(Footnotes)1 Depends on measurability.2 Depends on measurability.3 Basic radius of curvature which appears in the aspheric equation. No limiting factor, asphericon will carry out a feasibility study.4 Local radius of the surface somewhere along the radius of the surface. (see 3)5 Only measurability is limiting.6 This is no limiting factor.7 Steepest slope of the surface (tangent of 1st derivative) along the radius. Usually located near the edge of the lens.8 Sagitta error depends on the diameter. Listed values are for a diameter of 40 mm.9 Reference wavelength λ=546.07 nm.10 Often also called the PV-error of the measured surface. Means the total surface deviation corrected for Sagitta error (power).11 Rotational symmetric (invariant) part of the irregularity.12 Root mean square of the irregularity.13 Depends on the diameter and the surface curvature. Normal measured length of 1 mm. The bigger the better.14 According to ISO, σ is the angle between the rotation axis of the aspheric surface and the datum axis of the part, and L is the distance from the point of the rotational symmetry of the aspheric surface to the datum axis. 15 Depends on the diameter. Listed values are for a diameter of 40 mm.

asphericon production capabilities

Aspheres can be aspherical on both sides with multiple points of inflection.

The surface shape is not limited by the absolute deviation from the best fit sphere.

Components in almost every variety of glass, fused silica, germanium, silicon, infrared glass, zerodur can be manufactured with an accuracy up to 20 nm form error or 10 nm global RMS.

Advanced production technology allows a slope of up to 75 degrees at the edge of a lens.

Most optical components can be produced with diameters from 2 up to 250 mm. The roughnessdepends on the material used and can be as low as 1 nm Rq.

Choose between four different quality levels: Standard, Precision, Ultra and ION-FinishTM quality.

AspheresAspheres lead to much better imaging properties and reduce the overall number of optical elements in most applications. asphericon produces diameters from 2,0 up to 250mm with a roughness as low as 1 nm Rq.

AxiconsAxicons are offered in a large variety of shapes, sizes and materials. Almost every variety of glass as well as silica, germanium, silicon, infrared glass and zerodur can be processed.

Reflectors - On-AxisMirrors and reflectors with parabolic or custom-defined aspheric surface curvatures are one of our peculiarities. All designs will be delivered in the well-known aspheri-con quality.

Reflectors - Off-AxisOur technology enables the production of off-axis-mirrors and reflectors. Depending on geometry and deflection angle we manufacture according to individual requirements.

AcylindersAspherical cylinders can be realised in plano-convex, plano-concave, bi-convex or bi-concave shapes. Specific lenses with a cylinder surface and both spherical and aspherical rear surfaces are available. In particular cases the outer shapes can be user-defined.

Anti-reflective layersAnti-reflective layers minimize the reflection on optical surfaces. Depending on the type of glass, a reduction in reflection up to < 0.5% is possible.

Dielectric mirrorsWith dielectric layers, absorption-free mirrors with minimized stress and reflections greater than 99% can be manufactured.

Metallic mirrorsMirror surfaces based on metals (e.g. Al, Ag or Au) are cost-effective ways of manufacturing reflectors.

Filter layersThe separation of wave lengths is made possible with so-called short, long or band-pass filters based on dielectric layers.

Splitting layersIn separation of a division ratio T/R for a customer-specific spectral wave length range (UV, VIS und NIR).

PolarizersDefined separation of the vertical and horizontal components of the light into specific wave-length ranges.
