Lighthouse Booklet of the Week:Purgatory: A Mystery of Love

Does purgatory exist? If so, where, and why? What does the Bible say? What does the Church teach? What sense can be made of indulgences? This engaging survey of Scripture, the Church Fathers, Christian history, distinguished writers, and the Catechism, provides answers to these and many other questions. In this examination of the calling and dignity of each person, as well as the context and purpose of our lives here on earth, personal accountability and divine mercy harmoniously combine to make sound common sense.

Homebound

Eucharistic Ministry

Our Homebound Eucharistic Ministry needs additional ministers to assist in bringing Holy Communion to our elderly, sick, and disabled parishioners. The number that our ministry now serves has increased. The persons we visit weekly are unable to attend Mass on Sunday and receive Holy Communion regularly. Generally we visit the homebound at a prearranged time on Tuesday mornings.

With a few more ministers, each minister or team will only have to serve at most one morning a month.

We have found this to be a very rewarding ministry and have training available to those interested in participating in this ministry. Please consider volunteering.

For more information, please call or e-mail Yvonne von Brauchitsch at (916) 740-4394 or [email protected], or contact Ron Kong at (916) 786-2355 or [email protected].

Submit your bulletin listings by Thursday at noon, 11 days prior to the weekend you want it listed, to [email protected] or call (916) 786-5001.
