THE TROY (THDBA) CAR SHOW

The 2011 THDBA 7th

Annual Car Show in Troy, MO is our next

major club event, occurring on Saturday, August 6th

, 2011. The

Archway Olds Club is in charge of running the car show and we

need your help!

We will be escorting parking and then performing the judging. The

show will run from 8 AM to 3 PM with awards being presented at

3:30 PM.

Please plan on meeting at the show at 7 AM. More details to be

presented at the meeting.

DISPLAY YOUR OLDSMOBILE

The Archway Olds club has been invited to display our

Oldsmobiles at the Ernie Patti Leasing and Sales location in

Crestwood, MO on Saturday, August 13th

from 11 AM until 2 PM.

Please plan to be there!

The location is 9070 Watson Road and will occur on the 2nd

annual

Route 66 Classic Car Cruise. Look for the Archway Oldsmobile

red banners to find the display field.

Join us at the meeting to ask for more information or contact a club

officer.

2012 OLDSMOBILE NATIONALS

Although we are in 2011 and the 2011 Nationals are being held in

Reno, please consider your calendar for a nice drive to Des

Moines, IA next year for Nationals. Better yet, once there, your

Oldsmobile will have covered parking with covered access to local

hotels! How can it get any better!

Mark your calendar for this event beginning July 2 and ending July

July 2011 President’s Message Hi Everyone, hope all are enjoying our start of summer. We have survived the Cicadas invasion. I live South and the South area were

thick with these cicadas and also some areas in West County but the areas in North County and St. Charles County hardly had any.

My experience that some tree trunks were full of these bugs and they were flying everywhere sporadically. Well all is quiet again till

the next invasion.

Doc and Ed made a journey in mid June to the Oldsmobile Homecoming in Michigan and meet with Jerry. I am jealous I wish I

could have gone. I took the trip a decade ago and it was great back then. There were 450 cars displayed at this event. Maybe we can

get a group together next year and go with Doc and Ed. Jerry will be there of course. I think the club needs to go to more events.

Dan was asking about traveling to the Quad States Show in September. What do you think members? Should we get a group together

for this event? Let’s bring this up at the next meeting. Jerry goes to almost all of the Oldsmobile events along with adding events to

Pontiac, Buick and Cadillac. Sometime I think there are three of Jerry to go to all of these car events all over this country. Jerry is

quickly becoming an expert judge with all these marquees.

Speaking of Jerry, Warren Hughes gave mention in the Illinois Valley Olds Chapter Good Olds Days monthly publication from May

2011 that Texas is giving our new OCA President Jerry Wilson some grief with political issues. Calling Jerry a thug and con man for

doing what he loves to do and that is to travel to car events to meet and greet members and judge cars no matter what make or model

or location. Name calling is disrespectful. Jerry recently at the Oldsmobile Homecoming was asked by the membership to have a

round table meeting explaining his plans and thoughts for the future of the OCA organization. That group now knows the real Jerry

Wilson. At the 2011 OCA Nationals at Reno in late July Jerry will try again to have an OCA secretary accepted. Dalene Delong has

been nominated and will go before the OCA board this July at the nationals. Dalene is over qualified but is still available to fill this

secretary’s position. Steve Hall of Acme apparel group has been nominated for the OCA merchandise promoter. Steve has been

approved by General Motors along with other major manufacturers to print apparel for clubs and special events. Steve is going before

the OCA board this July to get approved. At this time we do not have a secretary or a club apparel person. It will be nice if the OCA

board can accept these more than qualified people so the club as a whole can move onto other issues that need to be addressed. The

fact is Jerry is doing his best to improve the OCA organization and many people know this as a fact. As time goes by and as Jerry

meets and greets more of the membership they, too, will see Jerry is truly doing his best to improve our club as a whole not just for

himself but for the future building of membership with this once large organization. Jerry if we can help you in any way let us know.

The T-shirt graphics for the 2013 OCA nationals has been completed and is ready for print.

The promotional flier for the 2013 OCA nationals along with the Springfield Illinois Convention & Visitors Bureau assistance has

been completed and is going to print at this time. If we are approved by the OCA board this promotional flier will be handed out to the

members in Reno as our introduction.

The power point presentation hosted by the Springfield Convention and Visitors Bureau to the OCA board this July is coming

together and is almost ready.

The Archway Oldsmobile Club is hosting a large car show on Saturday August 6th Memories on Main Street at Troy Missouri in

historic downtown main street. At this time I am requesting your attention this day from 7:00am till 3:30PM. The club is parking,

registering, judging and handing out awards this day and I need every person you can bring with you. Bring your friends and family

and be there early this day to help with parking to start with then to help with judging late morning. I can use all the bodies that can

make it. If you are uncomfortable with parking or judging we will team you up with others. Please make sure you make this day to

help the club with this car show. The club has done this for decades and it's just another car show with a new location. You will need

June 2011 Meeting Minutes

June 2011 Minutes

Meeting was held June 14, 2011, 7:00 pm at Sports Cafe in Bridgeton

24 members in attendance, 2 visitors Melma and Dennis Schickedang

May minutes were approved

Old Business:

The highway cruise to Fulton, Mo May 14th was attended by 18 people. Everyone seemed to like the cruise but it was a rainy day.

The next day was the O’Fallon Illinois Dare show (Sunday May 15). It rained. 20 members helped to work the show. There were 50 cars registered. There was one DARE officer to sponsor their half of the show. Thank you to all who attended to represent our club at this show.

The ninth Mid Missouri Oldsmobile Show Friday June 3rd through Sunday June 5th. 58 registered and 54 showed up. The Rocky Mountain group sent an e-mail that they loved the show and will be back again. Thank you for all who attended and help run the show.

The MOT kids car program is happening again this year. It will be the same as last year with the volunteers getting a picture of your car to Gerald then he will get the pictures to the printers. We will need information about your car for the back side of the card. The club will have scavenger hunt sheets made up as last year. You will need to stay by your card during the show to answer questions and hand out cards to the kids.

New Business

Saturday June 25th is the Classic Car and Warbirds show at the Commemorative Air Force at Smart Field in St. Charles. Mustang and Camaro Car clubs are sponsors of the event. They will have planes on display and some antique planes flying around.

Saturday August 6th Troy Car show. The club will need a lot of people to help park, register, judge and hand out awards at this show. If you could bring a tent for shade, a cooler full of ice and/ or a generator for fans it would be appreciated. Bob Habermehl will DJ that day. Please pass out fliers where ever you go.

Up coming Events: The VFW Post Car Show and walking Poker run is Saturday July 16th in the Arnold area. Saturday August 13th is the Crestwood / Sunset Hills Celebration days. Ernie Patty Leasing and Sales has asked that the Archway Oldsmobile Club to display cars on their lot. The club picnic date will be Oct. 2, 2011
