SHARE THE BURDEN
“Come to me, all you who labor and are bur-dened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28). These words of our Savior seem to be in stark con-trast to the previous chapter from the same Gospel, when we were told that if we do not take up our crosses, we are not worthy of Christ. Connecting these two messages might help us on our faith journeys.
Being a follower of Christ surely means that we must embrace the cross, in its mystery of both suf-fering and triumph. This is something that we need not do alone, for the burden is often too heavy for us to carry by ourselves. Who, then, do we turn to? We can turn to the Body of Christ—the community of disciples gathered for worship. When we find the burden too heavy, let us remember that we can share that burden with our Christian sisters and brothers, who can help bring us rest.

—HELLO— FROM FR. SENIC
Dear Parishioners,
My name is Arsenio! But I prefer to be called SENIC. I’ve been in Saint Bartholomew’s many times as visitor. It’s a beautiful church. I had heard a lot of good things about it and I have a good feeling myself about coming. I’ve been ordained for 30 years. Being a priest in parish ministry is a faith-filled life. It’s one where-in grace received from God makes for prudence, generosity, lots of patience and the humility of realizing always that in the end, it is only God who could touch hearts and that we are mere in-struments in the task of forming the Christian community. I was born and grew up in Manila. I started to be active in church activities as a Boy Scout in 1974. I decided to enter the San Carlos Seminary in 1980 after High School. I stayed in San Carlos for my entire priestly formation. I was originally or-dained and served as a priest of the Archdiocese of Manila and the Diocese of Novaliches for 17 years until 2006.
At that time, I applied to minister in the Archdio-cese of San Francisco. I served in six parishes in-cluding: All Souls Church, SSF; Immaculate Heart of Mary, Belmont; Sacred Heart Church, Olema, CA; St. Gregory Church, San Mateo; St. Patrick Church, SF; and most recently at St. Timothy’s in San Mateo. I was incardinated in 2015. I have been actively involved in the National Catholic Committee on Scouting (NCCS) and the Boy Scout of America (BSA). I'm one of the adult leader of BSA Troop 44- San Mateo at Elks Lodge (20th Ave.) I'm a registered Boy Scout Chaplain. In my spare time I like to go mountain biking and backpacking. Concerning plans that I have for Saint Bart’s, I can only say that I follow what the Church ex-pects. I listen to where God’s Spirit leads me. I just want to meet the people first and discern with them as to what direction to take. Yours in Christ,
Father Senic
