We have a new bible case in the back of the sanctuary, new memorial board, a picture timeline of all our ministers, and actual new signage throughout our church. These are only a few of the many examples of our hard work over the past year. The entire Wright Up could not fit them all. These fun events as well as labors of love come because we are a community celebrating God’s love. An essential part of our journey thus far has been the joy and grief we have shared with one another. We have said goodbye to loved ones. This time of letting go has been balanced with God’s blessing of new faces. Together we have shared the deep sadness of loss as well as the profound joy of new life. We do all of these things because we are a community thriving on God’s everlasting, loving presence. It is this Divine love that has sustained and made our church bloom for over 100 years. We now turn to a new chapter in the adventure. In many ways it will look like the past. In other ways God promises that it will be new and exciting. A glance at our dream sheets reminds us that though we have come far we have quite a path ahead of us. We know God is still calling us to dance as we seek a more diverse worship population, more bible study classes, or a more vibrant financial situation. Our faith is leading us to blossom spiritually, physically, and mentally. My dear loved ones it is a true blessing to be with y’all. This has been one of the most fantastic years of my life. I am grateful beyond words that God has brought us together. There is pure excitement in what is to come for our future. As a wise person once spoke, “It has yet to begin.” Wherever we are going God’s love for us and our love for one another will always help us thrive. Love, Rev. THE WRIGHT UPS

September 2014 edition

JUNE 2015 ISSUE Greetings dear loved ones!

I write to you with many blessings and prayers. The release of this article will be

approximately one week prior to our one-year anniversary together. Yippeee! Yes, it has been

a year. And yes quite a joyous year!

Looking back I must celebrate the authentic love I have found in this community.

Everywhere I turn there is a warm greeting, a smile, and an eagerness to share life. The

welcome I have received and witnessed and shared with others is the Spirit of God moving.

We have done a lot together over the past year. We rooted against our pastor so he

would shave that hairy animal off his face. I guess that's what I get for wrecking the now

church treasurer into a go-kart wall. We had a summer fiesta, blessing of the animals, and

multiple pancake feasts. We have celebrated both as a community and one-on-one. Many of

you have generously and graciously opened your homes to me. If we have not shared this yet,

I hope and pray it will happen soon. There was even been a hockey game celebration.

The same Spirit that helps us to share joy has led us to grow together. We have worked

hard to live out God’s calling on our church. We discussed tough issues such as Justice, Peace,

and the Isreali-Palestinian conflict. We have kept our food pantry and once a month bench

supper thriving. We created a list of dreams and are prayerfully discerning where we are

going. There are markers throughout church of our love for this community and one another.

We have a new bible case in the back of the sanctuary, new memorial board, a picture timeline

of all our ministers, and actual new signage throughout our church. These are only a few of the

many examples of our hard work over the past year. The entire Wright Up could not fit them

all.

These fun events as well as labors of love come because we are a community

celebrating God’s love. An essential part of our journey thus far has been the joy and grief we

have shared with one another. We have said goodbye to loved ones. This time of letting go

has been balanced with God’s blessing of new faces. Together we have shared the deep

sadness of loss as well as the profound joy of new life. We do all of these things because we

are a community thriving on God’s everlasting, loving presence.

It is this Divine love that has sustained and made our church bloom for over 100 years.

We now turn to a new chapter in the adventure. In many ways it will look like the past. In

other ways God promises that it will be new and exciting. A glance at our dream sheets

reminds us that though we have come far we have quite a path ahead of us. We know God is

still calling us to dance as we seek a more diverse worship population, more bible study

classes, or a more vibrant financial situation. Our faith is leading us to blossom spiritually,

physically, and mentally.

My dear loved ones it is a true blessing to be with y’all. This has been one of the most

fantastic years of my life. I am grateful beyond words that God has brought us together. There

is pure excitement in what is to come for our future. As a wise person once spoke, “It has yet

to begin.”

Wherever we are going God’s love for us and our love for one another will always help us

thrive.

Love,

Rev. Drew Terry

Happy Father's Day, June 21 The strength of a mountain, the majesty of a tree,

the warmth of a summer sun, the calm of the quiet sea. The generous soul of nature, the comforting arm of night,

the wisdom of the ages, the power of the eagle's flight. The joy of a morning in spring, the faith of a mustard seed,

the patience of eternity, the depth of a family need. Combine these qualities, and there is nothing more to add,

Some call this "Father", others call it "Dad".

Church Library News The Church Library is undergoing some reorganization. The non-fiction section is being converted to the Dewey Decimal System. The card catalog is gone and the books are being entered into a spreadsheet. There is a printout of the spreadsheet in the library listing books by author, title, and call number. The spreadsheet will also be posted on the church website. All are welcome to use the church library. Books are checked out on the honor system by filling out the book card in the front of the book. Please write the date, your name and place the card in the box with the two ducks on the book case. Return the book by leaving it on the table in the library. The Library has purchased the 12 volume set of The New Interpreter’s Bible Commentary. Try out the Book Exchange Table in the hall in front of the Library. The books on this table do not need to be checked out. Simply leave a book in good condition in place of the one you took.

We wish to thank Suzanne Robb for all her hard work in getting our library in proper order. Suzanne, your work is greatly appreciated.

CALLING ALL CRAFTERS Saturday, November 7, the craft group is hosting a craft bazaar for

any and all of Wright Church Crafters. The venders will be from Wright Church only. Please, no outside vendors. The event will be advertised and

CONGRATULATIONS TO ELIZABETH SHOCKLEY

AND DAKOTA HUNT On Sunday, May 17 we celebrated the confirmation at

Wright Congregational United Church of Christ of Elizabeth and Dakota. They have been attending confirmation class with Pastor Drew for the past several

months and are now official members of our church. We all send our love, support and congratulations to you both for a job well done.

NOTES FROM THE BOARD CHAIR Community Supper

During our board meeting on May 20th, the board voted to move money from altar flowers and coffee hour into the community supper fund. The fund was down to $57.57 which was not enough funds for the dinner on May 28th. Along with being short on funds for the community supper we are also in need of items for the food pan-try. In past years some members have been able to restock the pantry from donations from local businesses. If you have extra items, please bring them in or if you know a business that would donate we would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

Church Lawn Tom and Jane Eubanks have donated their riding mower to the church. I was able to use it last week and greatly appreciate their donation. I know that it saved me time last week when my mowing partner was not able to get off of work like I did.

New Carpeting and paint Coming soon to part of the church will be new carpeting and paint. The Fellowship hall down in the basement will be getting new paint and then new carpeting. The car-peting will also be in the hall ways in the basement, stairs leading up to main floor Foyer and hallways in main floor.

ATTENTION KITCHEN CREWS It has come to our attention that our dishes and utencils are not being

cleaned properly. If you are doing any clean up from any function please take note.

Our dishes and utensils must be washed in hot soapy water before placing in the sanitizer – Yes, it is a sanitizer NOT a dish washer.

We will all be thankful for this important announcement.

Jack Brown Is Coming Back To

Wright On June 28

Yes, it is true. Jack Brown will be our guest musician during worship on Sunday, June 28. Jack Brown writes, sings and plays music that reflects everything from his Mississippi Gulf Coast and New Orleans upbringing to his California stint and his current Idaho environs. He's played big gigs from Russ and Julie's House Concert (June 2012), The Living Tradition Concert Series (October 2011), the Rich Warren's Folkstage/Midnight

Special (August 2010), and opening for Carole King (2004), and small gigs at folk festivals, coffeehouses, bars, and pizza places all over the US. His songwriting style includes lots of folk, blues and jazz styles, but can best be defined as something that audiences immediately enjoy and come back for. Jack taught High School Choir in the West Ada School District here in Idaho for several years. He is a former choir director at our sister congregation, First Congregational UCC here in Boise. Jack has three CDs---“Live from the Left of Center”—2004 “The Road to Happy”—2008 “The Scenic Route”—2010 When not touring and playing gigs, Jack spends most of his time teaching music at Korea International School, near Seoul, South Korea. He also teaches private guitar and plays solo and group gigs all over the place. Jack has been with us several times in the past. Please be present to welcome Jack back to Wright.

Genes for Jeans

Huntington's group fund raiser Trevor and Jennifer Makinson along with the Huntington's group wishes to thank everyone from Wright Church who contributed to this fund raiser in May. Thanks to your generous contributions $150.00 was given to Huntington's.
