June 2019 the Cedar Chips Pastor’s Corner June is here. I think mainly the students look forward to this month to be done at school. And everyone is excited that summer and vacations are ahead. Any plans made? I long for a whole week off to relax. Can you imagine that summer is creeping in? Time is and goes with us everywhere eve- ry day. I want to say that my life gets better as time goes by. I have more experiences. I have learned more knowledge. I have tried new things. I have better learning of how to feel and how to react. I know more people. I have seen more places. I have better understanding about life and how to be mature. All these come from God and with age. Plus I am going to see more clearly than ever once both eyes are fixed. Not to mention the distortion in my retina that I see straight lines wavy and curvy. I can live with that. Adapting life to serve and to live for God is my aim. Is it easy? No! But it is possible because God is by my side to help me. Many responsibilities as a Christian, pas- tor, a chaplain, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a Thai, a US citizen, a neighbor, and a person – Wow – never thought I would come up with a long list of my titles. Try to make a list of yours. It is amazing to know what roles you and I are in. What a blessing – Be faithful and fruitful to whom we called to be. There are things I can do and there are things I cannot do. God knows my strengths and my limits. Whatever comes this summer for me to handle, I am not alone. God says al- ways look upward and inward to feel God’s peace and joy. Whatever you and I do big or small, do it as we do to the Lord our God. “Commit your work to the Lord, and your plans will be established.” Proverbs 16: 3 “God is Good! Life is Precious!” Signed Pastor Kris Our Vision Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church seeks to glorify God through nurturing spiritual growth, developing faithful discipleship, and serving our community.

Pastor’s

Corner

June is here. I think mainly the students

look forward to this month to be done at

school. And everyone is excited that summer

and vacations are ahead. Any plans made? I

long for a whole week off to relax. Can you

imagine that summer is creeping in?

Time is and goes with us everywhere eve-

ry day. I want to say that my life gets better as

time goes by. I have more experiences. I have

learned more knowledge. I have tried new

things. I have better learning of how to feel

and how to react. I know more people. I have

seen more places. I have better understanding

about life and how to be mature. All these

come from God and with age.

Plus I am going to see more clearly than

ever once both eyes are fixed. Not to mention

the distortion in my retina that I see straight

lines wavy and curvy. I can live with that.

Adapting life to serve and to live for God

is my aim. Is it easy? No! But it is possible

because God is by my side to help me.

Many responsibilities as a Christian, pas-

tor, a chaplain, a daughter, a sister, a friend, a

Thai, a US citizen, a neighbor, and a person –

Wow – never thought I would come up with a

long list of my titles. Try to make a list of

yours. It is amazing to know what roles you

and I are in. What a blessing – Be faithful and

fruitful to whom we called to be.

There are things I can do and there are

things I cannot do. God knows my strengths

and my limits. Whatever comes this summer

for me to handle, I am not alone. God says al-

ways look upward and inward to feel God’s

peace and joy. Whatever you and I do big or

small, do it as we do to the Lord our God.

“Commit your work to the Lord, and your

plans will be established.” Proverbs 16: 3

Do-nations to benefit Cancer Research Institute in memory of Cosette Sweigart, Daniel Hartman, Rodney Usner and in Honor of Christine Swei-gart. Checks should be written out to Cedar Grove Presbyterian Church and put “Cancer Research” in the memo. Cancer immunotherapy comes in a variety of forms, including targeted antibodies, cancer vac-cines, adoptive cell transfer, tumor-infecting vi-ruses, checkpoint inhibitors, cytokines, and adju-vants. Immunotherapies are a form of biotherapy (also called biologic therapy or biological re-sponse modifier (BRM) therapy) because they use materials from living organisms to fight dis-ease. Some immunotherapy treatments use ge-netic engineering to enhance immune cells’ can-cer-fighting capabilities and may be referred to as gene therapies. Many immunotherapy treat-ments for preventing, managing, or treating dif-ferent cancers can also be used in combination with surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, or target-ed therapies to improve their effectiveness. Im-munotherapy has potential to treat all cancers. For more information go to the website: www.cancerresearch.org

The whimsical world of Dr. Seuss has entertained and educated children and adults for the last 64 years with stories that rhyme and charismatic characters who delight their listening audience. Un-derneath the silliness, Dr. Seuss’ stories tend to shed light on human nature and the world we live in. They can also be used to relate the gospel and biblical wis-dom in a colorful way. So…when you find you’re in the mood to run and play, when rhyming sounds like just the plan for the day, take these lessons that can’t be beat, and let Dr. Seuss teach that the Bible is neat!

Fun in the Sun

Enjoy some summer-themed laughter while you lounge!

Seen on a church sign (and appropriate for grill-ing season): “God doesn’t make misteaks.” Person approaching a shoreline: “Is this river any good for fish?” Response: “It must be. I can’t get any of them to leave it.

Q: Why do people go to church in the summer? A: It’s prayer-conditioned!

Q: Why was it so hot in the stadium after the game? A: All the fans left. Q: While hiking, how can you identify a dogwood tree? A: By its bark.

Sowing Generously “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giv-er .” 2 Corinthians 9:6-7 (NIV) “Give naught, get same. Give much, get same.” - Malcolm Forbes (1919-90) “Think of giving not as a duty but as a privilege.” -John D. Rockefeller, Jr. (1874-1961)

Summer is coming, and while you're taking that long-awaited vacation, the church will be here for you just as we are all year. Expenses don't take a summer break, so we need your sup-port as much as ever. Please remember to send in or drop off your offering even when you aren't here.

5th Sunday Mission Offering

5th Sunday Mission Offering will be taken on Sun-day, June 30. Your giving will support the Mission work of the church.

The Gift of Yourself

If you could only sense how important you are to the lives of those you meet; how important you can be to the people you may never even dream of. There is something of yourself that you leave at every meeting with another person.
