New Member Joins TMI, LLC’s Management Team

What Are You Smoking? GM 4.3L Analyzed

Have you ever had a customer with a dirty environment? Have you ever seen a forklift

that uses the GM 4.3L engine? Only if you’re in the forklift business! You may also have had experience with dirt and debris dusting a customer’s engine. Some engines and accessories are more prone to air leaks which can be the killer of any new or remanufactured engine. When an engine is dusted it creates a serious liability for the party that installed the engine. Since topics regarding the GM 4.3L engine have been a huge success I thought I would outline several critical areas that are prone to ingesting dirt and how smoke testing an engine after installation can solve this problem.

What is DUSTED? It is the failure of an engine due to dirt ingestion. When an engine has an air leak on the intake side of the engine it can turn your engine into a vacuum cleaner. Any air leak after the air filter will allow dirt to enter the engine and rapidly wear out the engine’s core components.

What is SMOKE TESTING? It is a smoke diagnostic machine that fills the intake system with pressurized smoke. When performed with the engine off, it is as simple as looking for smoke to find your leaks. Smoke diagnostic machines come in many different makes and models. Ask your local tool guy for a price and opin-ion as to which machine is best for you.

I know what you’re thinking – “If I need to find an air leak I’ll just spray 17 cans of carb clean, brake clean or ether around the intake areas and listen care-fully. I don’t need some fancy machine” Just to remind everyone – the new tier 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10 GM 4.3L engines are computer controlled with fancy mix-ers and throttle bodies that have more areas to seal and leak. The computer also compensates for so many different variables that you may never notice a small leak that could completely destroy your engine.

We have recently worked with a cus-tomer who has a large fleet of forklifts that run the GM 4.3L engines. They have several areas in their facility where there is a super fine abrasive powder constantly in the air. By using a smoke tester on several different units we have learned volumes as to where the GM 4.3L engines are capable of ingesting dirt and debris. The following is a list of our findings in no particular order:

• We have found leaks around the EGR valves across all tier level configurations.

• Trucks with the big fancy Cyclone Super-Duty - High Velocity – Extra Volume Pre-Cleaners mounted at the top of the overhead guard (OHG) can still have problems. We have found smoke coming out of the taillights, filter sealing surface to OHG and even tapped holes in the side of the OHG that are left open from the factory. Doesn’t it seem strange to have a $4 million dollar pre-cleaner and immediately after that have direct paths to the filter? Remember that most OHG’s are used to channel the air into the filter because this is the highest point away from the ground to intake air.

• We witnessed air cleaner hoses and PCV connections that were pressed on good and tight but would leak if they were not properly clamped.

• Here is a good one – a brand new mixer out of the box had loose inter-nal bolts. These are blind holes be-tween the plates that hold the mixer together. It was obviously leaking and smoke came pouring out of the sealing area.

• The tier 2 o-ring and sleeve that seal the mixer base and throttle body have also been found to leak at the seam. Be sure to replace both the bushing and o-ring after disassem-bling these items.

• The tier 3 mixer doesn’t come with the fitting - only a plug on the air horn side. This customer’s techni-cian removed the plug and forgot to move the plug to the open hole on the other side. This completely destroyed a new engine in 24 hours. So remember to re-install the plug when you swap your fittings.

• This customer also believes that over changing the air filter in harsh environments is a bad idea. He runs an air flow gauge on all of his trucks and feels that some restriction of the filter is actually a good thing. Only when the air flow gauge indi-cates a restriction will they change the air filter. I cannot confirm this as a best practice but I thought it was interesting to at least mention and could be something for everyone to consider.

Engine failures due to dirt ingestion are easy to diagnose. The cylinder walls will have a ridge or sometimes in severe cases one ridge for each piston ring. When looking at the lower portion of the cylinder bore you will see the exact area where the oil control ring stops. It will look like the cylinder wall has been glass beaded and below the line will be the perfect cross hatch. The other sure sign of dirt ingestion can be found on the valve stems. Swirl like patterns and or wear ridges could be seen on most all of the valve stems. Dirt does not dis-criminate – once it gets into the manifold it is distributed evenly in each cylinder depending on the manifold design.

Customers find it hard to believe that one simple air leak can completely wipe out a brand new or reman engine. For this reason we are strong advocates of smoke testing all engines after installa-tion. There is no better way to make sure that everything is air tight and that your profit on the job is protected from future dirt ingestion liability.

If you have a customer that is experienc-ing dirt ingestion failures – consider the smoke tester – you’ll be shocked at what you find. The GM 4.3L engine will be around for many years to come and you are bound to eventually run in to these types of problems. Our job at All Industri-al Engine isn’t to just sell reman engines but to assist customers in solving their engine related service problems. We are the specialists – specialist!

Cranes From ALL Sunshine Help Renovate The Citrus Bowl

In early 2014, during a cold and rainy opening ceremony, the as-sembled team of contractors tasked

with dismantling the 78-year-old Florida Citrus Bowl stood soberly and watched as a crane lifted away the stadium’s scoreboard. Opened in 1936 as a public works project under President Franklin D. Roosevelt’s Works Progress Administra-tion, the Citrus Bowl had aged consider-ably in this tourist-friendly and, by most measures, modern city of Orlando. Now it is receiving $200 million in renovations that include the removal of a suspended walkway, in which ALL Sunshine Crane Rental Corp., a member of the ALL Family of Companies, played a major role.

ALL Sunshine was hired by Abatement Central, a subcontractor for Indepen-dence Demolition of Independence, Ohio. ALL Sunshine and Independence worked directly together to remove the 43-foot-long, 23,000-pound suspended walkway positioned in the center of post-tensioned concrete supports, which had to remain undamaged. In addition, numerous 45-foot, 30,000-pound precast panels from the outside of the upper section of the stadium were to be lifted down and replaced.

ALL Sunshine moved in with a 100-USt Liebherr LTM 1100-4.2 all-terrain crane, chosen for its compact design and extraordinary maneuverability in tight spots (which would definitely come to play in the job). The LTM 1100-4.2 fea-tures top capacities in the 4-axle mobile crane class.

Unfortunately, to remove the walkway, the crane faced an opening only 29 by 31 feet. Due to the difficulty of the lift, Dave Hall, project coordinator at ALL Sunshine, utilized ALL’s 3D Lift Plan software to help plan the job. 3D Lift Plan calculated that the walkway could be removed with the crane’s telescoping boom operating at 74.2 feet with 37,900 pounds of counterweight, enabling the crane to handle a 15,000-pound load at only 60 percent of its capacity. The sling tension was 11,698 pounds.

Because the walkway could not be lowered without potential damage to the concrete supports, it was rigged with custom cables for slinging. Then slow, careful swinging and telescoping enabled the removal of the walkway.

For taking down the precast panels, 3D Lift Plan demonstrated that the telescopic boom needed to extend 110.9 feet, with the same 37,900-pound coun-terweight as for the walkway, operating at merely 61 percent of capacity.

Thanks to the precise lift plan, the right equipment, and the crane operator’s skill, ALL was able to tackle a seemingly im-possible job. “The operator did a flawless job,” says Hall. “This was a very tough job, but he did us proud. I’m glad we were able to perform so well on a project that means a lot to the city.”

And the Liebherr LTM 1100-4.2 was the perfect crane, with both the power and flexibility to handle both jobs, saving time and allowing the general contractor to move on to the next task.

“It was just such a tight space,” says John Carroll of Independence Demoli-tion. “We ran through a few different scenarios, and then we came up with an idea we thought would work. The 3D Lift Plan showed us it could be done. The operator from ALL Sunshine brought that walkway out beautifully. People said we couldn’t succeed, but we did.”

The reconstructed 65,000-seat Citrus Bowl will feature a rebuilt lower bowl, a new digital video scoreboard, more specialized seating options, and a 10,000-square-foot “party deck.” The city hopes to host a future Super Bowl once the renovations are complete.

Whose customer is it?By: Curtis Clark

Think of that large A or B account that you have and ask yourself this question: whose customer is it? If your fi rst answer is, “It’s The Dealer-

ship’s,” you’d be right. But what are you doing to make sure it stays that way? When you answer that question while ignoring competition and the other dealerships in your area, what are you doing to make sure that the customer is really The Dealership’s?

First, start by asking yourself, who does the customer see more than anyone else at The Dealership? If the an-swer is a technician or a salesperson, that’s great. When was the last time you had a manager in there? This should be a more telling sign of who the customer sees as The Dealership. Don’t get me wrong, an outstand-ing technician taking care of a large account is great. But we’ve all had that technician who left and went to another dealership or started their own business. The same can be said for the salesperson. How many of your salespeople have left and gone to work for a competitor? If the only person that customer sees from The Dealership is the sales rep or the technician, they are going to associate them as the face of the business or as their own personal problem solver. Again, not bad. However, if they are The Dealership’s only presence in that account, chances are they are more beholden to the rep they are seeing than to The Dealership.

How do we make it a dealership account? There are a number of ways. You need a good technician or a good

salesperson to help you get in and keep the account. The Dealership’s exposure should not stop there. Sup-pose this is an account with a large fl eet of lifts that you provide service for. When was the last time they saw your Service Manager? Your Service Manager should be able to go out and see customers regularly and work with them to solve problems. Does that mean your Ser-vice Manager needs to be out every day? No, of course not. But if they aren’t visiting and seeing your largest and best service customers, they are missing out on connecting with the customers. You’re also missing out on the opportunity to understand The Dealership’s relationship with that account. What is that beloved technician doing right? Can you use his technique at other accounts? How are you preparing other members of your team to take care of the account when that particular person is on vacation, or when they retire or worse, move on?

Let’s look at it from the sales perspective. How ac-tive was your sales management on the initial deal (whether it was selling equipment or selling service)? The Dealership should be sold as a whole. This goes double for larger accounts. How active were other parts of The Dealership? Did sales managers go in and work with the sales rep to make sure equipment was spec’d right? Did sales management convey The Dealership’s commitment to the account? If there was discussion of maintenance, did the Service Manager come in to

understand the expectations of the account? What is the service interval? How is service handled currently? If the customer does their own maintenance, have you brought in your Parts Manager to make sure the cus-tomer understands what The Dealership can do from a parts and support side? By now you can see I’ve left you with more questions than answers. This is because, frankly, only you and your team can answer them. Some of you will read this and say, “Well, I’m not going to walk into a meeting with a customer and bring 10 different people!” No, you’re not and believe me, I think the very idea is preposterous. But when facing a large account, it would be good for you to make sure you establish a presence. Not all of these conversations need to be had at one time. First establish what the issues or hot but-tons are with the customer and approach it from there. The Dealership should not end or begin with just one person ... unless you’re the owner.

Will answering all these questions keep you from losing accounts? No. I’m sure each of us has felt like we’ve done everything right in an account and lost it anyway. You can’t stop people from leaving if that’s what they choose to do. However, you can stop your dealership from asking the question, “Who do we talk to at that ac-count?” Making sure that it’s your company and not the individual that has a presence at a customer will better establish The Dealership should something happen.

Why the Best Financial Advisors are Also Great Team PlayersTop U.S. Advisor Offers 3 Tips for Successful Collaboration

Individuals and families with large estates have enough to worry about – they shouldn’t have to wonder whether the advisors they depend upon

have their best interests at heart, says financial advisor Matthew T. Shafer.

“Many don’t realize that wealthy people are targets for criminals and opportunistic people; that’s why an estate should have a good team of professionals who work well with each other,” says Shafer, author of “The Future of Your Wealth,” (www.mattshafer.us).

“Wealthy families – and many middle-class families – have multiple advisors who specialize in different disciplines, including attorneys, tax specialists, insur-ance agents and the like. A family could find the best specialist in each field, but if these experts do not work in harmony, the results can be dreadful.”

These key players are like musicians in a band or orchestra. If they are off doing their own thing with no consideration for the overall production, it will sound terrible, says Shafer, who offers tips for overcoming potential problems within a group of advisors.

• Keep egos in check. The best lawyers, tax advi-sors and financial advisors – top performers who’ve spent years honing their skills in highly competitive environments – tend to be strong-minded person-

alities. When members of the team are required to review the work of another within the team, egos can get in the way, even when all parties can agree that a second pair of eyes can improve work. Advisors should establish a cooperative, collabora-tive dynamic and avoid pointing fingers of blame; rather, make the priority to do whatever’s best for the client.

• Educate yourself about other disciplines. “Finan-cial advisors can do a better job for their clients if they’ve taken the time to learn about these other fields so they’re comfortable with cross-discipline conversations,” Shafer says. Better understanding another team member’s profession requires a long-sighted view, and there isn’t an immediate payoff. But, as with any educational pursuit, the value will be evident down the road. That value includes cli-ents with increased peace of mind in knowing that their team is coordinated.

• Be tactful in troubleshooting tough situations. If a team member senses something is amiss in the work of another, first approach another advisor within the team and tactfully ask for help connect-ing the dots. Give the other advisor every oppor-tunity to identify a problem and resolve a possible mistake. The only exception to this is when you

think a crime is being committed. In that case, advisors are legally obligated to tell their client. An accusatory approach tends to damage relationships, or even bring them to an end. The goal is to get the best results for the client, not to criticize the other professionals on the team.

How Entrepreneurs Can Increase Profit With A Hands-Off Approach

‘Mechanical Rule of Distance’ Lets You See Big Picture & Test Ideas, Says Business Development Strategist

I t’s a common occurrence among the most talented people in the corporate world – highly skilled and qualifi ed workers make the leap from valued

employee to uncertain business owner.

Unfortunately, rather than becoming a master of their own business, many of these entrepreneurs work twice as much as they did in their safe corporate job, unwit-tingly committing themselves to becoming the lowest rung on the ladder, says Zenovia Andrews, founder and CEO of The MaxOut Group, a company devoted to empowering and teaching entrepreneurs development strategies to increase profi ts.

“People believe that starting a new business is sup-posed to mean they’ll have to work much longer hours, and that’s why most new businesses fail early,” says Andrews, author of the new book “All Systems Go – A Solid Blueprint to Build Business and Maximize Cash Flow,” (www.zenoviaandrews.com).

“Entrepreneurs need to be the brains and oversight of the operation. It’s not wise to work for your own busi-ness. Sixteen-hour days get entrepreneurs lost in the minutiae. The lose perspective and burn out.”

Business owners need distance for perspective, and the best way to create that is by knowing how to delegate duties to employees, she says.

“Owners need to be the strategic visionary who hires, trains and develops the best talent available, and then delegates work,” says Andrews, who discusses the fi ve keys of delegation.

• Understand that your team is made up of human beings. No one can work nonstop, so get your timing right. Know what each employee can handle, and never overwork them. Most people perform at their best when they are consistently busy but not rushed or pressured.

• Focus on the strengths of your team. Delegation is not a dump-and-run tactic. Know your employ-ees and how they fi t into your business puzzle. Allow them to do what they do well, and give them responsibilities and authority. They’ll be happier and so will you.

• Focus on your own strengths, then plug the holes. Few of us are great at everything! If book-keeping’s not your thing, hire an accountant. If you don’t have marketing experience, fi nd someone with proven skills. Trying to perform jobs that you don’t do well will require twice as much effort with less-than-satisfactory results.

• Be the resource king or queen. Your employees are only as good as the resources they have. Make sure that they are equipped to always do the best work for you on a daily basis. Running out of stock,

not having new software and not shelling out for that desperately need printer is NOT good delegation.

• Become the fi re, ice and motivation behind your team. When they need guidance, give it to them; when they need appreciation, offer it to them. Inspire, motivate and lead by supporting your del-egated decisions and following up on them often.

“Business owners need to be the big thinkers: to identify patterns both good and bad; to become an idea machine and testing fanatic; to fi ll out details from outlined strategy; to be aware of market trends; to al-ways have one eye on the competition; and to develop an instinct for the people with whom you like to work,” Andrews says.

AEM Launches Exclusive Online REACH Training; Can Help Towards Compliance For The Entire Manufacturing Supply ChainFull Supply Chain Compliance More Vital Than Ever to Maintain Global Market Access

AEM is on a mission to help edu-cate its members about compli-ance with REACH regulations

that could otherwise cut off their global access to highly regulated markets. REACH, the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of CHemical substances, is the most comprehensive and complex regulatory barrier yet im-posed on equipment manufacturers.

“AEM’s unique and exclusive train-ing will help our member companies to learn about compliance with REACH regulations, which require compli-ance from every vendor in a supply chain. It’s necessary for Original Equip-ment Manufacturers (OEMs) to know that every substance in their products complies with REACH, and that every supplier complies with the regulations. Our training provides the efficient means to educate members about compliance without revealing any company’s propri-etary information,” said Charlie O’Brien, AEM Senior VP.

REACH training is available immediately through AEM’s MAP (Market Access Pathway) training platform. The conse-quences of non-compliance with REACH at any point in a supply chain could ultimately lead to products being kept out of the European Union market, as well as other markets that have their own version of REACH, such as China and South Korea.

The training modules will educate com-panies and the vendors in their supply chain how to document the substances used in manufacturing, their origin, and the concentrations in each product. The goal is to allow companies that imple-ment this training and gather the required data as part of their regular business process to be better prepared to meet the challenge of new and emerging regu-latory issues.

Companies participating in the train-ing program will be able to provide high quality training not only to their own internal employees but to their Tier-1 suppliers, as well as the rest of the sup-ply chain. AEM’s MAP training platform allows manufacturers to trace vendors’ participation and completion of the training at every level of the supply chain without revealing proprietary vendor information.

An AEM cross-industry working group formed three years ago identified the need for this training program. The group said it wanted to “find industry solu-tions to comply with onerous materials management regulations.” AEM solicited comments from the following companies: Ford, Boeing, RSJ, Seagate, Bosch, Cat-erpillar, Terex, Toro, Doosan, CNH, Navi-star, John Deere, and Komatsu, ensuring the best possible knowledge base for the industry specific project. However, only AEM member companies, Caterpil-lar, Terex, Doosan, CNH, Navistar, John Deere, and AGCO, helped create the training program.

“AEM members are quick to point out that other regulatory barriers will require similar education programs. This unique MAP training platform is also suitable for training associated with other arduous regulations like Conflict Minerals and RoHS because of the ability to track training through the entire supply chain. Each of these regulatory regimes requires unique compliance training. It is our mis-sion to help our members stay ahead of those regulatory demands as well,” said Charlie O’Brien, AEM Senior VP.

“Compliance boils down to companies being able to have the correct, secure data and to understand each substance in their products, and where those substances originated. Data is only as good as the weakest link in the supply chain and companies that can offer this training throughout their supply chain will be better able to judge how good the information is coming through the supply chain,” O’Brien said.

REACH currently lists 151 substances on its SVHC (Substances of Very High Concern) list. Substances are added to the list every June and December, and the list is expected to cover at least 440 SVHCs by 2020. For REACH, the concentration of a substance determines if the substance is reportable, but for Conflict Minerals any amount of a named substance (tin, tungsten, tantalum and gold) and its source of origin must be documented.

Equipment Parts Wholesale, LLC (EPW) and TVH Parts Co. (TVH) are pleased to announce that TVH

has acquired the assets of EPW. EPW is a Fresno, California supplier of parts and supplies for aerial lift equipment.

EPW will serve as a sales division of TVH and will continue to focus on the aerial lift equipment market and the equipment rental industry under the EPW brand. With the acquisition of EPW, TVH will increase its new product development and inventory offerings for this portion of the industrial equipment market. FEMA Continues to Monitor Midwest Severe Weather

As heavy rains, storms and fl ooding continue to impact several states throughout the Midwest, the Federal Emergency Manage-

ment Agency’s (FEMA) Region V offi ce continues to monitor the situation and urges all residents to re-main vigilant especially for potential power outages, rising fl ood waters and dangerous road conditions as a result of the severe weather.

FEMA Region V has maintained close contact with state emergency management offi cials, and continues to work with federal partners, including the National Weather Service, to monitor the severe weather moving through the Midwest. The National Weather Service forecasts another line of thunder-storms to develop over western parts of Minnesota today that will move eastward into western Wiscon-sin. The threat will be heavy rain, damaging wind, large hail and the potential for fl ash fl ooding.

When natural disasters, such as severe storms and fl ooding occur, the fi rst responders are local emergency and public works personnel, volunteers, humanitarian organizations and the private sector

who provide emergency assistance that may be needed to protect the public’s health and safety and to meet immediate needs.

FEMA encourages those in the areas affected or po-tentially affected by these storm systems to monitor local radio or TV stations for updated emergency information, and to follow the instructions of state, tribal and local offi cials.

Residents whose homes are impacted by wind or fl ood damage should:• Document damages and keep track of expenses

incurred;• Contact their insurance company to report dam-

age/fi le a claim;• If fl ooding has occurred and it is safe to do so,

take action to limit the damage to personal items such as remove them from the basement or raise them off the fl oor.

What Animal Do You Have?By: Micheal Creamer

I t all began when a customer called wanting some parts looked up. Remembering it distinctly the model was an Advance 4530C Condor scrubber. I

looked up the information and informed the customer. It turned out that what the customer wanted was brushes for an IPC Eagle sweeper.

Being in a silly mood that day I began thinking to myself “What is this, bird day.” Of course I was thinking about the California Condor, a huge ugly vulture with a nine foot wing span. These birds are so ugly they are beauti-ful. And then there is the Eagle. This is a beautiful and majestic bird that is our national emblem. Naming a scrubber after an Eagle I can understand but a Con-dor is a little more difficult. So I began thinking “What other sweeper and scrubbers are named after animals (animals of any kind). So, today I think I will try to name as many as we can and if I miss one, you can e-mail me and let me know.

#1 Tiger CatThis was a sweeper/scrubber in the 1990’s. A very large machine and fairly reliable. I don’t know actually why Tiger “Cat” because a tiger is obvious a cat. That’s like saying Mustang Horse. Does that make sense to you?

#2 ArmadilloThis is a good one. Why someone would name a sweeper after this animal…They must have been a Texan. I’m not being disrespectful because I

love Texas. Actually, the Power Boss Armadillo is a heck of a good sweeper made in different sizes from the SW7X up to SW10X which is a 56” sweeping broom.

#3 PhoenixAh! Another bird (well, a mythical bird). This was an ancient Greek mythical bird that was regenerat-ed by the sun. What this has to do with a sweeper, I don’t know.

#4 BadgerAnother Power Boss product, it was a sweeper and, again, I do not know what a badger has to do with sweeping.

#5 LynxThis was a Nilfisk Advance product made with models 285, 325. This was a walk a walk-behind scrubber. This was a very good scrubber. Of course a Lynx is another cat. They are similar to the Bob Cat, a medium sized cat.

#6 PelicanThis machine is made by Elgin. I think of the Peli-can as a big bulky bird. This is another example of being so ugly that they are beautiful. Again, I don’t know why one would name a sweeper after one of these animals. Of course this is another bird.

#7 thru #11 Maverick, Mustang, Pony, Stallion & War HorseThese are made by NSS. The guy (or gal) that

named these machines must of been a “horse lover.”

#12 Factory CatThis is a name of a whole company. All I picture in my mind is a huge cat on wheels rolling down aisle after aisle in a nearly dark factory. Think about it!

#13 Litter HawkTennant is not much, I guess on animal names but they do have the Litter Hawk. Hey, this is another bird. Except hawks do not collect litter. What the heck?

#14 Eagle ManufacturingAnother whole company. See #15 below.

#15 Eagle Lion, Eagle Panther & the Eagle RhinoI think the guy or gal who named these must have gone to Africa.

Social ConnectionsBy: Bonnie Steer

S trong social connections help us to lead healthier, happier more fulfilling lives. This has been proven

in a wide range of studies over decades of research. In a recent essay from the Journal of Health and Social Behavior, the authors once again link how social relationships encourage healthy behav-iors and those with poor social ties have a higher incidence of severe conditions such as cardiovascular disease, hyper-tension and cancer. One of the main conclusions in the studies is that close relationships help buffer life’s stresses, which leads to longer lives.

Social connections are made up of a variety of people, including professionals like doctors or special interest groups, spiritual advisors like pastors or Bible study groups, family, friends, and co-workers. Having a variety of connections will help you navigate difficulties more effectively and efficiently.

TVH, through their Nudge program, wants to promote and strengthen such ties. We spend so much of our time at work, that it’s important to develop bonds with your fellow co-workers.

TVH offers a variety of ways and oppor-tunities to develop strong social connec-tions. A few of the ways TVH encourages community include:

• a lounge where people can sit and converse during break times,

• the spreading of good news via email, social media and postings of event such as births, promotions, and other successes – work and personal-related,

• an employee “spotlight” which focuses on an employee’s interests outside of work,

• different employee events through-out the year that promote fun, health, and fellowship; such as pic-nics, roller skating, and community events like charity drives.

One of our newest ways to connect people is through our TVH Garden Club. Started this past spring, the group is comprised of several individuals wanting to garden and learn more about garden-ing.

“I’ve always wanted to garden,” says Sarah Nolte 4-year employee. “The TVH garden is giving me a chance to grow my own vegetables and try my hand at gardening. I like to tend to my plot during lunch to see how it’s doing.”

“I had no idea there were so many people here with similar interest as me,” she continues. “It’s fun to learn from more experienced gardeners. I’m excited to see what my garden will produce.”

TVH provided the land, a water source, and tilled it so it would be ready for planting. Each employee had to sign up for a “plot” and then is responsible for its upkeep. The garden is now planted with

cucumber, cabbage, and tomato to name a few of the more popular crops.

There are so many ways to connect people. Just learning about each other helps us care more and builds a health-ier person, business, and community.

J.W. Winco, Inc. announced it now offers GN 319.2 Phenolic plastic revolving ball knobs, long shoulder type, tapped, in inch and metric sizes. These RoHS-compliant revolving ball knobs can be utilized instead of other revolving handles, i.e. with hand wheels. The tapped shoulder allows the ball knob to be mounted from the underside via a screw or bolt. The knob can then be easily mounted to sheet metal in a variety of thicknesses, flat bar, or castings, to create a quick cranking or turning mechanism.
