for about a minute to bake in the marinade glaze you just applied to the other side... apply the rest of the mari-nade with brush and flip again for about a minute... done. I will probably add just a little brown sugar (somewhere around 1/2 T) to the marinade to help take away the acidity that came through in the finished product... but as listed above, this one came out DAMN good.

Rearing Pond
Release May 11th
Notification’s set for the
release on Thursday had us all
worried about the weather
conditions. Same as the Fish-
N-Fun the rain held off.
The fingerling “Kings” were
delivered at 126 to a pound. At
their release they weighed
average 60 per pound. Nice to
see them double and look very
active.
There was plenty of help
and interested parties present.
Mark Hasenberg, John Larsen,
Tim Szymansky were respon-
sible for the care of them. The
release went smoothly with the
help of some “youth’s” present.
Slight overcast, comfortable
temperatures and plenty of
food to go around. As the fin-
gerlings reached the Pike, you
could see many jumping, Did
not see a one “belly up”. Better
yet I seen no birds hovering
the river area. I vision a excel-
lent transfer.
During the transfer from
one section to another the
massive swarms were so im-
pressive. Hard to imagine the
size they have yet to become.
Many visitor’s named a few
and welcome them back in a
few years. Named a few my-
self.
A few new faces were yield-
ing boots and squeegees' and
herding the King’s, working
hard and with the biggest
smiles.
With the wisdom of the eld-
ers, and I do mean elders
combined with the stamina of
the youth, the teamwork was
something any coach would be
proud of.
Please enjoy the pictures
on this and the following page.
This is also a proper time to
thank all who have trusted and
invested in our efforts. Both
area business’, the Racine
Salmon Unlimited and all of
the individual donors. Thank
You.
