Greetings and a shout out to all Nobles and Ladies of Kalif Shrine of Northern Wyoming, It’s been a busy year so far and I want to thank all of the Divan, Nobles, Past Potentates, and especially those who came so far from Korein and Al Bedoo Temples, who have attended our functions so far this year. The year started with our visit to Al Bedoo Installation in Billings, a visit to the Installation at Korein Temple in Rawlins, then our own Installation here at Kalif Temple. Closely following were visits to Inyan Kara Club in Newcastle and the Powder River Club in Gillette. Many also attended our fundraiser for our SLC Hospital in January and I’m happy to say that event netted over $1,200. I want to thank PPs Steve Schlenker and Riley Cooke along with Oriental Guide Mike Malone for traveling to Calgary with me to our Winter PNSA meeting. What a beautiful showing for Kalif. The year doesn’t get any less busy for the next couple of months. We’ll start out locally with our usual stag dinner the 1st Friday in march with a repeat in April. We then have a St. Patrick’s Day celebration at the Temple on March 14th with great corn beef and cabbage by PP Dave Coleman and Lady Vonnie along with Boot Hill for entertainment. We then go on to three Potentate/Divan visits over the mountain, on the 19th to Bah GueWana Club in Thermopolis, Fremont County Club on the 20th, and finally to the Jackson Hole Club on the 21st. While in Jackson PP Joe Schloss and I will be helping with raffle ticket sales at the Snow Devil’s Hill Climb. This is such a successful venture for the Jackson Hole Club each year. Hats off to that Club for their substantial contribution to our Hospital last year via their multiple fundraisers. Since the Stated Meeting in March will be while I am in Riverton, I want to thank Chief Rabban Reuben Ritthaler for chairing the meeting. The end of March comes with something new, a Circus. The Kalif Klowns, in co-operation with the Al Bedoo Klowns, are sponsoring a Circus this year. This will be held on the 28th at the Temple. See the ad in this publication. Don’t forget the Potluck on the last Monday; I will do my best to have a speaker or entertainment. April will have our usual events, but the most important is our combined Kalif/Korein Ceremonial to be held April 18th in Riverton. Plans are well underway and it looks to be a great time for fun and fellowship with our Southern Brothers. Make plans now to attend, please register either on the wyoshriners website or by calling the office, 307-674-4815 so we can get a count for meals. Also, PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, get your petitions in with the proper fee to the office early so we don’t have so many to process at the last minute. I hope you all are working on our Imperial Sir’s theme this year “JUST ONE.” Lastly, note that the night before the Ceremonial is the 17th, our usual Stated Meeting night. At the last meeting a vote was taken to hold it in Riverton. Worshipful Master Cory Roda of Riverton Lodge #26 has graciously allowed us to use their facility, not only for the 1st and 3rd Ceremonial sections, but also for our Stated Meeting on Friday night. We would welcome a large attendance, especially for those unable to attend most meetings. Make sure you have your current membership card with you. Talk to you again in May! Kalif Divan Directory

Hello all Nobles This is your Captain speaking. No, just kidding. We have had a very slow winter for Stag night but we will keep trying to get you to come. We had a great turnout for the friends and family prime rib dinner February 7th. A good time was had by all who attended. A visiting Noble won a bottle. How great is that? Now back to business. We will be permanently ending Stag in September of next year. We will resume with Stag nights on the first Friday of every month in October through May. We will not hold Stag in June since it is our players’ dinner night and we will cancel the January 1st Stag due to it being New Year’s Day. I am sorry to keep bringing you bad news, but my choices have been limited. June 5th will be our player’s dinner for the North-South Shrine Bowl held in Casper. We have 9 players this year so come support our team, coaches, and families at the Shrine on Friday, June 5th at 7pm. It will be a mandatory RSVP by Monday June 1st for $20 a plate or you will pay $25 at the door. There will be no exceptions so there is no reason to not call the bar or Rick Badget and let them know how many in your party. Thanks so much, Scott Stewart, President, Uniformed Units

Inyan Kara Shrine Club We will be having our next meeting on March 20th at the Westend in Newcastle. During the summer we drive our monster trucks in the area parades in Moorcroft, Upton, Sundance, Pine Haven, Gillette and wherever else the parade route takes us. Dates are not known yet for these parades however. In our March meeting we will be discussing the summer activities and other events going on in the future. Thanks,

Jace Baker, Inyan Kara President 307-756-2630

Notice: The April Stated Meeting on the 17th will be held at the Blue Lodge in Riverton, Wyoming at the usual time, 7:30 p.m.

There is an old saying: “May you be blessed and cursed to live in interesting times.” Well, things are interesting! Over the weekend of Feb. 15th, the good folks in Afton, WY resurrected the Cutter Races to great success. Over two days, with an average crowd of 300, they raised over $11,000.00 for the Salt Lake hospital! This is sure to build in the coming years, and I hope to see every one of you there. Changes continue with the hospital system, and this is a good thing. Nothing is static, and we either change and grow or stagnate and die. Innovations in health care have made the majority of surgeries outpatient with no overnight stays. Better for the patient, better for the families. The reality is no one wants to stay in the hospital – even over one night – if it isn’t necessary. The sooner children can return to their homes and daily routines, the faster they will recover and the better their outcomes will be. Outpatient services also decrease time away from home, school and employment. In addition, outpatient care is less expensive, which allows us to use our resources more efficiently, making it possible for us to offer hope and healing to more children. Today, approximately 85 percent of pediatric medical procedures in the U.S. are performed in an outpatient setting, and this trend is expected to continue. Our locations in Erie, Pennsylvania; Lexington, Kentucky; Pasadena, California; Tampa, Florida, and Minneapolis

are already completely focused on outpatient care and/or one-day surgeries, with necessary inpatient services coordinated with a community partner. Our St. Louis location has been right-sized to 12 inpatient beds, which complements its strong working relationship with Washington University Medical Center. Our goal is to help as many children as possible, effectively and efficiently. That requires seeking alternatives and adapting to new methods – throughout our health care system. We are changing and growing, but our mission has not changed: more kids in more places with better care, so our mission as Shriners has not changed: raise funds and find kids to help. Every child we reach becomes part of our Shriner family, and every member of our family will always get the special touch that makes Shrine care whole life care. No matter where they are treated, they will always be “Shrine kids.” We don’t just treat the malady, we treat the whole person, and better the whole family. Our Salt Lake hospital is in a strong position to meet these new conditions, and there are great things to come!

Thank you for allowing me to serve, Yours in the Faith,

Noble Chris Schroeder,BOG Shriners Salt Lake

Nobles, it is a great time to be a Shriner!

In Memoriam Ladies Corner Greetings Nobles and Ladies,

Seems like yesterday I was

worrying about the Potentate’s Ball

and now, swish, it’s over. Thanks to

all of the faithful Shrine Ladies who

held me up, you Ladies are great!

Our project this year for sending

nurses to the Galveston Burn center

is going well. There is a possibility

that we may be able to send three

nurses instead of two. It will be

great to have burn expertise again

in the Sheridan Memorial Hospital

catchment area. Bill and I have been

on the road quite a lot and it’s been

very fun and always great to visit

with Shrine friends. Getting ready

to support our Nobles during the

combined Kalif/Korein Ceremonial

coming on April 18th. The Ladies

will be having a luncheon, although

specific details haven’t been ironed

out at this time. I know for sure we’ll

have good food, great company,

and lots of door prizes. Make plans

with your Nobles to attend, call Bill

or me for more details. On the local

level, don’t miss the St. Patty’s party

on March 14th. PP Dave and Lady

Vonnie Coleman do a spectacular job

as chefs for this dinner, it is truly a

don’t miss evening.

Looking forward to seeing

you soon,

Lady Holly

family and friends are what make Shrine events possible and for Kalif Klowns, we love to see happy smiling faces.

Looking forward, Kalif Klowns will be in all the local parades this summer and a few out of town parades. We do our best to promote the Kalif Shrine and of course, Klown around. Social media is our main advertising for Parade events. After every parade we post fun entertaining pictures and on occasion short videos. We hope to see you all at the local parades and yes, bring the kids, family and friends.

Greetings Nobles and Ladies,

2020 will be another exciting year for clowning around and having fun!!!! We have added a new event to our list of family fun. “THE SHRINE KLOWNS CIRCUS” will be performing Saturday March 28th. Radio advertisements, posters, social media, and word of mouth has been broadcasting for weeks to get the good word out. We also have great support with sponsorship from Sheridan Media and Coca-Cola Bottling Company. The show is produced by Montana Premiere Entertainment and has clowns, Kalif Klowns, jugglers, aerial acts, magic, face painting, and much much more! Support from Shrine members,
