Pastoral Council looking for new members as we look to the future.

Our Pastoral Council is “a consultative body advising the pastor” as well as “a voice of the parishioners to the pastor” (From the Pastoral Council Constitution). The Council year ends in June, so we are in need of two or three new members to replace those whose terms are ending. The PC meets eight times a year and there are several committees within the council, which some members serve on. We believe the Council is an important vehicle in our parish and ask you to consider seeking membership.

Please contact: Tom Faranda, [email protected] or cell 924-2061.

Religious Education Registration Religious Education registration materials have been mailed for the 2020/2021 school year. We are awaiting word on what protocols we have to follow and when we are allowed to gather. In the meantime, please return the form and tuition.

Please note: Religious Education has a new number. They can now be reached at 914-272-7374

    Thank you!

  • Restore the Bells at the

    Good Shepherd Chapel

The carillon that controls the bells at

the chapel stopped working in early

March. Since then the bells have been

silent. Especially at this trying time, it

    would be wonderful to have

    inspirational music playing for our

    parishioners and the community. The

    manufacturer has determined that the

unit is not repairable. That unit

worked flawlessly for over 20 years.

The cost of a new carillon is $4000.

Please consider donating to this worthy

cause or perhaps memorializing a gift.

Holy Name of Mary Montessori School is happy to welcome Feliz Quinlan as our new director! Feliz has a Master’s Degree in education from Pace University and is certified in the Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. She has taught in HNM’s Sunday Catechesis program for 6 years, and two of her four daughters attended HNMMS. In addition to being an active parent and fundraiser for the school, she served for many years on the Montessori Advisory Committee and she has been a substitute for us when we needed help. Many of you know her to be a very active and dedicated parishioner and we are blessed to have her as our new director. Thank you Feliz!

The Sanctuary Lamp or Eucharistic Bread can be memorialized for a loved one for an entire week for $30.

If interested please contact the Parish Office at (914) 271-4797 x 10 or email requests to [email protected]

HNM Cookbook Our church will be publishing a cookbook featuring the best recipes from not only our parish, but also our Croton neighbors (and hopefully a few recipes from local restaurants too!). We would love to include some of your favorite recipes particularly ones that are tried and true and easy to make. The due-date for submission is Saturday, August 1st. Your name will be printed with each of your recipes, and each cookbook will be professionally typeset, printed and bound. All profits will go directly to support our Holy Name of Mary Community.

The Recipe Submission Form can be found on our website at: www.holynameofmary.org/news/hnm-cookbook If you were having trouble filling out the form previously, it has been updated. Even if you have no recipes to share, the submission form is also a cookbook pre-order form.

We believe these cookbooks will showcase the best recipes from our town, and they will be a great gift! If you know you will order cookbooks, pre-ordering them will save you a few dollars, and will give us a better estimate on how many cookbooks to print.

Thank you in advance for your participation!

While you’ve been away… We’ve been working hard to prepare the Church for your return. We have added numerous hand sanitizer dispensers and have placed distance markers throughout the Church. We’ve also barred off certain pews and have administered rules and guidelines (see last page) to make your return as safe as possible.

We pray to see you soon.

    To all essential workers …

  • To live is to change……

The rest of the quote from Saint John Henry Newman continues, “and to be perfect is to have changed often.” I believe that changing often allows us to become more fully human. And in that spirit of change, I will no longer be directing Holy Name of Mary’s religious education program, effective June 30th. The 18 years I have ministered here, which is translated into 576 Sundays, has been a true blessing. Some of my most joyful memories center on parents and their children as they prepared for and celebrated the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation.

I have witnessed many moments of grace standing at the cantor box calling parents forward with children over these nearly two decades. I consider it a privilege to have shared our rich Catholic faith and traditions with families. Thank you for allowing me to serve you by creating programs that incorporated our beliefs into the everyday realities of daily living, especially for the junior high students.

It was about 20 years ago that I was sitting in the pew listening to an appeal to become a volunteer catechist because there was a 7th grade group of students without a teacher. I heard that small, still whisper of the Holy Spirit nudging me to inquire and that is how my career at Holy Name began. I am especially grateful that the religious education program touched so many other ministries in the parish and that I’ve come to know parishioners of all ages on this journey of faith. I’m not sure where the next step of the journey will lead me, but I will always carry the families and parishioners of Holy Name in my heart, enriched by knowing you.

    Peace, Regina Clarkin

On behalf of Holy Name of Mary, especially Fr.’s Brennan and Nelson, we would like to express our sincere admiration for the amazing efforts put forth by Regina Clarkin in the past 18 years of her employment here at Holy Name of Mary. We appreciate everything that she has done and for the endless hours that she has spent working here. Her contributions to the Religious Education Program and countless other ministries have been done with such professionalism, empathy, strength and commitment. She is an inspiration to the entire staff. We respect Regina’s decision to pursue her career elsewhere and wish her all the best in her future endeavors.

In the upcoming weeks we will be giving an update on how we will be transitioning into a new era for our CCD program.

    Sincerely, HNM Staff

  • Hello and welcome back home to Holy Name of Mary for the celebration of Holy Mass

It’s wonderful to see you all again. Just a few reminders of what is expected and what will occur.

Please make sure that you, your family and children wear your face mask throughout the

    entire Mass.

Please pay attention to those around you and keep the appropriate safe distance. Do not hug,

embrace or shake hands with friends and others.

There will be no procession at the start or the end of the Mass. The priest will enter and exit

    from the sacristy.

There will be no physical exchange of the Sign of Peace.

Communion will be distributed only under one species. It will be distributed at the end of

    Mass.

On your way to receive the Eucharist please keep safe distance. You will remove the mask and

also your gloves as you approach the Eucharist and then you may wear the masks and exit

the church. When you reach your car you may continue with your prayer of thanksgiving.

Leave the Church from the side exits ONLY after you receive Holy Communion.

If during Mass it is necessary to use the restroom, please follow the signs and adhere to the

    rules of hygiene and sanitation.

Ushers will not distribute any paper magazines, newspapers or bulletins. Your Flocknote will

    keep you updated.

Let there be no gathering after Mass to meet and greet.

Thank you very much for your patience and understanding as we take these regrettable but

necessary steps which will in turn allow us to resume the celebration of the Mass and other

    sacraments together.
