Page 5XII Meeting of the Italian Chambers

of Commerce Abroad

The XII Meeting of the Italian Chambers of Commerce Abroad, was held in Rome from the 2th to 6th , in which

our Secretary General Mariagrazia Biancospinoparticipated.

This traditional meeting was organized by the Unioncamere in cooperation both with Chamber of

Commerce of Rome and Lazio Unionecamere. The event was aimed at the top management of the 75 Italian

Chambers placed in 50 different Countries.

The event started with the Conference “ Authentic Italy: strategies for promoting our value over the foreign

markets”.The works continued in the

Adrian’s Temple with the so- called one–to-one meetings among the delegates of the Italian Chamber abroad and the main institutional representatives, as well as the Italian Chamber System

and the other main institutions involved in promoting the Made in Italy abroad.

The main goal of these meetings was to develop further cooperation among the different Italian institutions for furthering common projects by

sharing ideas, experiences and best practices.During the meetings,

our Secretary General highlighted the opportunities of the South African market as well as the whole African

continent, because of the ever increasing interest from both Italian Companies and Institutions.

L’iniziativa, organizzata da Assocamerestero e Unioncamere in collaborazione con la CCIAA di Roma e

Unioncamere Lazio, rappresenta un appuntamentotradizionale che ha visto riunita la dirigenza delle 75 Camere di Commercio italiane all’estro presenti in 50

Paesi del mondo. I lavori si sono aperti al pubblco lunedì 4 luglio con il

Convegno “L’Italia Autentica: strategie per promuovere il valore delle nostretipicita’ sui mercati esteri” che si è tenuto presso la sede di

Unioncamere. I lavori sono poi proseguiti nel pomeriggiopresso la Sala del Tempio di Adriano della CCIAA di

Roma con la realizzazione di incontri one-to-one tra idelegati delle CCIE e

I rappresentanti delle istituzioni, del sistema cameraleitaliano, degli enti e delle associazioni impegnati nelle

attività dipromozione del Made in Italy all’estero. Scopo degli incontri è stato quello di favorire lo sviluppodi future collaborazioni e l’avvio di iniziative progettualicomuni attraverso la condivisione di idee, esperienze e best practice. Durante gli incontri, il nostro Segretario

Generale, ha avuto l’opportunita’ di mettere in risalto le opportunita’ non solo del mercato sudafricano ma ditutto il continente africano, che mostra un interesse

sempre maggiore da parte delle imprese e delleistituzioni italiane.

First lady Michelle Obama and her family visited former PresidentNelson Mandela during her visit to South Africa. The United StatesFirst family shared a private visit at the home of the South Africanicon and revered statesman.It was the first meeting between America's first black first lady andthe political prisoner which was very moving for both of them. Aftervisiting the Mandela‟s home, Mrs. Obama visited a daycare center ina shantytown in Johannesburg where people live in tin homes largelywithout electricity or sanitation. They closed the day with a privatetour of the Apartheid Museum that opened in 2001 telling the storyof the rise and fall of apartheid.Ms. Obama continued her visit in South Africa, speaking at a churchwhere she urged South African youth to work to end AIDS andsexual violence. Addressing a packed Regina Mondi Church inSoweto, she singled out 76 young African women in the audiencewho will be attending the first-ever Young African Women LeadersForum, sponsored by the White House, State Department and otherU.S. entities. She alsogave a relevant elucidation of the amazing South African landscape
