A Call for Volunteers
The Kalikasan People's Network for the Environment (Kalikasan PNE) is a national advocacy network
of over 50 NGOs, institutions and people's organizations that believes that the struggle for the people is
the struggle for the environment, thus putting the primacy of people's welfare in its core. It has led
environmental information, education and advocacy campaigns in the local, national and international
level.
The national secretariat coordinates all campaigns throughout the Philippines to the national level,
conducting speaking engagements, public information and research, community organizing and social
mobilizations on key environmental issues such as large-scale mining, corporate deforestation, climate
change, coal and other dirty technologies, and human rights for environmental defenders.
This is a call for volunteers willing to contribute regular time and effort for the following positions:
Position Description Details
Volunteer Researcher Researchers conduct regular table and field research
on Kalikasan PNE's current thrusts in environmental
and socio-economic issues: (a) mining, (b) oil and
gas, (c) killings of environmental defenders and (d)
coal-fired power plants.
No monthly allowance. Kalikasan PNE
volunteers are expected to give a regular
schedule so the secretariat knows when to
expect your participation and how to
troubleshoot outputs of volunteers.
Volunteer Secretariat
Staff Member
Secretariat staff members help in the overall
operations of the national secretariat, including but
not limited to: (a) secretarial tasks such as SEC
registration, (b) logistics for visual propaganda
production, (c) PR writing and (d) small table
researches.
No monthly allowance. Kalikasan PNE
volunteers are expected to give a regular
schedule so the secretariat knows when to
expect your participation and how to
troubleshoot outputs of volunteers.
Volunteer New Media
Operator
New media operators conduct all new media
operations, including: (a) the update of website
content, social media, (b) the facilitation of online
campaigns and (c) coordination with Kalikasan
PNE's external technical support.
No monthly allowance. New media
operators are expected to regularly convene
at least once a week at the office to
coordinate with the rest of the secretariat.
Volunteer Youth
Organizer
Kalikasan PNE's team of youth organizers are tasked
to help develop, train and/or mobilize youth/student
organizations. Kalikasan PNE's current areas are: (a)
UP Diliman, (b) Universidad de Manila and (c)
Ateneo de Manila University.
No monthly allowance. All youth organizers
are expected to set a regular schedule at
Kalikasan PNE's school areas depending on
their capacity, and to regularly convene at
least once a week at the office to coordinate
with the rest of the secretariat.
All volunteers will receive education and training on basic knowledge and skills necessary to realize
their potential as environmental cadres. In the course of your enlistment in the program, you can
receive any of the following, depending on the secretariat's priorities as well as the time and availability
