It is the heat of the sum-mer season! No doubt youhave noticed that the Club

grounds just south of theGarage have been prettytorn up. That is a projectbeing done by the City ofPort Clinton to install anew tap-in meter as wellas a new fire hydrant. Italked with our CaretakerEric Reynolds the week ofJune 18. His goal is tohave the grounds be abso-

lutely perfect by August. Please check the RearCommodores Report formore information. Manythanks to Trustee DougShealy for his diligentwork on this project. It isa project that has been inthe works for at least 5years.

    A special request from

the Flower Committee, that works so hard makingthe grounds look beauti-ful. Those who step out-side the clubhouse for asmoke, please use thesmoking posts provided. The flower pots at theClubhouse entrance are

    not ash trays. Thanks.

The pool is in full opera-tion, again thanks to the

hard work of the poolcommittee, Cory andRenee Stine, Eric andDiane Zeitzheim, and Mar-tha and Duane Snyder. Our new Pool Bar will be inoperation on weekendsthis summer. A couple ofthings: Firstthere is nosmoking permitted in thepool area. Secondwe

built the bar for you, themembers to enjoy. How-ever, we ask that if youdrink, please drink respon-sibly. Enjoy yourselves, but remember that thepool is primarily for thekids. As adults and mem-bers of Port Clinton YachtClub, please set a goodexample.

We have already receivedseveral complaints regard-ing the new pets on thegrounds rules. The big-gest one is allowing dogsto run free without aleash. The new regulationsas set down by the Boardof Trustees is that all

dogs MUST BE ON ALEASH AT ALL TIMES.Violators will be sent let-

ters as a first warning. Iam asking all pet ownersto please police yourselvesand observe the rules re-garding pets on thegrounds. Keep them on aleash, clean up afterthem, and keep them frombothering other membersif they are being kept in-side your boat.

Summer has finally arrived Ihope! It has been a challenging

spring to say the least when wediscuss the weather. The club isbuzzing with picnics, boating, sailing and of course our beauti-ful pool. Its great to see theclub looking great and being usedand enjoyed by the members andguests. It makes all the hardwork accomplished this pastspring worthwhile. Enjoy.

    Only a couple projects to reporton this month;

    Water meter/back flow

preventer As the Com-modore stated, this hasbeen on the agenda forseveral years. To say thecontractor has been chal-lenged would be a hugeunderstatement. Therehave been multiple chal-lenges associated with

the depth of the dig andwater table levels. This

has caused the contrac-tor to re-dig the holeseveral times causing abigger mess than antici-pated and taken up con-siderably more of Ericand Chucks time. Oncethe citys portion is com-plete, we get started onour obligation of the back

flow preventer. SeanKelly and Eric will be do-ing that work.

Water Irrigation Eric in-forms me this project is50% complete. Manythanks to the volunteershelping with this project. Most notably, Bill Hassel-bach who has taken own-

ership and been invalu-able to Eric. Thanks Bill,

we will all benefit fromyour hard work as we en-

joy the green grass inAugust when its normallybrown!

Boat Ramp new largerstone to be placed alongthe sides to prevent ero-sion/undermining of thisasset.

Congratulations to Mark Sprenger and crew aboard Thin Ice, for winning the CIC Heritage and Memorial Cups.

    Mills Race:

Participating in a light wind 2013 Mills Race were Commodore John SchaffnerScoop and Mark Sprenger Thin Ice. This year they changed the course and hadthe boats pass between the Battle of Lake Erie buoy and another mark. I could heara lot of toasts and cheers hailing Commodores Perrys victory going on as the boatspassed between the marks.

Both Scoop and Thin Ice had their moments on the course but like any outdooractivity.sometimes you win.YEAH. and sometimes you dontAHHHH. A lot offun was had on the island afterwards.
